This is set after the omnic war, there is this peace between men and omnics movement. Tracer was a pilot who was part of the slipstream program: she was given a plane with the ability to move through time, but both her and the plane disappeared. She reappeared later only to disappear again and again, until Winston realized that she was for some reason stuck in time, so he built the chronal accelerator for her, she has to bring it all the time so she doesn't get lost in time again. With that she gained the ability to modify her own time moving "fast forward" to blink around or "recalling" to go back. Sorry for the text wall

The reason widowmaker (Amelie Lacroix) is so evil is because she used to be married to a man who worked for overwatch but the enemy organisation Talon captured her and tortured her until her skin turned blue because they slowed her heartbeat making her the worlds best sniper because she's so calm it also caused her to feel no emotion. They then used her as a sleeper agent so she assassinated her husband. She was the proclaimed dead but was realised to be alive when Ana an Overwatch Second in Command was blinded by her because she failed to make a shot and hesitated as she knew who Widowmaker was. Her name also has to do with the fact that she made herself a widow.

Tracer was an Air Force pilot, Britain's Air Force, who had an accident in an experimental plane set up for time travel, it displaced her in time so if that machine isn't on her chest, she bounces around in time and space. The machine gives her a little control, being able to rewind a few seconds or being able to teleport

Hero is by far the best Overwatch short in my opinion.

Oh btw Widowmaker has the 'nicest' backstory ever. She was married to ''tis guy that was investigating Talon(a criminal group) so he group decided to kidnap her and brainwash her to become a heartless killing machine to kill her husband(which she did). Oh yeah butterflies and rainbows in that backstory.

It's even darker when you learn that she was just an ordinary woman, the wife an Overwatch agent, then Talon kidnapped her, mutated and brainwashed her and finally sent her to kill the husband, as the final step of her transformation into Widowmaker. They could do the same to anyone.

Winston was the one that designed the thing on Tracers chest (chrono accelerator) which allowed her to blink forward or backwards in time.

Late to the party here, but here's a bit of info about Tracer . . . Leena "Tracer" Oxton was a test pilot. At one point, she was placed behind the controls of an experimental teleporting jet codenamed Slipstream. It turned out to be an unintentionally time-traveling jet, and vanished without a trace. Weeks later, Tracer reappeared. She was unable to touch anything and kept flickering in and out of existence until Winston built the "Chronal Accelerator" she wears on her chest. It keeps her anchored to the present and allows her to manipulate her own passage through time. She can "Blink" forward and Recall a few seconds backwards.

For anyone who's like "omg where's RWBY!" I'm pretty sure she said she was going to rewatch volume 1 on her own before she starts volume two. Hold your horses everybody :)

"Omnics" are simply the term for intelligent robots.

The omnic war was way before this cinematic happened. There was a peace treaty between the omnics and the humans, but there was still a lot of controversy.

This is definitely one of my favourites, though The Last Bastion is my absolute fav, look forward to that.

Yeah the Talon mercenaries are deadly [Reaper, Widowmaker and a few others]

As others have pointed out, Mondotta was the leader of a robo-religious sect, who wanted to make peace after the Omnic War. One of the PCs is part of his order, and the cyber-ninja, Genji, found peace through them. This happened the same night as 'Recall', so Winston was a tad busy at the moment, so to speak. This was before the Cinematic trailer, but was not the cause of the Omnic war, a years before. As for her chest piece, due to an accident, Lena Oxton is unstuck in time, and stays anchored via the 'chronal accelerator' that Winston made for her. That is what Tracer wears, and allows to blink and do a brief rewind. The chief bodyguard was relatively reasonable, especially dealing with an unknown on the radio, but quick to react anyway. Now if he had just had the sense to park the vehicle closer, and the route to it being in cover.

The Omnic with three glowing dots on his head at the beginning is in fact Zenyatta, one of the playable characters.

This one is my favorite solely because of Tracer's facial animations near the end. Ahhhh.

He's like a robotic Ghandi. And think of the omnic as like the minority fighting for civil rights. Some humans don't think they deserve rights, some do. Where as you have some who are willing to fight for their rights, resulting in riots.

Molllyyy It did have a full blown war earlier on. As well as there being those like Mondatta and Zenyatta, who tried to achieve equality through peaceful means, there were those like the extremists Null Sector who utilised violence and terrorism. Not too dissimilar to the White Fang story in RWBY.

The Omincs were designed as servant drones, but when they advanced to point that it was slavery, they asked for rights and the humans shut their factories down; then the factories started up on their own and waves of armed soldier omnics started pouring out, almost completely controlled by by 3 AI programs, named after gods; there was a massive war; which finally ended in a truce, although there is still a lot of mistrust, with whole nations and governments being anti-omnic, most soldier units being destroyed (like the Bastions) and a lot forced to live in ghettos or shipped off the Australia.

If you are working security and someone unauthorised just comes onto your channel, especially if it is secure or encrypted, and starts telling you of danger. You don't know if it is an assassin trying to make you respond in order to bring the protectee into the line of fire. That is the reason that the body guard doesn't react until they hear the gunfire.

The shot went through Tracer because she 'Blinked' at the moment it was about to hit her. She can practically disappear and reappear at the same spot or at a certain distance within a certain interval.

The lore is a bit complicated as the timeline of all the events in Overwatch is pretty broad. There were 2 omnic crisis at which they went on a rampage (don't remember why), so all over the world there are many people who distrust them. At the recent events / state of the story for example there are nations like the UK oder in Numbany where omnics are welcomed and where they live in peace and other nations (russia and i think australia) where they still fight against them actively..

This takes place after the "Omnic Crisis" which was a global war of humans fighting Omnics. The war started because the humans were going to deactivate them all (I think an Omnic killed someone and a law was passed that outlawed them but i'm not sure).

Widow has such a cool voice. Iron Man is a good equivalent for Tracer, it keeps her from floating through time.

"The bad girl"... that's awesome =) Widowmaker is only the second most iconic character in this game, after Tracer. And I don't even play Overwatch.

A lot of people died in the omnic wars. Terminator type chaos.

Widowmaker(purple lady),used to be the wife of an Overwatch agent,she was kidnapped by Talon and brainwashed to kill her husband in their sleep,which she did,after that,she came back to talon,they made her the perfect assassin lowering her heart rate,which turned her skin blue,then she continued to work for talon,Tracer(British Protagonist) has the ability to control her own time,she used to be a test pilot for the slipstream,the first time traveling Jet,but it failed,she was then hit with a disease we know as "chronal disassociation",which caused her to disappear and reappear from time randomly,Winston then made an item called the "chronal accelerator" which let's her control her own timeline and be able to speed up or rewind her time,which that moment when Widowmaker shot a bullet and she "rewind back in time to not get hit,she checked her chest cause that's the chronal accelerator and if it was destroyed or damage,she has a chance to dissapear from time again,this takes place some time after the omnic crisis and the omnic uprising,the next one I think is Dragons AND IT IS MY FAVORITE ONE OUT OF THEM ALL WITH MY 2 FAVORITE CHARACTERS IN THE GAME,IT ALSO SHOWS ALOT OF STORY AND THE FIGHT SCENE IS ALSO ONE OF THE BEST OUT OF ALL OF THESE I did it again,didn't I

U have the best/worst timing to upload for me XO Was playing a game of battlefield when my phone alerted of ur upload that i quit the game to watch :P the Omnic were bad but when the war ended, some of then wanted peace and tried like this one did. but some people didnt want that so its kinda like the civl rights movement but with robots now.

Good reaction but, need to clarify something. These shorts take place after the omnics war, which is the reason the world is at odds with them. The game doesn't explain any of this and alot of the story is on blizzard website, along with character information. Love the reactions, pls do more.

Dragon's by far the best one (imo), it's more action packed with such a great storytelling

The assassin was Widowmaker. Thus the Black Widow. One of the baddies, but can't deny that was a hell of a shot. Head shot while falling aiming through Tracer. Tracer, by the way, wasn't her target, it was the leader all along, even in the final shot. She was anticipating Tracer getting away in time.

I wouldn't say she was anticipating tracer to move... Pretty sure she planned to do so if tracer didn't move she would have died or she if she did move which she did, kill the omnic

A little background on the omnics for you Molllyyy. Many years ago, many self aware computers, for reasons no one knows, began producing a massive robot army to wage war on the world. The nation's had no response and were losing the war. This prompted the United Nations to found Overwatch, and they ended the war. After the war, many of the omnics, which were the robots who fought, gained self awareness after disconnecting from all the computers that created them. Many of them now fight for peace between omnics and humans, because the omnics are discriminated against after the war. In the current time of the game, the computers have started producing more omnics under their control, starting the second omnic crisis. An easy way to tell between omnics who are good and ones who are bad is that, good ones are mostly human looking, while bad ones (with a few exceptions line bastion) look like war machines. After the original "Omnic Crisis" war, Overwatch was crucial in allowing peace to be brokered between humans and Omnics. However, in many parts of the world Omnics are still distrusted and/or treated as second-class citizens. That's why peace rallies like the one in ALIVE are necessary. Widowmaker works for the terrorist group, "Talon". She must have been hired by someone who does not want there to be coexistence for some reason. The newscast with the 50,000 dead in RECALL was referring to a second "Omnic Crisis" where Omnics have become violent again. So far the violence is confined to Russia, but the threat of it becoming a global problem once again is always looming in the background of the game.

Don't worry, all of the released shorts are from season 1, there will be season 2.

Yeah, this was kind of sad. Tracer would feel bad about having failed, but at least she did manage to slow down Widowmaker. You asked "Where's Winston?", and I had that same reaction when I first saw it. But I also wondered "Where's Reaper?" Since neither of them were there, I'm guessing this is shortly after the Recall short, so Winston may have called Tracer but they haven't gotten to America yet. If you notice, the Clock tower sure looks like Big Ben to me, which is in London. I could be wrong, that may be a different clock. This could have taken place on the Eastern seaboard of the US. I like your hair! Looks good!

Just information, none of this is spoilers since it was all available from the start and is not in any of the upcoming animated shorts. Omnics are artificial intelligence, they were not designed to have it but they developed it over time since their software was self-improving, originally they were created just to help humans. The "Omnic Crisis", a war between humans and Omnics started after the company that first created them was shut down due to fraud and other illegal activity, nobody knows (within the lore itself) the true reason why Omnics suddenly decided to attack humanity, it's clear that the vast majority of Omnics were being controlled. Also again, this isn't a spoiler, but you can only find this information out by reading up on it. The woman in this, Widowmaker, she used to just be a normal person - she was married to an Overwatch agent and because of that she was kidnapped by a terrorist group and they subjected a lot of experiments on her eventually adding in a lot of sort of mindcontrol. She was eventually rescued by Overwatch who thought she was largely fine. Two weeks later she killed her husband in his sleep and left to return to the terrorist organisation, where they continued to experiment on her, that's why her skin has changed to blue now and things like that. The woman she was, Amelie is dead and Widowmaker is who she is now.

Dragons, the next one, is really good and kind of emotional. But the one after that, Hero, is my personal favorite though Infiltration is a very close second.

The omnics are the robots. Not all of them are bad. In fact, most of them are good or neutral. The ones who killed over 50,000 people are the bad ones, though they aren't directly associated to any one group, to my knowledge. Think of Omnics as the Faunus from RWBY, and the ones who killed all those people are like the White Fang. They're tired of being mistreated and pushed around, so they struck back with lethal force. And if we're talking about favorites, mine has to be Dragons, without even a shadow of a doubt.

Kozuto 16 nope, the omnics themselves are more or less like humans, but a central computer called omnium took control over them and decided to wipe out humanity, that's the first omnic war, when Overwatch was formed

I've got two game trailers for you that blow all the Overwatch ones out of the water. *Sacrifice* and *Betrayed,* in that order, for Star Wars: the Old Republic (searching for "swtor sacrifice" does the trick). They're a little on the darker side, but I'm sure you'll like them. :)

I'd like to recommend you watch the death battle between Tracer and Scout. they go really in depth analyzing the characters and it'll give you a back story on Tracer. also there's lots of death battles out there from ScrewAttack and they're always entertaining. yeah my favorites is between Spider-Man and Batman.

James Curfman Widowmaker is just following orders from Talon leadership, due to her lacking emotions, she probably doesn't care who she kills. Talon, as an organisation though, is trying to spark the Second Omnic Crisis. People hate and are afraid of Omnics because of the First Omnic Crisis, when closed down fabrication factories that were once owned by Omnica Corporation started producing war machines using their Omniums, supervised by God Programs, putting mankind on a brink complete anarchy. 50,000 people were killed in Russia, as The Second Omnic Crisis is starting, with Siberian Omnium activating all of a sudden. There are other Omniums that are still active.
