Overlooked Game Boy Games

Ойындар

The Game Boy was an amazing portable that offered many timeless classics. With its diverse library of games, many great titles got overlooked. In this video, I show five games that did not get a lot of attention in the library that were different and worth playing.

Asterix, Avenging Spirit, Battle of Olympus, Boxxle, Dr Franken, Drop Zone, Fire Fighter, Kwirk, Parodius. Qix, Speedy Gonzales, Star Hawk and many others!!!!!! It's a lot of fun and in my top 3 favourite consoles of all time :-)

In most games you can readily tell that the GameBoy only allowed 3 shades of gray for sprites with one color reserved for transparency. Choplifter cleverly made the sky a uniform white canvas so they could design their sprites with holes where they want them to be white on screen (e.g. the tank). That gave it an edge in visual fidelity.

Try these Game Boy titles. King of the Zoo (Penguin Wars. Japanese title) Ghostbusters 2, Robocop, Qix, Lock 'n Chase, Kirby's Block Ball, Monster Max, Mario Picross, Burger Time Deluxe, BC Kid 2, Revenge of the Gator Pinball, Kirby's Pinball Land, Double Dragon, Avenging Spirit (fantastic game where you play a ghost who can possess enemies and use them to discover who stole your girlfriend and you waking up as a ghost) Balloon Kid (Balloon Fight sequel, plays like Joust)

Gargoyles, Gargoyles Quest I & II ( II is a Japanese import). I also Love Turican and Oddworld Adventures. But the two games I never ever hear people talk about is Dr. Franken I & II. I just fell in love with those two games for some oddball reason. Thanks for another Great video and Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones!!

Love the Game Boy! It the first console that was mine exclusively. Most if the games I played were the big names, but I had a fun budget title called Radar Mission. It’s a submarine game with two modes: one is just like Battleship, and the second is a simple shooter. Still fun today!

Thanks John, I'll be checking out Fortified Zone and Solomon's Key thanks to your video. Already had the others. ;D I love classic GameBoy. The limited pixels and color palate really distilled gaming to it's most basic elements. When a game shines on GameBoy it's better than its 16bit counterparts.

I am Like 223 Dude. Fortified Zone was definitely the GameBoy game I borrowed alot from my cousin. Ive never heard of Choplifter 2. I would play part 1 religiously in the Bowling Alley Arcade Room among other old school Arcade Games back in the day. I have the Rom and will play it every now and again. The chopper animations and combat on that version is just as good. I will definitely go looking looking for the Rom in a bit. As far as GameBoy Games go. Try Ren and Stimpys Space Cadet Adventures lol.

That Metal Masters game looks pretty cool, never heard of it before. I never had a GB so a lot of games outside of the big titles are all new to new. Heres some of my recommendations - Operation C, Balloon Kid, Bionic Commando, Ninja Boy, any of the Mega Man games, Motocross Maniacs, Bonk's Adventure, Nemesis, Gradius, Rolan's Curse 1 and 2, Sword of Hope 1 and 2, Final Fantasy Adventure/Legends - R-Type DX and Shadowgate Classic are both GB Color but the backwards compatible type (you can tell if they re a solid black plastic not the clear plastic)

The gameboy/color/advance are my favorites to collect for, i have over 300 games among all three. The love the giant range of different genres and games and just how many good titles were on these systems. I also love the many different ways available to play them. I Personally love playing on the SGB2 and also the GB Player with the GBI software. One recommendation I will give to new collectors is to try out buying Japanese titles. So many playable games without the need of knowing Japanese are only like $1-5 on ebay. Every once in a while I will spend a night or two going through JPN ebay posts, mostly from one seller Ive bought a lot from, and I will end up getting like 20 or more games for $50-60.

The games I have on my GameBoy have aged really well! They are just as fun now as then! Maybe it is nostalgia, I do not know. Well, I have not tried all, I don`t have that many either. The last game I bought new was Warioland, really good game still! I also played a lot of Parasol Stars, Turtles 2, Mega Man and Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle. And I did play the first level of Battletoads alot..... And some others. The Game Boy is one of the absolute best "Consoles" ever, very fond memories when I play it now.

Anything in the Dragon Warrior (Dragon Quest) series and anything labeled Final Fantasy Legends (even if they are just Saga series games released under a marketable name). There's also Final Fantasy Adventure (the original Mana series game) and Revelations: Demon Slayers (SMT series if I recall correctly). I suppose Pokemon counts too but who doesn't know those exist at this point? Then there's Metal Walker, which I know next to nothing about. And I think that's about it unless there was an Ultima series title on the handheld (I can't recall) or you want to get into all the different Zelda titles.

There's a GBC game that I strongly recommend. It's called Power Quest and it's the best two-button fighting game I've ever played that is not on NGPC. And I play a lot of fighters. I don't know how expensive it is but it's very good. I know, right? A two-button fighting game that's actually good?! Yep! It's not good for GBC, it's just straight good.
