Basil Salazar all models of the ps2 turn off when they reach a certain temperature now it wasn't perfect but most do and it prevents any permanent heat damage to the ps2 most of the time

14' to me,and works fine for now,the only things is that its a bit weird,when i am in the menu the fan turns slower and the PS4 gets a bit more hot but its still okey,but if i play a game the fan turns faster and starts to cold,maybe some thermal paste is missing,i should clean it up soon lol

I made a rookie mistake with my PS4. It's a Sony refurbished launch console with a 2TB drive installed. It started running hot and the fan started getting louder about three years into owning it. Took it apart. Thermal paste was dried out. Applied some new paste...and then it actually overheated. So I take it back apart. Turns out the dry thermal paste was half the issue. The the cooling fins were clogged with dust. Near as I can figure enough heat was bleeding out around the old paste that the fan was just clearing it passively (as in not through the heat sink). When I replaced the paste all the heat was being transferred to the heat sink as it should be. But the sink was clogged. So it actually built up more heat internally than it did with the old dried paste. After I cleaned the heat sink out, system fan quieted down significantly and the system has been running like a champ since then.

Yep, this is common. So many people think it needs new thermal paste. 95% of overheating repairs we get here are either a clogged heat sink or a faulty fan.

Have never had any problems with PlayStation Consoles since 1997. Is good to see what happens when it overheats. I have installed a 4TB for my PS4 Pro and have never had issues of overheating, they are really build good with Air Cool.

I cleaned my PS4 after it was overheating, and used one of your videos and went step by step with you... everything works great now, so great infact, that I thought the fan wasn’t connected because it was so quiet.... I have the tuxedo black first edition... the light blinks red when it overheated... i got it used, and it sounded like an airplane since day one... it sounds silent now... dead silent... I redid the thermal paste, I even had a little wire and a rag and cleaned the fins of the heat sink... I think it’s better than a new one. Lol.

Thank you! Since Dreams, my Pro goes to high fan and it had my concerned. It’s two years old.

My Nintendo blew up on me years ago. I took it apart. It looked like somebody sprayed shaving cream on a few parts of the machine. I put it back together. They sent me a new one.

The Red Dead Redemption 2 experience

I opened mine up after for the first time in 5 years and was pleased to see barely any dust inside. Im not tech savvy so I just quickly cleaned the fan of the little dust it had and the surrounding areas and called it day. I keep it on a shelf but with plenty of space to breathe, always laid flat.

Ive had my ps4 since Christmas of 2015 and it got really loud over the years. I re-applied thermal paste to the CPU and I can hardly hear the fan playing Rdr2.

Steve, have you ever tried to put the PS4 in a tight spot to test? Something like one those TV racks with 5~10 cm of space on each side / above.

Thanks for telling the signs of over heating now I dont have to worry.

My 2013 PS4 was getting so loud playing red dead 2 that I thought it was going to burst into flames at any moment. Nice to know it was just having to overcompensate for the dust inside and wasn't in danger of actual failure. I already took it apart a little bit just by removing the power supply and cleaning the fan and the accessible parts of the heatsink and that worked really well and its pretty quiet now. I can tell I've watched too much tronicsfix because I now want to strip it down completely even though I have no need to!

Also, if the fan turns off TURN OFF THE PS4 NOW TELL YOUR FRIENDS IT MIGHT OVERHEAT

The PS4 is too *_lukewarm_* -takes out the fire extinguisher-

love how people that play consoles are somehow surprised about this... im surprised the console doesn't try throttling first, reduce speed of hardware as gets hotter and hotter.. may make game play more choppy and less playable but its common way PC hardware handles thermals.. if temp curves too steep just reduce clock speeds of GPU and CPU, if that fails to keep temps under control and gets too hot then shut down.. i do wish more PCs told you when temps are too high.. but its incredibly rare it would ever need to thanks to layers of other protections, just nice add on feature should be considered.

What are your thoughts on cooling fans for consoles, do they actually reduce the temperature?

Unlikely, but the ethernet is onboard, which means its integrated to the motherboard. A damaged board could bring network issues.

I've overheated my PS4 twice this year, the second time was about two weeks ago. How did this happen? I left my console on for three days straight, whilst playing online games during the day and watching NETFLIX at night. My console is positioned in a well vented area and I often have my fan on and my door wide open but that did not stop it from overheating. I turned it all off for about an hour and turned it back on, I heard the start up sound but my screen, there was no picture. Eventually the picture came back the same day, or if it's your first time overheating the console then it will be fine the next day. Moral of the story, don't disable the sleep timer on your console, even if the room is well ventilated. Thanks 👍

Man, you knocked out the console, they're like motor engines what do you expect? Every console can be active in maximum of 24 hours.

chase allen using a fan will cause the heat coming out from the PS4 to go back in

I like how my PS4 broke because it overheated 5 months ago and for some reason I'm here again. I still have flashbacks when I see the PS4 is too hot screen

i bought a fan for the back of my ps4 slim that sucks the hot air out. with that at and fan in the ps4 kicking on, i was worried it was going to get fried. i guess it's all right as long as no error comes on. thank you for posting this video. i was pretty concerned.

I've just opened my ps4 pro for the 1st time thanks to one of your videos it was the release model of pro and it overheated loads to the point it powered down and I never seen the red light
