    For that money that is a great deal. And great job in fixing it. The fan should be opened from the back side. Just like the old PC fan. They used to have a rubber plug that after removing it gave access to an C clip that held the shaft in place.

    Nice find. You should also always clean the round rubber on the spindle motor when cleaning an optical assembly. (q-tip and alcohol) That makes the disk stick while rotating. I too have 3 PS3's and looking for a cheap PS4 to get hold of.

    It's a kit from Kaiweets. I mentioned it here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZqZ-zdySlMydqLQ.html The screwdriver kit is nice. The bits are sturdy - the handle is not the best. It's still in one piece but the locking mechanism is not smooth anymore. That said, it sells for £16 and for that price I think it's amazing to have! Thanks for watching!

  • @tony359

    @tony359

    5 ай бұрын

    I am not 100% sure to be honest. If the fan has 3 wires, it should be working with 12V - the third wire is the tachometer FROM the fan. If it has 4 wires, then you need a PWM controller.

    You should be able to hear the fan spinning though. If it doesn't spin, then you'll hear it. In doubt, you can do as I did in the video and keep the fan outside of the case so you see if it spins or not - only for a short time though or the APU will overheat.

  • @tony359

    Nobody can! What I can say is that if you just remove the bottom cover, you can see the fan and you should be able to see the heatsink through the fan. You can remove the bulk of the dirt with some tool. You'll need a torx tool to remove the screws at the back. But nobody can assure you nothing will go wrong! If not mistaken you can save a backup of your game situation on the cloud, make sure you do that before you do anything! Thanks for watching and good luck!

    This console wasn't the worst i ever seen. Got an xbox 360 that had way more dust but mostly cat hairs inside, the controllers had half a packet of crisps and beer residu inside. The older consoles are way cleaner to work on. The fan probably has a clip on the other side of the shaft, drilling open the centre on that side should give access to that. Worst case there is some nice copper wire for trace repair inside of it👍

    I didn't think of drilling the other end, thanks! Oh yes, I've seen videos of worse consoles online. Still, if I had a "device" and it starts making the sound of an airplane, I would take it to someone who can take a look? :) Thanks for watching!

    @@samuraidriver4x4 Unfortunately. To be honest I kind of understand them: I can do this myself but if you need to pay someone, it might not be worth. We live in the disposable era unfortunately. Let's say that maybe those consoles could be built to allow the user to remove a flap and clean the heatsink - I believe the PS5 has something similar? The PS4 WILL need a clean at some point...

  • @samuraidriver4x4

    @samuraidriver4x4

    @@tony359 indeed, repairs also got alot more expensive because they are difficult due to SMD components. If a transistor in the TX amplifier of a CB burned out it was an easy job but replacing a USB-C port is a whole other ballgame making it alot more expensive. I doubt sony wants their customers cleaning a heatsinks because they rather sell a new console.😂 And you know what's going to happen when they add a flap to access the heatsink, someone is going to use some hot soapy water to "deepclean" it🤣

    Local adverts I guess. Facebook marketplace, local websites and Ebay! But beware, it's VERY easy to get some very abused items. If you go that route, I'd recommend you only buy sealed units. That way you know the owner did not open it and made things worse.

    My ps4 has overheating problem not even 3mins has passed it suddenly turns off with a warning sign of overheating. So, I tried opening it and cleaning all of its components and putting thermal paste, done it all for the first time. Still overheating, but improved I tried stay idle in a game for more than 30mins. So, I tried changing the fan, the thermal pad looks still okay not dry so not changing it and now it's good no jet engine noise and there's no burning like smell (the power cord is not the problem and so the outlet because its not hot). Beside the fan the cause of overheating might be the wires not properly connected, screwing too tightly, loose power cord, too much thermal paste on cpu or too thick thermal pads. In addition, when putting thermal paste put a little bit more in the middle of cpu and dont use liquid thermal paste they say its bad for ps4. If one thermal pad has crack change it too.

    My experience is limited with PS4 but I guess you're not re-assembling it correctly. Have you replaced the RAM pads by any chance? If they're too thick, the CPU won't be allowed to sit on the heatsink properly. Does the PS4 overheats straight away or after a while?

    The PS4 does not have a "heat spreader" that can go wrong so I suspect two things 1. Error in re-assembling 2. Memory thermal pads are misplaced or too thick (did you replace them?) and they prevent the heatsink from touching the actual CPU. You can TEMPORARILY trying without the memory thermal pads to test. Are you sure the fan is running?
