Yeah, their prices are absolutely insane. They're selling PS2 slim models for $185. I have multiple slims I spent no more than 40-50 on per console on (locally, online, marketplace), which came with games, memory cards and multiple official controllers. I have no idea how DKOldies even lists their consoles for that much but people still buy them

See this is the thing. They buy their consoles and games in lots and yard sales and save BIG on it. They have absolutely no issues with profit margins. This is just laziness and greed from the owner.

Man, I'd be freaking furious if I had received that PS3. That thing ain't worth more than $50 in that condition. It's honestly a miracle it still works as well as it does. I see why they have those warranty stickers on them, since opening them up voids their warranty and they don't have to do crap even in these types of events.

That's why nobody goes through with it. And trust me, companies will just make a BS reason why anyways.

Ask yourself, if the second hand store or donations fixed and cleaned every product you buy, you think they’ll sell for cheap? When I did appliance deliveries I never understood how some people would buy “refurbished” and then start complaining when we’d deliver about scuffs and dents etc like.... didn’t you know this when you bought it? Or you just wanted the refurbished priced with a like new appliance? He’s not going to be splitting machines open to clean them when you won’t do it yourself (or you may, but majority won’t risk it) and then expect to pay the same price. Yes they’re high, but that’s anywhere you go. If you have a decent pc then emulate what you can but if you don’t you’re only option is one of these consoles like it or not, the supply isn’t growing after 12-20 years for some consoles. Then again, everyone buys half assed stuff, so why wouldn’t the next guy decide to do the same? Sadly the people being honest and nice don’t make money, and those stingy and deceitful make bank. So if you want better prices do the work to find them, check second hand stores or ask older folks who no longer have their children around if they have any old consoles, you might just get lucky - otherwise unfortunately or fortunately it’s one these guys we have to deal with!

Edit: I am aware that the sticker itself is not illegal, but many companies do void the warranty if the sticker is tampered with, which is illegal according to the FTC. Sure, it's getting harder to find good deals and some communities don't have great video game stores, but the prices they're asking demand a lot more than "it works!" And I KNEW I heard of them somewhere, and thus remembered this controversy. Sure, labour costs money, but then be honest about expectations and cost. "Your console may not be refurbished, but it'll look good and function, plus you'll have a warranty, and you'll be supporting a company that's dedicated to ensuring ease of access to classics"...then again, that last part pretty much necessitates refurbishing :|

We used pliers to get the piece off and it was legit a melted piece of some other game that was stuck in there, then after 2 weeks the gameboy wouldn’t turn back on and when I called about getting a replacement or refund after I told them of the situation they said they couldn’t do anything because we decided to try to fix it which to them is tampering with the product apparently what I was suppose to do was call them about the piece being stuck in the slot and pay to send it to them and pay them to send it back to me.

Hey Austin, make sure to play that Dreamcast for longer than just a few minutes. It's a common issue with older Dreamcasts where the solder on the power port will become brittle enough that once it heats the system will reboot, cooling the solder just enough for it to boot back up almost immediately. It looks like a software reboot, but it's a full power circle due to bad solder.

  • @ChiefPeep

What’s the main problem is the inside of the stuff they sell. Like your friend in the video said that’s the main complaint. Even if the outside doesn’t look bad the inside is full of dust and possibly bugs. It’s a scam because they don’t clean the console’s inside. These consoles you could probably play for like a few months or a year max before it stops working because of how poorly the condition they’re selling it to you in.

Just buy second hand from someone. Seriously. I've got 30+ consoles, all acquired for roughly 30-40 bucks at most (with exceptions, some even cheaper, and only a few a bit more expensive). All I had to do was do a teardown myself and clean it up on the inside. There's hundreds of videos online on how to do that. You also always get extra stuff with it like controllers, sometimes even games. It's just not worth it buying from them, even if they were cheaper and actually refurbished the consoles.

Oh, taking a Wii apart is a pain. I question them opening and cleaning these on the inside as long as nothing is obviously broken. I took all my old consoles apart as the big plastic box I was storing them in smelled really bad (chemical) and I feared leaking caps. Later I found out that the plastic used for this box secretes this stench, gathering it inside when being closed for a while, even though I have other similar boxes that don't do this... Btw, we have a 20GB 360 and it's loud like a hover. Cleaning on the inside and replace thermal paste (remember this being a pain) did nothing to improve this. But the one in the video sounds even worse, not louder but like it will break down any moment now. 15 years isn't a "very old console" though. 15 is nothing. xD
