Rudy you are the best. Story time with me. I have a client (good person) he doesn’t have the money for a groom and he doesn’t want me to do a free groom (ok, I get it). I asked him can I at least get his paws he looked at me puzzled and I broke it down why and he agreed to his paws being done 😁 It’s not always about the money . Keep up the great work Rudy

I know he felt so much better when you were done. I clip my dogs nails and usually do fine but last time I hit 3 quicks on one dog, didn't bleed much and he seemed fine, but to my eyes the nails still didn't look very short. You did this with such ease and even while cutting off so much, you never hit the quick. I'm impressed.

Quicks can be long or short depending on the dog regardless of the nails length. I have hit the quick once on each of my two dogs and after I started clipping in very short increments to prevent it. If you see the dark center you know you’re very close to the quick and to not clip more. I generally do 2-3 short increments per nail per trim session and I clip my dogs’ nails about once every 2 weeks. Since I started clipping this way I haven’t hit a quick.

@@GroomingByRudy was able to get my livestock guardian dog's rear dew claws fixed quickly this morning thanks to your instruction. Feel terrible for not noticing they had circled around into the pad. But, using a goat hoof trimmer took care of them quickly and cleaned them. Will be monitoring now to see if the more eggregious will require more attention. Feel so bad. But so grateful I did not have to make her suffer longer til a vet had availability.

It’s crazy how long dog nails can grow. This reminded me of your older video “When dog nails get too long.” The dog must feel fully relieved after you clipped its nails. You guys do such an incredible job, great work😉❤️👍!

For my personal dogs (certainly not a grooming pro...), nail-trims have always been a harrowing experience for all involved. Getting a diamond-bit grinder for my dremel has made ALL the difference in nail trims. 1) no clippers that draw blood 2) they didn't like the paper grit barrels 3) diamond bit is contoured and doesn't heat up like the paper ones, and less vibration/chatter, so they're ok with it. The huge thing (after 25 years of dog ownership) is they don't like to be standing or sitting while I do them. I've taught them to lay on their side or backs (psychologically teaches them to relax) and let them have a spa-day while I grind their nails. The nail trims over the past year since I got the diamond bit has gone from a terrifying chore for everyone to a "me first!" response from my dogs, coming up and rolling onto their backs so I can grind their nails. OMG! Such a difference!

Is it a ball shaped bit or the wheel shaped one? Could you post a link to what you use pls? Thanks, I have a large dog too that groomers can't wrangle long enough to cut his nails. They always return in after a few clips and full refund lol

Rudy - you always make me so grateful to have discovered you years ago. I was SO nervous about doing my dogs nails, and your calm nature really helped me conquer my fears - and I'm so pleased my YorkiPoo and I have a regular routine. No problems!! Thanks for continuing to show us what can happen if we don't keep up with these things. The pads on this little cutie really looked sore...and honestly...how could they not be. Thanks again and Happy 4th!! 🇺🇸 🎆

Rudy, thank you for another great video. I adopted my first dog over six months ago and she was fearful of strangers and needed her nails trimmed. After reviewing many videos, yours were the only ones that spoke to overgrown nails like hers and how I shouldn’t dremel them while they were so long. She was patient with me and you showed me how to see the quick in black nails. With your guidance about gaining and keeping her trust first, we have slowly gotten her quick to recede and she relaxes through the 5 minute sessions knowing peanut butter awaits. THANK YOU for making these videos and giving us the confidence we need to take care of our dogs!

Awwww, precious baby. It's scary for me to cut my 9-month-old Chihuahua-mix's nails, but my son helps keep her calm as I cut. Thank you for the cat clipper idea, I think I will buy those! I've always had big dogs and assumed the small dog nail clippers would be fine, but they are too big for my tiny pup. I used to use my nailclippers when I first brought her home. Love your videos! Thank you!

I'm 68 which should mean experienced, but i struggle. Long time back heard the term "just tip them" if I'd let them get too long, once s week. I watched this & it did take you just 5 mins at most. Some i take to vet. Pitties are too thick & 1 chiweenie bites at me when i try. Vet muzzles her. Thanks for sharing bc my 3 are my all. I lost husband and youngest son result of our housefire. Son got me out & went back inside for 8 mini weinie dogs but was too late. Oldest son had heart attack here at house. All my furbabies are on my bed with me every night. BFs forever!

How do you clip so much off without hitting the quick? My mom has Yorkies and one dog really needs his nails trimmed, but I'm afraid we'll trim to short and it will bleed.

Please say you told the owner to go to a vet to get their pups skin looked at because that looked like a bad skin infection all over her body and to get antibiotics for that abscess so it doesn’t get worse. That poor puppy I am so glad you were able to help her.

I'd be petrified to go this low, my shorkie I take a lil off but probably not near enough cause I hit a quick and didn't feel like I went short really. I felt so bad I almost had a heart attack and grabbed the flour.

These great but not helping my with my golden retrievers. They are much larger and normally require sedatives to get their nails clipped. I can’t afford the crazy vet bill and my heart breaking because I feel I’m neglecting my pups. Carter is not having it and even now has my younger one biting me when I try. He had never bit before but that was NOT a play bite
