Excellent video! My pekingnese used to walk with us every day and so I never really had to clip his nails. Well he is getting older and doesn't walk as much and his nails have become over grown. I took him to the vet and other places but they always seem to hurt him. He cries out. So I was determined to learn how. I was terrified to hurt him and kept watching videos all the time and every week try to clip his nails but I would chicken out. Well finally after a year of trying and watching I successfully trimmed his nails!! I did the front only a little since the quick was close and his nails were long. I did his back feet the following week. Now this week I did the front again, very small amount but already they look so much better. I can tell he feels better and no crying out! Next week will be the back again and then the week after his front and then week after his back. Then I will do as needed now that I know how to do it! Yay!! I don't feel like a horrible mom anymore!! I also began wiping his teeth every night and brushing them every week. Still working to get better at the brushing but his mouth smells better and his teeth are beginning to look better. Yay!! Thanks to videos like yours my fur baby is getting proper care! I was quick to learn how to groom him and keep him free from knots ( don't brush but use a comb lol) but the nails and teeth were a challenge! Thank you and God bless you!

These are so satisfying to watch, it drives me crazy when people let their dogs’ nails get overgrown like this!

@@zatzki then you need to take him to the vets to get it done, they will restrain him safely and trim them. If they still can’t get them done they’ll sedate him. From then on you need to work with him getting his paws being touched and messed with. Pretend to trim his nails without actually trimming them, when he’s calm and still give him a treat and reward him then you can start taking small bits off at a time. Even if you get one or two nails done a day it’s better than letting them get so long like this, it’s extremely painful for them especially on older dogs it messes up their joints and pushed their paw to rock back

You're so good with him.... compassionate, unlike the one woman that I've watched groom who's so rough and always seems to be scared of the dogs she grooms. You've just fixed my "Karen" moments with her :) ;) Just an aside: Not all women who complain and are upset are "karens" LOL

@@sunkat76 oh no! I think Rover's makeover is good with the pups as well. The one I'm talking about is a thin woman of about 30(ish) who constantly muzzles the dogs, talks to them meanly and doesn't give the dogs any rest... heck she even muzzled a golden retreiver who you could tell was so nervous he was shaking. I think she's "my favorite groomer" I understand some dogs can be agressive, but in the 6 or 7 videos I've watched of hers she was always abrupt with the dogs while using nice words and just not someone I'd let get close to my dogs.

I hold my breath everytime you clipped 😂. I wish I have that confident when using clippers. By the way, if they have overgrown nails, does that mean their quicks are also growing? Or not? Because I saw you cut the super overgrown nail confidently as if the quick have a fixed maximum length and you know where it is. Thanks Rudy for always inspiring.

Thank you so much for your kind comment..The quick, does grow out with the nail,to a certain extent also depending on breed type..Its hard to notice from the video, but I was able to see the vein, more or less..lots of practice will increase your confidence, believe me,everytime I groom a dog I get nervous..lol.thank you so much for watching us, and commenting..

@@GroomingByRudy thank you! My dog is a boxer. I can see some of his quicks but some nails covered in dark purple color (I don't know if it's blood or the nails change colors). Anyway, I cut very short most of the time and continue with grinder (play safe 😁)
