Overcoming Stuttering

Hey everyone! This is just me sharing my experience on how I learned to communicate a bit more clearly.
I had to trim a good amount from this video to get it under 60 seconds (so it can be used in KZread Shorts), so if you want more information, I left a longer version here: / clesohblccq
I really want to emphasize that it's using your voice to COMMUNICATE and listen back that will help. If you just read pages out of a textbook or something, it may help with enunciation, but not as much when you actually need to translate your thoughts to words.
I hope that can help you out and you all have a beautiful day!

Speech therapy didn’t work for me, but that book and the authors program did! 3 жыл бұрын

@@TehUltimateSnake Honestly I grew up reading Warhammer and Warhammer 40k books, and I would seriously give those a try if you like gritty and grusome fantasy/sci-fi books. They're all very descriptive and use some amazing vocabulary, so I often come across words I don't recognize and I end up looking them up or googling them. I recommend physically writing down the word and definitions of words you don't recognize. You don't have to study them or anything, it's just that I find the action of physically writing them down helps me to cement them in my memory. Then again everyone learns differently, so do what's best for you. As for specific book recommendations for getting into Warhammer I would read the Gotrek and Felix series of books and I also thoroughly enjoyed the series Brunner the Bounty Hunter. Right now I'm reading The Return of Nagash, but that book ties into a lot of events that have happened in other books by different authors and features a lot of characters prevalent in Warhammer lore that it's hard to appreciate them unless you knew about them before hand. For Warhammer 40k, I would recommend starting out with a short story omnibus like Hammer and Bolter or reading the series Gaunt's Ghosts or Ciaphas Cain. The series that really got me into Warhammer 40k was actually Path of the Warrior by Gav Thorpe. That series was fantastic! This isn't Warhammer related, but The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson is probably my favorite book of all time, so I fully recommend reading that one first! Also the Vlad Taltos series by Steven Brust is awesome too!

I'm not saying people with stutters aren't smarter, but I also wouldn't say people with stutters are at a state of higher intelligence. I used to have a stutter when I was younger and I can personally tell you it wasn't racing thoughts that caused the stutter. Even Hampton said it, it was the excitement. The truth is, I'm sure the stutter is caused by emotions and emotion is not the same thing as intelligence. Although.. the emotion you feel when you stutter is a very high and positive vibration.

I think it's more about your brain needing more time to come up with the words? My stutter almost completely goes away when I started speaking English, but as I got better at it, it came back. Might not be for everyone tho, I guess even our stutters have different causes

@@melanie4659 interesting case. I hope it gets better for you. I had a substitute for my figure drawing in college, this semester a year ago before lockdown, he would stutter during the lectures, some times real hard. I wished he didn't have that, he was such a good teacher with a lot of skills. I had good conversations with him and learned some anatomy from him.

I think watching your videos one after another planted motivation in me subconsciously because I genuinely felt them even If I didnt act immediately and at a point that seed started growing. I wanna thank you man! Even if I don't watch youtube that much lately you're still one of the main reasons I was able to start working out and doing careful changes. Much love man, hope you hit all your goals and more!

I always stuttered since i was a kid, but a couple of years ago going out with my friends everyday/night helped me with it. To the point where i wouldn't stutter in every sentence but did sometimes anyway. A year goes by and covid hits, yes i talked to my family daily but slowly started to stutter again, heavily too. It's been three years since covid hit and i'm again, slowly, talking normally so don't give up. This issue can be solved by doing what you fear to do, and that's stutter in the first place so go for it, hang out with friends, talk, discuss, that's how i got out of it👌

I have had speech problem all my life, what i found was confidence helps a lot. I am 21 and at my first job, it required me to interact with a lot of people which really helped me with my stuttering. Almost to a point where i thought it had gone completely but obviously stuttering has a way of coming back from time to time. From going out of breath literally to pronounce a single word to talking to random strangers face to face without the fear of stuttering, i came a long way. Its back now, but not as bad.

I've often found myself getting words mixed up with slight stuttering and one thing that helps me is like you said take a few seconds to not speak. Part of what also helps me is to think about in my head, what I actually want to say even if slowly, to get it right and clearly project what I want the other person to know. Stuff like that really helps me cool myself when I get anxious and nervous when talking to people.

I have been doing this and it usually works, depending on how bad it gets. I have decent days and bad days. 29 years, I've been stuttering for as long as I can remember. Till the age of 15/16, I couldn't even introduce myself or have a simple chat. Later on, I developed little techniques to make it somewhat easier and you'll have an entire dictionary with backup words in case of failure. Growing up, people often assumed you were just stupid "can't even talk properly". Which wasn't easy but the older I get, the less I care. And that is the best remedy to "overcome" stuttering, stop caring about what other people might think of you.

Had a bad stutter through my teens. Have no stutter now whatsoever. Youre absolutely right, slow yourself down to make sure the words come out right, not fast. Everyone's brain works faster than the voice and words so sometimes it's about training yourself to filter out the rubbish and focus on the main point you're trying to get across.

I remember when I used to stutter and my parents helped me alot to reduce my stuttering. I used tape recorder , had marbles in my mouth and my mom always told me lower and slower.. I even had about 3 speech therapist.. when I was going to a community College , my mom found out I was Dyslexic. That was when I was in my teen years and low 20s. I am now 59 years old and both of my parents passed away 5 years ago. I always remember my Mom's saying of lower and slower whenever I speed up and talk loud . I then caught myself and remember, then I speck better. But it's still hard at times. You're the best! Thank you!😃🏵️

I had a stutter growing up, like my dad. My mom told me if I didn't stop it, she was going to send me to speech therapy. I bought a book of tongue twisters at the book fair. I started with the first one, and learned to speak it loudly, one syllable at a time. By the time I got to the end of the book and could rattle them off 5 times each as fast as I could, I no longer had a stutter.
