There is a youtube channel called Miyconst that does a LOT of x99 knock off board reviews that has a review of this specific board. I believe you have to OC in windows with XTU to get it anywhere because of the power limit being something that windows initializes on these boards.

This doesn't fix the TDP issue, but have you considered under-volting to get a higher clock speed? I didn't see you try Intel extreme tuning utility, that can do things the bios can't a lot of the time. Maybe you could try Throttle-stop? Throttle-stop is usually for under volting laptops, but it's a very deep tool and it does have to ability to modify C-states...
Few people mentioned it but Miyconst has a bunch of videos on these boards, he is the x99 master.
Despite of all its shortcomings, that is a good looking motherboard

Yes! I am far from an expert and have limited OC and BIOS modding knowledge. Especially the later. I was able to Turbo-Unlock the HuananZhi X99TF paired with an E5-2678V3 by modding the BIOS using Miyconst's step by step tutorial and tool-kit. Took me 20 minutes and it worked on the first try. Best damn PC tutorial I have ever had the pleasure of using.

All these X99 boards are indeed hard limited to a max of 140 watts. If you find a way around it, you will likely smoke the motherboard as VRMs/power delivery are not designed to go higher. If you want to go safely higher, you need a new board. But, the results you were getting is excellent nonetheless
Man you got me in the feels when you thought you'd bricked it. I'm sure we have all been there but you could feel the feeling of dread. Also really enjoyed the little cuts in editing in moment to moment between hoping for it to post. Nice one.

I picked up a Chinese x99 board back in March from Aliexpress...believe it was the x99z v102 or something like that. I had a spare E5-2620 v3 that I dropped in, 4 sticks of 8gb ECC ram, and a 512gb NVME m.2. This thing has been absolutely rock solid for 6 months running unraid with a 5 disk array. Even handles GPU passthrough no problem with correct IOMMU groupings. Haven't tried overclocking it at all but for the use case, I honestly don't have a need.

Would be interesting how an undervolt would work on this if the turbo values do work. Would bring the TDP down a bit making higher turbo before hitting limits?
Rambo must love all of the boxes you have.
Fantastic music choises!
New subscriber here. I love, no, im obsessed with xeon builds and Chinese motherboards
Quick question. I am not planning on overclocking at all but would this board be suitable for a E5-2697 or E5-2699 V3?
Are you tried to use HyperTransport Frequency (BCLK Frequency) or something like that (sorry for my bad english)? Because on my motherboard when I add +100mhz by HTF it's totally disable TDP limit on my CPU. Or maybe I'm dummy and the "Core Max OC Ratio" is synonym for the BCLK Frequency
The Macube 550 is the same case I use, I have it in white. Love it! The only thing I did different from your setup for airflow is I have the fans on my rad on the side profile there pull in air from the side vents, and exhaust from the back. Lovely case, my 2700x max has ever hit 72c.

I plan to purchase this board. Have you tried to forward the video card to the virtual machine in a proxmox? I would like to know in advance before buying whether the forwarding works on this board or not.
Jeff, have you tried the Throttle Spot application? just wondering if it will work with these Chinese mb... I haven't tried the app., but I have seen videos of it working on laptops.. lmk.. thanks jd
Do you know what means the code 73? I have the same motherboard and the pc starts and seems run well, but I have this code all the time. Could be something bad?
Have you tried Throttlestop?
Is there a BCLK somewhere in this boards bios? I have a 2680 v4 that I'm trying to squeeze just a little more out of in this board and I'm lost finding the base clock.
I love the way u stack the ram
Looking information about this motherboard, looks good for a containers home server.
Could something like the Elmor eVc help. Not sure if the voltage controller uses i2c but it's with a search. Find the controller, identify it and look up it's data sheet then see if it uses i2c, if it does you can hook up the eVc and adjust whatever you want.
I've had no trouble unlocking the All-Core-Turbo on my 2678 V3 with a Huananzhi X99-TF which is nearly the same as yours. But undervolting is a must to get all cores to run at 3.3 Ghz under load (my sample takes -50 mV just fine). Windows runs mostly fine on the newest releases also with the unmodified C6-entries but I had some trouble installing Linux where it hangs during the installation with these enabled. But I have seen a strange issue with an Intel i350 network card and PCIe errors popping up, it turns out that you need a workaround (pcie=nommconf) because X99 has some trouble with some BIOSes (that is with a Jingsha X99 D8D3 which I bought as an alternative to test - maybe the BIOS of the Hunanazhi boards already have the fix).
Is there a way to change the TDP rate of a CPU? Have you tried throttlestop?

@Lemur Monkey Is it worth it?
Nice video, this reminds me of AMD telling that it wasn't gonna be possible the upgrade for the bios in the b450 motherboards
Where can I get some of that beer?!?
Just a heads up, the all core turbo unlock doesn't help with TDP limits. I'm using an Asrock X99 board and my 2690v3 drops 100MHz when running cinebench to keep to it's TDP limit. But whilst gaming I will still see 3.5Ghz on all 12 cores. I'd suggest you want to look at Throttlestop, Intel XTU or quickCPU to try and remove TDP limits.
I feel like these boards would be a cheap way to get into the x99 chipset. If I remember correctly this chipset also supports Broadwell?
When I start the pc I hear a long beep followed by five short beeps, the pc turns on and the peripherals also do not give a signal, what is my problem?
Have you tried turning it off then on again?
The chapter titles for this video are great candidates for replacing the stages of grief.
Damn i really like that case..😂do they still sell them?
Xenons have stricter TDP limitations than consumer models?
Can you do a cod warzone benchmark on this Board and CPU very interested lol
Got a link to order that fine example of a beer from? When googling it I just end up in a never ending circle of Dio and Killswitch Engage
Please help! How to unlock z10pa d8c. Thanks
In this motherboard the modified bios with turbo unlock works only with 26xx v3 CPUs that is why changing of the CPU to 2680 helped. On thees motherboards the only way to override the TDP limitation is to upload the modified turbo unlock driver with undervolting (only the 26xx CPUs). The changing in bios or using the intell ETU - does not change anything.
Lol, did you try to unlock turbo boost on 16xx processor? It works only for 26xx
Not sure if this helps but I know from my E5 2678 V3 hitting it with heavy avx workloads like cinebench causes the all core turbo to drop due to the tdp limit. If you use CPU z to either bench or stress CPU you can usually see it hit it's max turbo. So in theory using CPU z to validate the overclock with hw monitor might help. Also in games it will hit it's max frequency too I tested using tomb raider. I am not aware of a way to remove the tdp limit which when you run avx heavy workloads limits the max frequency.
This greens cables are beautines in his pure state
Can i install thunderbolt 3 pcie card? Support or not?
ill still buy that board thanks bro
What was the point of deleting the microcode?
The turbo unlock doesn't modify the short and long term turbo duration nor limits. I have a similar board with a 2673v3 and I'm stuck at 85W (I bought a low TDP part on purpose, I just was playing around with it). The BIOS should let you play with the duration, but it fails with the limits. It's a BIOS issue, they are all more or less the same. You could try with Intel XTU, but your mileage may vary.
I had a 1660 V3 ES back in 2015 I tried it on 3 different boards and I could NEVER get it to OC despite everything else. (I still have a x99 sabertooth with me, bios dodgy chip despite buying a new one and flashing over) everything i read said you could but it turns out only non ES can... though I use a 3900X now and i had a e5 2675 v3 after selling the 1660 v3 es
I know that feeling, desperately tapping the bios entry key, praying if you keep tapping it just might work.... And the "woohoo" after clearing cmos....yeah totally been there.
This OC work in e5 2678 v3 ?
Win some...lose some... Nice build Jeff
I have the X99-TF, same board with DDR3 support. I can manage a 1650v3 up to 4.6ghz, but tbe voltage controls get wonky if i go over 1.4v. ThrottleStop can bypass the TDP limit but the limit breaks itself all the time anyway lol. Im running a modded Russian bios from Github that opens up the bios a lot, but a lot of the new options don't work (like the BLK clock options). Custom splash screen tho. Also the RAM voltage is completely borked as far as I can tell, so 1.2v is your lot. Can manage 2400mhz (limit with unlocked chips on these Chinese boards) @12-11-11-24.

For those that want to get into the BIOS flashing game either on Motherboards, Video cards or anything else really. If you are new to the game make sure you purchase a product with a dual bios. That way you can go ham and do anything you can think of and if it bricks swap to your 2nd bios and flash your first bios back to normal and try again! This helped a lot for my 1080ti. Right now I'm using a Inno 3d vbios and I wouldn't of even thought of flashing it if I didn't have a dual bios.
with xtu are possible up the tdp
I felt that anxiety kicking in, when you flashed the bios. Just FYI, you can flash the bios chip with an raspberry pi and clamp/wires directly to the bios chip, if something goes wrong.
Any body knows about ram Speed with this? IDK if could work with DDR4 2400Mhz in case of V3 (v4 has rated that speed on Intel ARK)
I don't think the TDP can be bypassed on the 3rd gen Xeon chips sadly. Even if you enable all-core turbo, once the turboboost times out you are TDP-bound.
