There are even many 2011 boards with H61 or B75 Chipset inside. Linus really should test them out. In South America they should also doing like that, nobody uses i7 on it. Maybe that's the only board who have experienced that high-grade treatment XD.

@@sheik124 I am still getting by just fine with my P9X79 WS, which I originally bought because at the time it was one of Linus's favorite boards, when he was still reviewing mobos; the video is still on here somewhere. After some research I was able to find some custom BIOSs for that board that enabled NVMe boot support, and it worked like a charm. With 7 PCI-E full length slots the expandability is great. Right now I mostly rely on single thread performance so I'm using a 4820k OC'd to 4.5 Ghz but the same socket will accept up to a 12 core Xeon. Before I went with the BIOS flash I just used an M.2 SATA drive which has the same overall speeds but far better IOPS, so that's an option. The problem is the GOOD X79 boards and CPUs are not actually cheap (if you want the extreme editions or the high core count Xeons they are as much as a modern CPU), and you are really better off buying new. I spent $300 on my P9X79 and that was only a few years ago, only because I couldn't afford a complete upgrade for a workstation board. Was the day I realized just how important not skimping on your mobo is if you're a serious power user. So I wouldn't really suggest this for someone building a new rig, but X79 is still a super powerful platform for the right uses and just because it's nearly 10 year old hardware doesn't mean it still can't pack some serious power. They make absolutely fantastic server platforms too, great way to re-use your old hardware.

Dear Linus, Here's Kenny again, you're always my favorite TECH channel, but the truth is you really need to study more about Chinese TECH culture and products, Just like last time I replied on the onda h310 Mb about intel lied. I'm working with these motherboard almost every day to make budget build for my costumers in HK, I know almost everything about them First of all, it's not anything new to see m.2 NVMe support on old CPU and motherboard, actually since sandy bridge, every single CPU that has direct access between PCIe lanes and CPU, a very little BIOS modification can make perfect support on NVMe, especially x79/ x99, these CPUs had 40+ PCIe lanes directly from the CPU, they can even support NVMe raid0, I'll talk about this later. Second, In China, these x79 / x58 motherboard are even more common then mainstream MB and CPU, you're paying a very very extreme price for these MB due to the area you're in, the very best china x79 motherboard in HK and China just cost less than $70 USD, they have perfect support on NVMe/ quad channel 1866 ddr3 (ecc reg available for XEON CPUs) / overclocking ability on unlocked CPUs (e.g 3930k/4960x/e5 1650v2/e5 1680v2....) Third, these are meant to use with e5 XEONs and ecc reg RAM to make budget gaming builds, instead of i7s. PC builder like me in HK and China can build a high quality 4k gaming rig with these MB within $800usd, e.g E5 1680v2 overclocked MB like this one 8gx4 ecc reg 1866 ddr3 Vega64 / GTX 1080 NVMe ssd And all other HW for a rig...... Finally back to the NVMe support, you're the greatest LINUS, you should know how a PCIe m.2 ssd works, it has almost nothing to do with the motherboard if you have direct PCIe lanes to your CPU, architecture like a x79 CPU has all the PCIe lanes you'll ever need, these manufacturer just pre-moded their BIOS to made it done, that's nothing really to be Surprised about, you're already very lucky to work with this model, it built with a real x79 chipset, most of the Chinese "x79" MB are built with modified sandy bridge/ ivy bridge chipset (e.g h61/b75/q67/c202...Etc), these Mb can't support overclocking and some of them will stuck with 1600mhz ddr3 although you have a e5 v2 CPU, you really should work a little harder to dig more into these Chinese TECH, there are much more for you to be amazed, I'll leave a little rabbit hole here to let you guys to dig into, let's just say, PC builder like me can build an 8 core 16 threads higher frequency gaming rig with these MB and e5 CPUs that can play PUBG over 100 fps high settings 1080p within the budget $300usd... You're always my best inspiration, I'll always love you all, thanks LINUS and all those made LTT the greatest TECH channel ever!

Laptops and all-in-one PCs would be a good example of what could make them popular. All you have to do to make them popular is to give the list of components which would be around as powerful as the thing you're trying to sell, as well as how much money people would save by buying the already-built product from you than buying all the parts themselves.

The nice thing about these HuananZhi X79 deluxe motherboards is that the NVME m.2 will support boot. Mine is paired with an E5-4627V2 (8C/8T), which runs stable and cool at 3.5Ghz all core (CB R15 = 865). Just be sure to put a small fan blowing onto the VRM heatsink; I use an 80mm fan for this purpose. Seems these boards have a reputation for failing without such fan cooling measures. Also, I would avoid high overclocking, hence my preference for the E5-4627V2. If you are into OC, and prefer E5-1650/1650V2, 1660/1660V2, 1680V2...best to go with a name brand like ASUS, ASROCK, etc. IMO. Also, you need to go to CPU Power Management to set all core multipliers manually, to get an OC. No manual voltage control settings in this BIOS. I actually got an even better deal for my main rig, an ASUS P9X79Pro for twenty dollars (came mint and with original box and accessories) coupled with an E5-1650V2 for $62. Both were acquired in local purchases...you would be very unlikely to get such a deal on eBay or AliE. I run this stable and cool on air at 4.4Ghz (CBR15 = 1130).

@@starcitizen890j5 I thought he was pretty positive in his "review" of that monitor? If anything it's the monitor itself that's lacking, Linus clearly loved it.

0:20 Those gpus have the same shrouds of all those "chinese" knockoff that you can find on ebay that say that they are like "gtx 1050" when in reality they're just gts450/gtx 550 with modded bios on them.

Its actually super easy to enable nvme booting on any AMI bios motherboard, simple insert the proper module into the bios and install. Did it with my computer running a supermicro x9dri-ln4f+ and it works great, so I can see it being easy enough for a company as well.
