Appreciate choosing outfits that fit our lifestyle-too often we concentrate on "fancy" outfits we wear rarely and don't focus on what makes us our best every day.

Thank you for mentioning a slip! 💃👗 It's appalling to see every detail of a woman's silhouette through a dress. I think the older we get, the worse it is to see. And I've heard women say they don't think they need to wear a slip because something isn't see-through, but the slip helps the fabric of a skirt drape nicely even if it isn't see-through, especially if you're wearing tights in the colder months.

Dear Kay, you are so sweet and confident! I just wanted you to know that your advice has obviously rubbed off on me when I dressed the other morning for surgery in matching cream bra-cami and golf joggers, with pink slides, flowy sweater, sunglasses and lip gloss. No makeup or jewelry allowed, yikes. I got compliments and when walking out my nurse said I didn’t look like a patient! It made me feel better (and I am feeling better) in less than the best circumstances, and I wanted to thank you for that.

This is a great roundup of your best tips, Kay! I laughed at your comment about wearing a slip. A few days ago, I went to Kohl's to look for a half slip to wear under a new maxi skirt that's a little sheer. I walked up to two saleswomen and said, "I'm looking for a half slip." The younger of the two - maybe in her 30s - looked at the older woman and said, "I don't know what that is." 😄

I had the exact same thing happen when I went to Kohl's and asked where I could find pantyhose. The girl really didn't even know what they were!!! And, for the record, Kohl's doesn't sell pantyhose at all...at least in the store. They had NONE.

Similar story: I went into Nordstrom’s on the hunt for a slip. The youngish sales lady didn’t really understand what I meant, and kept steering me towards shapewear. After searching in vain all over town (and I live in a large urban area), I finally bought some fabric and made my own. Two lengths: one for my shorter summer skirts and dresses, and one for my knee- or mid-knee length skirts and dresses.

This is so funny! I wonder what the young sales girls would say if you asked for a "full-slip"! (Not that *anyone* wears those anymore, although I remember my mom putting one on before every fancy party she went to! 🥰 Aren't those the great memories of girlhood, watching one's mom get dressed for a "fancy event"? 😍) These days, a salesperson would think "full-slip" meant either you'd slipped and were gonna sue the store, or you wanted to check out and get a "full receipt"! 😂🤩

I echo so many of the positive comments others have said, but wanted to add something about creating a uniform. When I worked for a large corporation, my uniform was a suit - either skirt or pants - with a dressy blouse and sometimes a scarf. And always nice shoes. When I first retired, I found myself trending to very casual outfits for errands and informal activities- usually jeans and tees - but never feeling my best. When I found your blog and You tube Channel, I recognized that I needed to put together a new uniform that I felt good in and reflected my current lifestyle. Also, I’d filled my closet with fun pieces for nicer occasions but much of it didn’t work together. I also decided I needed to elevate my casual uniform so it reflected my best self. I’ve recently bought a few completer pieces, some nicer graphic tees and modern jeans. I tossed the tired and uncomfortable shoes. Last week, I put together some outfits and took photos of them so I don’t have to panic when I want to put together an outfit in limited time. I have more to do, but I’m laying the foundation, and want to thank you for your gracious and hopeful tips and messages. I agree with the others who said the outfit you’re wearing is lovely! ❤️

Thanks for the book's worth of advice, Kay! After decades of wearing blazers (including all of my years in corporate) I now stick to unlined and featherweight models. I still love the crisp details and the smart look, but I prefer to have the item that is under the blazer snug and the blazer less fitted, even when buttoned. It's so nice to have options for every body and taste! I feel like a dinosaur when I try to describe a half slip or when I am handed a striped dress when I ask for a lined one.

The concept of contrast intensity was new to me. I do have darker hair, fair skin, medium (hazel) eyes so contrast is all over however im often complimented when i wear dark pants and a light top. I guess it's good contrast. I've had several style uniforms for years, it took my daughter telling me years ago that I look great using my typical solid look with 1 thing that makes a statement. I didnt realize until then that it was one of my style uniforms. I use that knowledge now to quickly put together an outfit. Thanks for the great tips.

Great tips, Kay! I was planning to wear a straight black and white skirt that I haven't worn since before Covid, and was thinking "Now I wonder where that slip is I used to wear with this?" When I pulled out the skirt on the hanger I realized that I had hung the black half slip INSIDE the skirt! Very practical! Didn't have to go searching through all my drawers.

There is just something so elegant and timeless about wearing white and taupe outfits, I love this combination. Or any beige, I just prefer taupe because it’s a little cooler to coordinate with my cool coloring. A warmer, more camel-beige, like this year’s “Caramel” color might suit others better, both are so classic. I just got a taupe sweater trimmed with white from the White Company, which I love.

This has to be my favorite video in your collection. Excellent advice and great, wearable outfits. My favorite tip was choosing an outfit based on your own skin tone, hair and eye color. My coloring is similar to yours, and I do look better in neutrals, especially whites and cream colors. Without a doubt, the white pant + blazer looked fabulous on you. Thanks again for a stellar video! ❤🙋‍♀️

Your hair looks great! The style is uplifting and flattering. Regarding proportions, I've always believed pants should come down to your ankle and shoes should match pants or be neutral. That makes for the longest, most elegant legs. While I have heard many times about wearing shorter hems to show some skin at the ankle, I disagree. To me, it always looks choppy. I'm happy to stay in the minority with my long legs!

Another great video. You have inspired me to “show up,” be true to our style, but mindful of our body shapes & our activities. Because of my Neurological imitations, have to wear loose fitting clothing. I am petite, slim and used to wearing fitted outfits to lunch with friends, & at Bible Study Fellowship. I like to complete my look with lipstick. Thank you, Kay!

You’re gorgeous. That info about contrast is so important. I went from the Snow White look with really dark hair and really light skin with blue eyes to white hair. I did t realize I was now low contrast so my high contrast clothes wouldn’t work anymore.

I am going to be working on putting together some outfits. Having something down pat that I can easily and quickly put on and feel put together would be great! I am not sure what my style uniform is so I guess I need to start with that. I actually like the look of blazers but as I have a few in my closet that don’t get worn, I have discovered I don’t reach for them. I am a cardigan and sweatshirt person. Although windbreakers and anorak coats are handy this time of year. I love all your inspirations. I think you look put together. Thanks for all your tips!
