OVEN BAKED TURKEY TO PERFECTION | FULL RECIPE & INSTRUCTIONS

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This video will show you how to bake a turkey in a turkey roaster. You will also learn how to use an internal thermometer for cooking a turkey.
I love a roasted turkey that looks great but sometimes the best turkey meat comes from a oven baking that leaves the meat juicy and tender.
Cooking in a covered turkey roaster and using internal thermometers will give you the best results.
And if you leave the top off of the roaster for 30-45 minutes, you will get a nice skin that you'll love to eat.
OVEN BAKED TURKEY IN TURKEY ROASTER
INGREDIENTS
12-15 pound turkey
1 - 16 ounce container Butter Garlic injection
2 Ribs celery
1 small to medium yellow onion
8 Toes garlic whole
Olive Oil
Rosemary Garlic blend
Poultry Seasoning
Paprika
Step 1. Thaw Turkey
Allow at least 24 hours for every 4 pounds. Example: a 15 pound bird will take 3.75 days to thaw. I’d suggest leaving it for 4 days.
Step 2. Preparation
Remove packaging. Remove the giblets and the neck from the two body cavities.
Wash and dry the bird by running cold water over and inside the turkey cavity.
Dry turkey inside and out with paper towels. Do Not Leave Any Paper Towels Inside The Turkey!
Step 3. Injecting
Use a butter garlic recipe found in most groceries this time of year.
Inject all parts of the turkey the night before cooking. Place turkey in a roasting pan and put it back in the refrigerator covered.
Step 4. The next day, preheat oven to 325°F.
Season inside of turkey with rosemary garlic blend seasoning.
Stuff the turkey with onions, celery and garlic. Make it simple. What you put in is what your gravy will taste like.
Pat turkey dry with paper towels. Coat the exterior “skin” of the turkey with olive oil.
Sprinkle on poultry seasoning and paprika. Remember, paprika will give you a golden skin color so try not to miss any part of the turkey.
Step 5.
Insert the internal thermometers. If you have just one, insert it into the thigh.
If you have two internal thermometers, insert one into the breast and thigh.
It’s time to put the turkey in the oven with the roasting pan lid on.
When turkey thigh temperature reaches 174°F, remove the lid of the roaster, slide the turkey back in to allow the turkey skin to brown. Continue to bake turkey until the thigh temperature reaches at least 180°F. It’s ok to go over a few degrees.
The breast temperature will go over 170°F to approximately 174°F in order to get the thigh temperature to 180°F. The breast meat will still be moist.
MEAT THERMOMETER INSTRUCTIONS
I highly recommend getting one or two internal meat thermometers.
Then follow these directions as scene on the Butter Ball insert that came with the turkey.
Here’s what it says:
Quote: An oven safe thermometer can be inserted into the thigh before cooking.
The thermometer should be placed into the thick part of the thigh without touching the bone.
Remove turkey when that thermometer reaches 180°F.
The breast should reach 170°F and if the turkey is stuffed, the center of the bird should be 165°F. Unquote
Chef’s Notes:
You certainly can bake a turkey without the internal thermometers however, I recommend using them so you can be assured that the turkey is cooked properly and it will be tender, juicy and not over cooked and dry.
I also recommend making turkey gravy ahead if you need plenty turkey gravy.

We call it Mirliton as well. In south Louisiana they go on sale for 10 cents each for a week or so.
