Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

The cold snuck on me and now its time to take down the summer tub, shocked at what I found when I got everything removed.

    Those ones that are super skinny, I'd keep an eye on. It could be a parasite or illness. In general if I'm feeding my normal schedule and I have guppies looking like that I treat the tank and cull the worst ones. Something to keep an eye on. Make sure to sterilize the net that you used in the outdoor tub and/or only use it for the 55. Throw a round of QT meds in the tank too, since they've been outside and been eating bugs coming from who knows where.

    Could you leave them out all winter? Saw a lady post a video and hers survived 40 below in Canada with 2 aquarium heaters and som blankets and plastic covering it. I’m from Fort Worth and want to try something in my pond without having to move everything indoors.

    Really depends on what you have in it. Doubt guppies would make it

    I'm guessing they're surviving the temperature highs & lows is because it's fluctuating; they're not consistent. Indoor you'd have it set to consistant misery, compared to a bad day or a rough night in the pond.

    Why is indoor temperature constant misery?

  • @deadfred821

    @deadfred821

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@VinylUnboxings consistent… but constant would be the same. He’s saying the shrimp should not have survived. I’m saying that out in nature those highs & lows are not consistent. A temperature controlled room would stay at 50 degrees or at 90 degrees. Therefore “consistent.” As opposed to frosty temperatures in the morning, warming up at sun up, boiling at noon & cooling off at twilight. Nature would not deliver the same consistent misery; it balances. We humans thrive on consistency. So if the temperature is not adequate for the shrimp, they’d be in a state of misery & it would be consistent.

    @@deadfred821 Sure, _if_ the indoor temperature wasn't adequate for shrimp and it was consistent it would be constant misery. That's why you'd avoid setting it at a miserable temperature. Neocaridinia shrimp are actually known to be extremely adaptable to different consistent parameters, but struggle with fluctuations. So in other words, for this particular species, they prefer consistency as long as you don't set it to some ridiculous temperature

    Love untubbing vids! I don’t ever seem to have any success with mine. I tried guppies last year and rice fish this year. No fry either time.🤨. I would give those guppies a dose or two of lavamisole. Bird poop brings in worms and that might be why they are skinny. Cheers, Chris

    that's why I don't do shrimp cause they are prolific at producing, for the guppies in a outside pond I would have stuck a heater in it that would have done them good instead of taking them out.
