I am so glad you think so. I feel like I don't have a lot of time to get it across to you before one skips out on watching the video! LOL!
Omg this guy at my rink would always say, "if you're going to fall, make it look good or purposeful." He would tell me alright do 3 good pushups when I fall. Now I'm able to do break dance moves before I even touch the ground. It's pretty fun. No matter how advanced I become these basic videos are great reminders to work on the basics of falling and such. Thank you for your videos, now if only I can get my friends to watch. 😂

Haha, I try to do that too. I once slipped at a roller disco (there was beer on the floor) and I just put my arms up and went 'ta-daaa! I totally meant to do that!' and went along my merry way. :'D

That audio quality 👏🏾👏🏾
I would love it if you could make a video of all the things that beginners should be practicing regularly. The real basic stuff. Sort of like an exercise strengthening practicing video. Like 30-45 minutes 😊

Glorya Grah...I know, I thought the same thing. Lots of practice makes it look easy. She has definitely put in the work so she can back what she says. I am learning so much from her videos! ~MYSTIC RS~ MY MYSTICAL CHANNEL
The first time I fell during a long distance street skate i dropped to a knee after hitting a rock, and went for a good 5 ft. It was honestly a fun time! Some guys doing roof work applauded 😂 Happy falling friends!
Whenever I fall in front of people, I now make a pose like I was supposed to do it! Makes my daughter laugh every time and keeps me looking "cool" lol!! I LOVE your skates in this video!

I always think that downvotes legitimize the upvotes :) Someone out there is just not going to get it to the point where they really don't like it and that is ok. As long as I am having a positive effect on skaters like you, I am happy to keep producing these videos. So thank you so much for your support. I appreciate it greatly.
Best part about this..."When you fall...you're going to start questioning your life choices!" yup....hit that right on the head!
I want to thank you for these roller skating tutorials. Every time I’m skating, I hear your voice... “down with the butt, up with the gut!” 😂 Or when I have fallen.. “UP! UP! UP!” Thank you for being inside my head while skating! You give me strength and confidence! 🥰 I have learned so much through you! 💕
Dirty Deb to the rescue again! I've been so afraid of going outside and have watched so many videos about how to fall but none have really clicked for me until this one. Your skating videos are always the most helpful I can find on KZread, no matter what the topic. Thanks Deb, you're a superstar! ✨😃
This helps a lot! I started skating today and my main problem is that I could not let go because I was afraid of falling or being unable to stop. Next day I'll practice stopping, falling and getting up 😌
Loving you rocking your gear I see a large number of new skaters appearing online with no helmet or no gear at all
Thank you for showing the correct way to slide on knee pads. I spent well over 25 yrs skateboarding on ramps and sliding was one of the first things I learned about saving your knees during a fall.
Great tips, as always, Dirty! A big Scottish 🏴 “yes Ma’am!” is being projected across the Atlantic! BTW, you look dead cute with that hat, pigtails and shades on😎. Does anyone else agree? (I bet your hubby agrees! 😉)
When i fall, laughter helps me get over it, and it instantly relieves those strangers who were concerned. The people who were holding back giggles get relief also because they know it's OK to bust out laughing too.
I’m practicing in my street every day. My little sister is always “did you do what dirty Debby said?” Thanks for making this detailed videos!

That's awesome! So excited for you!
The part where you talked about how you feel after the fall... so real!! Lol I just took my first tough fall down a hill. The onlookers gasped... it was hilarious... However, I felt like a stunt double!! I fell and used my squishy bits and protective gear. I didn’t really hurt myself which was GREAT. I felt so awesome that I recovered like I did and went right back to that hill. I didn’t want it to discourage me. I had fun and didn’t hurt myself. That’s all that matters 💗 thanks dirty!
Thank you Dirty Deborah!! I am 41yrs old & getting back to skating after 32yrs! I fell down for the 1st time today, not as graceful as you (an almost full split actually LOL!) but thank God for your video, I was able to get up with no issues!! Truly appreciate it!

This made laugh 😂😂😂 a split. I always have that fear of falling
Thank you for this. I haven't been on wheels since I was 17. Twenty years and 60lbs later I thought it was a good idea to get back on them 😂 I plan on starting outside on a paved trail so this will be a video I watch often.
I couldn't love your videos anymore. Thank you Deb. Every word, action, lesson, realness, laughter, its great.
“If I spent every time I thought I was gonna fall, falling directly on both knees, I wouldn’t have any knees.” Hahahhahahahah!! I’m gonna publish a book of all your quotes one day.
You make the getting up part look so easy, so I tried it. My thighs!!!!! Lunges are now part of my life to improve this skill.
@Dirtydeborahharry
4 жыл бұрын
I swear to you. Just do this motion 5 times, every single time you skate. You will get better at it without killing your thigh muscles.
This is awesome!!! Especially the tip of rolling back and using your front trucks and toe stop!! I wasn’t even doing that right!! 😆😆😻😻💖💖💖
You literally describe every fear I have when I’m on my skates. Thank you Dirty, for acknowledging this and slowing the steps down for us 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I've been skating for literally three days and your videos have been such a help! You are a fantastic teacher
OMG, I love your voice!!!☺😍😍
I have my weekend homework assignment!
“I wouldn’t have any knees “ 😂
Oh, I can't wait to try to knee slide! 🤙thank you💓
Oh my gosh, Dirty! That was so helpful! I'm so, so, so afraid of falling outside on rough asphalt!!! I have broken my tailbone three times (not while having wheels on my feet though) - I don't wanna do that again, I can tell you! Now I have got padded pants, kneepads, elbow pads and wrist guards. I honestly feel like the Michelin man! lol. I don't own a helmet though... I should get one... But I have not been on my quads outside yet... It's cold here. Frosty nights still... My Landrollers (big angular set wheels) have been out on the hard packed dirt road... Did not roll very smoothly. Soon I will sneak outside with my quads, find a quiet place - with not too much sand and gravel from the winter, and roll!!! Love and light from Norway!

Love your videos Dirty! They have given me such confidence with my skating. I broke my fibula and dislocated my ankle last year 5 weeks into derby freshmeat bootcamp. I kept going to practice cause I knew skating was my jam. Fast forward to this year, I'm finally back on skates and loving every outdoor skate I've been on. Falling, actually getting up, is my biggest fear cause that's how I broke but I just love skating so much so I keep going and practice practice practice.

Oh I am so happy to read that you have made a comeback. Good luck to you skater!
I can not say enough how much your videos, energy and love for skating has done for me 😍😍😍😍
So cool. I landed in the grass and just got up immediately my neighbors were laughing. 😂😂😂😍😍😍😍.
I just bought my first pair of skates since I was in middle school. So I'm a little terrified, but if I ever wanna be a derby girl...I'm gonna have to fall a little.
I’m in Australia and learning so much from these videos. Thank you so much
Love this vid! My biggest fear is falling and I know that lately it's been keeping me from advancing on my skating! Feel like I'm actually regressing and I hate that! So today imma gonna practice takin a knee and mastering some push-ups with the deeper falls! 🤣 Thanks Deb! Another beauty and helpful vid!!!! 😎
Thanks! I’ll add this to tomorrow’s practice. I really need to chip away at my fear of falling.
Every time I fall I end up laughing at myself because I think it probably looks silly for others watching and why not make them laugh too. Falling is a part of the skating journey and it’s sometimes just as fun as being upright on wheels :)
i love this. i dont skate because i’m afraid of falling i didn’t even think of that but i do know i cant get up ...i got all my gear and got some good skates but have not went in public i skate in my back yard and i’m getting bored and tired of that little patch of concrete because i feel like i’m not learning anything BUT now i’m going to practice falling and getting up and i know this will help me venture out to the front!!! yea i got stuck|scared...and stopped skating at all. i’m glad i saw this confident booster....encouraging...
Great !!! Mindful and loving mindset is all we need for everything. No more fear, crying and feeling like a victim. It is much better to have the trustful mindset "I learn each moment... I skate excellent.... I am safe ... I am not hurt... I get up up up easy... I feel soooo free and happy while skating.... my body, mind and soul get more and more healthy.... I am the best version of a rollerskater...I enjoy moving and breathing in nature..."

You have officially gave me the confidence to buy skates and not be scared to fall and get up I’m so grateful 🥰
Thank you will be practicing this.... seeing I am terrified of falling....
Damn! I needed to watch this BEFORe fracturing my tibia two days ago, lol. Watching from my hospital bed so I know what to do next time. x

Practice falling and getting up, love it! Perfect skill to learn 🌺
Lol "hmm my butt hurts", totally related about figuring out what damage you did long after the fall
I love all of your videos but this one in particular gave me great joy. Im 54 and this isn’t the easiest age to start skating. But I’m trying! And I’m falling. However, I’m looking forward to the next time I fall. I will definitely be doing a few swimming leg kicks and push-ups and maybe even a laying on my side in a beachy pose…cuz I meant to do it. 😅 I sure do appreciate you Dirty!
"There aren't a lot of times when you're walking around and all of sudden fall down..." Actually, those of us who live in a winter environment often find ourselves suddenly weightless and crashing onto the hidden ice upon which we have just slipped. Ironically, I think this prepares northers skaters for such things as loss of balance, lowering one's body when tripping, shifting body weight, going down hill etc.
First off you are flippin hilarious and we love you!!! Thanks for moving it outside!
This was great, never thought to practice falling but I certainly will. You are so funny love these videos. I got over being embarrassed when I fall a long time ago. I fell once on my bike at the corner by the bus stop, not sure what happened, I slowed down and just fell over like Tim Conway did on that tricycle. Didn't think anyone beside the bus full of people saw it but over the next couple weeks it seemed like everyone I ran into said laughing they saw me, like seriously was the whole friggin town at that corner that day? But hey, I brought joy to many people. Have wiped out in my driveway on my rollerskates, again brought joy to my neighbors. Decided spreading joy is not a bad thing.
You are the BEST teacher!!! You give us the inner voice we need that we would get directly from a teacher in person. I love that. You’re amazing ❤️❤️❤️

“UP, UP, UP!” Definitely going to use that every time I fall now
I totally fell cause of a small rock, tried to get up like you shown without the push no luck, I just fell again. I ended up taking my skates off. I am gonna try it with the push. Thanks DDH✌
Hahaha ‘questioning your life choices’. My skates haven’t even arrived in the mail yet and I’m having a blast watching these and practicing on my feet. Thanks for the tips! And for showing us how it’s done with such flair!
Perfect video and perfect timing! I just got my S1 pads and they're fantastic. I'm gonna go out and practice falling!
I love love love these videos, who knew you even need skills to fall the right way 😂😂😂😂😂
I have never heard anyone say you should slide when you fall but it makes sense. To be honest, I have been skating with assistance in small areas so I will need to re-introduce myself to long distance skating when we are able to get out without the fear of being fined or questioned by the police. I worry about my fitness and I think that is a big safety issue for falling.
I was skating my first trail a few weeks and going faster than I had ever been, having such a great time that I completely forgot to stagger my feet over cracks and I FLEW forward a few feet into the air and scraped my chin! My first instinct was to cry, and a few tears did come out, but I got up, laughed, and skated all the way back again! I felt so proud that I got up and kept going... and to have my first visible injury lol
I’ve needed this❤️
I greatly appreciate the help and confidence you’ve given my skating 😭💙 you’re the best... thank you!!!
Dude, I was skating on a bike path the other day for the first time and I was so nervous and shaky, worried that I'd fall in front of people or that they were thinking I was annoying and slow. But it's seriously your voice that pops into my head that keeps me trying when I feel discouraged. You're the best! Up up up!
