Thank you for making it so clear that skating for 20 minutes is good! I kept getting discouraged because I got so tired after a half hour and I would put off going! Very motivating.

I'm 70. I skate every day. Sometimes in my kitchen. I might just practice balancing on the carpet. So fun to skate with friends inside and out. You are the best! Thank you so much. I watch you very often! You are a great teacher ❤

Will add happy feet, happy feet, not gonna die to my in-head repertoire of chin up, hips down, snack area nice and tight. As a single mom I’ve taken any 5 or 10 minutes I can to practice, today in our kitchen waiting for dinner. 5th time on skates and today I managed to plow stop! I do find indoors a bit scarier than outdoors though. Less corners and toys outside 😂

@@elizabethsloan3902 it's just an opinion I guess.. here's mine: I'm total beginner to roller skate and just got my skate 17/7/2021. I watched about 3 youtube 'teachers' on KZread including Dirty and another 2 on instagram. But I learned the most from Dirty's videos and keep coming back for the beginner's lessons. The others I watched just to get some other styles/perspectives but I prefer Dirty's way of teaching the most. To each their own 😊

i just love u and your energy Dirty Deb. That shit is so intoxicating. I feel like you would have been every girl's best friend. I love the power I can feel you sending through to us skaters. Thank you! Oh and also I CANNOT get over the camera work here. It is so perfect and flows so well. The person behind the camera has so much spacial awareness and comfort on their skates, you can just tell. and it makes for one amazing shot. Thanks for that too.

I love you! 48 yr old here and I havent skated since my teen years. I just bought a pair of chaya skates and put them on and tried to skate on my wood floors. Omg. Bambi legs. Tried to go in my driveway aww man. Its like my legs wouldnt push forward. I am not giving up though! 20 min a day starting tommorow. I can do this.

i’ve known the basics of skating since i was old enough to walk, and so i’ve been good at simple skating for ages and always absolutely loved it, but until recently i’d never really considered it as a proper hobby outside of a fun trip to a roller rink a few times a year. last week i found my old skates that i never really used and when i got them on i barely took them off for the next 5 days. i’m having so much fun and i’m genuinely so pleased that i’m actually good at something for once! i’m really inspired to get better and i’m so grateful for your channel because i’ve learnt so much so fast! i’ve had a really hard time during the coronavirus recently and this has completely lifted my mood, and i’ve learnt everything from you. i really see this being something that i continue with for quite a while. thank you so much for being such a good teacher, i appreciate the videos so much. sending lots of love from scotland

Me too I just skates I really wanna get good at skating because skating is really fun it’s like ice skating which was one of the reasons why I wanted roller skates because I love ice skating but it’s so hard trying to skate outside

You're an exceptionally good instructor; authentically didactic. No one else, that I've watched on KZread, has broken down outdoor skating in this way. 👍🏽👍🏽

Living in NY, its dayum hard finding an isolated spot😩my local basketball court has been serving me well. Just gotta be alert to the kiddies now that schools are Covid-poned!!!

This made me feel better. as soon as I got on the road I stiffened up and could barely move. My heart was racing too... when I would get to a tennis court it was much better. I need to find a closer flat lot!

Thank you so much for this video! I’ve been getting over my crippling fear of outdoor skating this week using your videos and feeling *so* proud of myself! My biggest problem was not being able to stop confidently, and I’ve been so nervous and unstable trying t-stops, so I was super happy to hear you say that they’re not the best for outdoors. Going to work instead on getting a super solid snowplough stop. Love your teaching style :)

Thank you so much!! This just happened to me. I just got my new skates and haven't skated since I was a kid. I chose a long smooth paved trail and I was so nervous. There was gravel, the slightest downhill, people passing me and I was trying to figure out how to stop and not panic. I went home feeling pretty low. I could skate as a kid outside no problem but now... I lost my confidence. Oh Lord! I just needed to go to a parking lot.

Learned to roller skate (very basic) when I was 9 or 10 but being in Canada mostly ice skate. At 53 I want to be confident roller skating so I can roller skate with my dogs around the block to give them a run instead of a walk. I love your videos and hope I can learn to be fearless - it will be a while before I attempt to skate with the dogs, but hope to be able to do so after a few weeks. Just got my roller skates yesterday! We don't have any roller rinks around so outdoors is it!

This is amazing and I am so jealous of that lovely parking lot 😍 I’ve added “smile” to my hips down/snack area tight/shoulders back/chin up mantra when I’m up on my skates. Really helps get rid of the “oh fuck what am I doing?” by tricking your brain into happy mode. 💖

Love your videos. I haven’t skated for years since our only skating rink closed. Sick of looking at my skates and wishing so I have decided to try outdoors. Love your tips about skating outdoor. I was worried about debris but lots of car park practice first. I’m an older skater but now planning to go to a car park on Saturday. I didn’t realize you had an outdoor skating series until today. I was starting to get discouraged because I’m a beginner and typically can only practice outside. I kept only seeing your indoor videos and was having issues with things like debris and stopping quickly so as not to die and I finally found the treasure trove of videos that address my needs as a skater. Thank you so much for these videos! I picked up a pair of skates without really thinking much and started like I was trying to just ice skate and that DID NOT work! I fell and really ate it, skinned my knee, the whole nine yards of feeling like a failure - and then I found your channel! Fast forward just one week and I'm falling less (and falling safely when I do!), I'm learning how the weight shifts feel, and I have the confidence to go out where there are other people skating too! It feels so good to be getting good at something, and you're so right about the skate community

Lovely video once again. I come to this channel for both the videos and the comments, I love reading everyone's skating questions and stories here. This month I've had skates on every day, I'm so proud and I've made big steps towards being a decent skater! I've been skating in my bedroom since it's been so rainy lately but today the sun is out and so am I!

This is sooo encouraging! I recently got my first pair of skates and was really freaked that the bolted toe stop was so high, I thought I'd never learn to stop. But after watching you it turns out plow stops are better for outdoors anyway so 🥳🥳🥳
