that it is 1 order is not the problem. The problem is when the shipper or broker understates the payload weight when they tender the load on the loadboard. If it would be accurate you would obviously know or have a really good idea ( based on you knowing the rough empty weight or your truck and trailer) of if you can haul the load with legal weigh limits, which you agree to by accepting the load.

It's up to you.. In my State we can purchase a 3000 lb overweight permit pretty cheaply. I picked up a 3 drop pool table load late on a Friday night.. they shut the gate to the plant behind me when I left. When I scaled I was over 2600 lbs on the rears (they'd stuck a big box of slate on the tail for Drop 1).. 1st drop was 800 mi away in Denver for Monday. Plant behind me was closed, Permit office was closed ... I wasn't waiting for the plant to open back up on Monday and my Company was Never the type to overload me. 2600 lbs represented about a 6 percent difference between legal weight and overloaded on the Tail tandems.. and since the State would sell me an overload/permit I knew I wasn't tearing up anyone's highway. I broke out my Atlas and picked a non scale route to Denver and since I only had 400 mi to travel each day it was pretty easy running. I solved a problem.. I didn't destroy property.. and I was DOT weight legal for 2/3rd's of my trip. I ran 2-3 loads/week at that Company .. so 100- 140 loads a year .. of those maybe 1-3 would have weight issues. Maybe 1 percent of my loads.. I hope you don't expect life to be perfect .. it never is. Just a word of perspective .. when you run 56 mph in a 55 mph zone .. you are "breaking regulations".. Pump the brakes on getting huffy about engaging in activity that doesn't harm persons or property.. and solves problems.
Big respect for you brother. I'm retired, and I am pretty sure that I would have lost my mind and went off. You are one cool driver and I applaud you for the way you handled your situation. God bless you and please stay safe out there....
That place is an absolute hot mess. And I love the way the second lady said "we ship 46+ all the time, I"ll show you" but never came back with a 46K BOL.
Justin, forty five years ago the driver was talked to by the forklift driver and they would want to know the overall weight and how I wanted it loaded. Back then the forklift drivers knew their product and the best way to load most trailers. Sadly today many forklift drivers don't even know what their pallets weight or how to arrange the load for a trailer.

1st thing I did when I got into a new to me truck is I'd fill both tanks and weigh it and gave myself #1,000. for grace. Then I'd run it low on fuel and get another weigh. So I knew exactly what I could haul.
8:42 typical thing all brokers & shippers say: "WE DO IT ALL THE TIME!" Goddammit!
Been doing this 30 years, I can totally relate …been there , done that. In everything from a 99 w900 to my last truck a 13 cascadia. Now, I would agree that anything over 44500…I’ll sweat out total weight but , to my surprise, my 13 cascadia 125 midroof with a 2000 dry wabash, I could haul 46,600 before I had to worry about fuel levels. Just an fyi….that load weight is not unusual in these newer trucks but regardless…I don’t want over 44500 unless it’s absolutely necessary (or pays my company well enough for the extra fuel cost and headaches..lol)

The curse of the 53 foot trailer! Loaders routinely plan poorly and wind up putting too much weight on the rear. Here in Cali when I was driving, the smart operators would paint a line or post a sign saying "Load as 48' Trailer" or "Don't Load Past this Line" to keep the weight distributed. But 83,000 is 83,000! I picked up a Campbell Soup load that weighed heavy once. Went back to shipping office to tell them and they said I was crazy! Turns out trailer was loaded by 2 different shifts and they loaded not 1 but 2 pallets too much. I'm sure glad they apologized for their mistake! (Oh, wait, they didn't😵).

Greeeeeeeedy shipping companies! Stuff as much as we can on trucks and hope the drivers don't notice! I've been running reefer for years, and I can't count the number of times I've run into this same issue. But they always cut the load, because frankly, they have to. Love the music you had playing during your drone time. That would truly be some good cruising music.

That woman is too ignorant to claim they load 83.000 everyday ,they tried that with me 10 years ago on a water load that was almost 46.000 in Maine i told them either take out a couple of pallets or take them all out,at the end they took 2 pallets out
I know where you are in SC! Spent 38 hours there waiting on a load to New York during the lockdown, never got loaded. That Muellers is the absolute worst.
I get the feeling they didnt want to do shit! Great job being assertive to get it fixed!
Used to work as blue beacon and we had guys come in all the time from the warehouses to use our cat scale at ~83,000 pounds. I remember one guy was at 87,000 and he asked me "if I slide my tandems back do you think that would help?", I said, "I don't think so Tim."
Thats funny they "readjusted the weight" like they don't know 80,000 is the absolute cutoff for a legal load unless you have a overweight permit. Next time i'd double check what their plan is when you need to return to the shipper it would've saved some time just to make sure they aren't just gonna "move a pallet around".
Damn Justin. What a nightmare load! What you got thrown at you was wild. As always, your attitude is impeccable! Wish truckers were treated better: appreciate professionalism to the trade, provide safe, ample parking, respect your time (strict HOS requirements) and more. Unbroken trailer seal issued by shipper then acknowledged by receiver upon arrival proves load not tampered with while in carrier's possession.
I admire your patience. It just shows being mellow is the way to go. Be an all pissed off then get you nowhere stay cool my friend

Thanks brother next time man 🙏🏽😎
That warehouse which loaded your trailer must be using some sort of new math.

Public school education common core math.
Our live loads usually run between 42-44k (3rd party shippers), though we run 46k-49k loads on company loads b/c they are all day cabs, though we do cut pallets when needed or if a driver requests pallets cut for weight reasons
8:38 How many times do yall here that B.S "we do it all the time" lol
get the cat scale app and you will never have to get the scale ticket unless you need it. or talk to the person on the intercom. They really need to hire people who understand there job. that is just ridiculous.
It looks like Justin you got one of them old freight loads from hell, they're gonna mess around with you a little bit before you get ready to go, I've had quite a few of those myself. These shippers should know on those heavy loads, they should be asking when it's a different carrier to come in there and pick it up, how heavy of a load can they haul.
I think I have said this before in most warehouse's and stores like supermarket stores in the U.K. they would check the pallets and in most cases sign received unchecked I drove lorries for 43 years and I can safely that I only had to wait for the pallets to be stripped down 3 times and it was the same store each time (Waitrose store in Bracknell ) keep safe !!!!

That lady at Walmart knows she's lying. 44 thousand is standard maximum loaded weight in a sleeper truck, just like you said. I, on the other hand, can take 50 thousand in a day cab hauling dry bulk cement. That's 1 fuel tank and the passenger seat removed. Lol!😂😂

Actually the USA standard unit is 40k but it's heavily abused to get free shipping on cargo above the standard shipping unit ✌🏼
Company I drive for routinely takes that much weight and more. We have T680 with a 54" sleeper,, my truck itself weighs under 16,500lbs, with my dry van its a total of 29,000lbs, less when I pulled a Conestoga.
A Justin look like it's time for you too get some mobile scales on your tractor truck.
The nerve of these shippers man. Been in that situation a few times it’s like bang your head agaist a wall.

Yeah I didn’t know how to explain it’s still going to be 83k pounds 😳😂🙏🏽
Wow, you explained it really well, total weight is total weight!!! It can’t be hard to update the bills, too! I’ve lucked out everywhere I’ve been! I’ve only had one, try to charge me $100 fee to touch the load again!!! Found your channel, love your videos so far!!!
I had a plain Jane '06 9400 that weighed 22500 (no APU, or nutt'n) could barely haul 46k, my '16 prostar was over 25k by itself, wouldn't take over 43k, my daycab pete's were @17.5k (but all I pulled with them was local car parts

Wow! My truck only weighs 20,800 lbs that's with 200 gallons fuel, an apu and pump bolted on my frame.🤔
Math is hard I'd warn other truckers about this shady warehouse
I was over weight one time by thousand lbs with half tank of fuel. Went back to shipper told them about it & they said they couldn't do anything about it. I had 2 options which was to drive the way it was & take back roads Or wait until morning and see if upper management would be willing to take a pallet off. I took the back roads.

If you got caught they may be able to add a fine for avoiding scales.
Oh I kinda got carried away with the trailer stuff yesterday but was thinking Midwest towing has one of the trailers that the wheels slide back and I also saw them on MURPHYs towing definitely less labor putting a load on but I think you need the wet hookup on the truck but not positive you do!!! If you’re bored maybe you can check it out on their channel??? The one you saw yesterday where the ramp comes out the back I believe those are definitely a wet system trailer needing a hydraulic pump on your truck to make it happen!!! I’m not trying to spend your money like that but think it’s great that you keep your options open for staying busy!!!!
Generally when you get an overweight ticket they charge you by the pound which is usually 5 cents per pound not a 100 dollar ticket believe me I wished
Hey Justin that shipper sucks. what happened to the concrete loads?

He gave them up.
Safe travels Justin
Some of those light wips are lifetime warranty might want to check into that.
I don’t trust those brokers or shippers . A lot of times the invoice will say one weight when the actual weight is more. At least two pallets need to come off.
Wow that's crazy and they lieing smh
