Tobias said in an interview that this song is kind of telling a romance in black plague era, when people were basically sentenced to death when infected. And you look at you loved one, hold his/her hand and she/he's dying. Very sad indeed

This is my favorite part of Prequelle. The whole album is a story. In Dance Macabre, he falls in love. In Pro Memoria, he's taunted with death. In Witch Image, he sells his soul for eternal life. In Helvetesfonster, the bell tolls (the chime at midnight from Dance Macabre). In Life Eternal, he laments his eternal life without his lover.

Life Eternal is such a beautiful, sad song. It's also quite beautiful if you hear it live too. Ghost did a great live recording of it during one of the BBC Recording sessions they did a couple years ago, I'd recommend it. But yes, it is a song that leaves you melancholic and contemplative about life. Excellent reaction, you two!

This is the finale song of Prequelle, the album about the Black Plague, so of course, this is when the last people are letting go, as foreshadowed in Dance Macabre. The song that comes before this, Helvetesfönster, is very fitting in that it communicates the quietness of the world after many of the people are gone and it flows right into this.

I’ve heard different theories about this one. Some have said it’s from the view point of Satan? Tobias says it’s about eternal life and would you want it? Is that something you could commit to? I don’t know exactly what it means but still love the way it’s crafted and written. To me it sounds like she’s committed and he’s not, If you had life eternal, she says.. Sounds like she’s entering the afterlife without him to me anyway.

That's not really how Wikipedia works in practice. Most articles (at least the established ones, not so much small and obscure ones) are closely monitored by editors who get notified if something changes, and if they see that the change is wrong somehow, they will immediately change it back. And everything is (or should be) sourced and can be confirmed by checking out that source if you're unsure of the veracity. There have even been studies that show an extremely high accuracy on Wikipedia! :)

It sounds like a beautiful love song until he says "Will you let me touch your soul forever?" and it's instantly creepy. That's not what a lover would say, more like a demon seducing a poor mortal into eternal damnation.
