A brilliant experiment. This should help people distinguish from passive internalized bias to pervading information actively subjected to on a daily basis. However, it is still a question of self monitoring and more to awareness of the process occurring when engaging people, phones screens or marketing ads. With a little more research, we are getting close to rid ourselves of trusting that belief is real and more to understand the elusive manipulation of information when arranged in a specific context to attract and play us to make believe that it is real. In the end, we are prisoners of our own intellectual designs be it logical or believable. Nice one!

when we want someone not to do something by browbeating, mostly it doesn't work. However when we show some kind of alternatives and its benefits, the odds are they would take it. So, as you have mentioned these things separately but I guess these directs towards the one: the later one..Thanks! It's a great talk.

Information is causing polarization. Confirmation bias is more rampant when you can find information that supports your beliefs. Beliefs can be used to filter information. Strongly held beliefs are hard to change even if you're wrong. Information is good like a reward. Positive we want to know, negative we don't want to know. Disagree with counter evidence. Find common beliefs for common grounds. Discuss what you agree on and highlight common motives. Progress > Decline Better than expected news is received better. Tend to learn more from good news. Highlight what you will get rather than what you will lose. Positive encouragement can lead to better progress and immediate rewards. More like to be repeated in the future. Social norms and self control play a factor. Less Now > More Later Act to get the good stuff. Anticipate good things; stay put during bad situations. Rewards and action vs punishment and inaction. Stress and happiness change with age. Expectations can change your state. Anticipate events.

My first thought was to say 1,3,5 ….. What does this say about me? Could explain why I am told by people that they like me more and am enjoyable if spending time with me is done in small doses. Except with kids, kids never find me exhausting to be around! lol

The fmri for undergrads about info of losing money kind of reminding me loss aversion: we are risk averse to gain but risk seeking for loss

No matter any studies, the test analysis must be having the baseline to compare with two different subjects. All you mentioned the experiments, which absent the baseline, it presents in many influence for interrupting the data, so which is hard to get the real conclusion....

This was a brilliant talk and I have just ended one of her books. However, the title of both this talk and her books are a bit misleading, as they are not really intended to explain how the matter can be used to influence others.

isnt' dopamine about anticipation and not the reward itself? that'd explain why DA fire more while anticipating good stuff no matter how much it's just good and vice versa. It motivates/demotivates an individual to proceed further

Why do you “hate it” when a teacher asks you to guess what they are thinking in regards to a set of numbers? Is it safe to say you aren’t into scientific studies?
