If you actually look at the three definitions of the words you mentioned you see they are ALMOST interchangeable; so get off your god damn high horse and fuck off.

This comment section is toxic. Robert Greene is one of the most gifted writers in the field of human relationship and psychology, and his latest book changed the way I look at my life, people, and the world. It took him almost 6 years and a nearly fatal stroke to complete his new book, so it's safe to assume that he poured an immense amount of time and energy into writing the best possible book about human nature.

Just because it changed your life, doesn't make it or elevate him to the status you have. It doesn't make him an authority or scientist......and he has discovered nothing new or original, in fact he's very confused but grateful to your contribution to his well being.....so the question is.....are you now a captive audience, or has he inspired to explore other efforts? The Bible is still used an "authority".....it's not very useful....new religions are not what is needed......

Agree. One should always strive to rise above the failings of the subconscious behaviour. Yet sometimes, the undiagonised subconscious behavior shaped by evolution which might be right for some circumstances can be too strong even when it is wrong and overrides the conscious. I think the individual needs to cultivate the ability to control those overrides and the ones on the receiving end must not be bitter but take steps to control the damage and if possible help them to get a better balance.

As a psychology student (albeit not yet a graduate) I can already tell that much of Greene’s work comes from already existing theories/research, and not the other way around. (At least on this topic of human nature; I haven’t read his book on power but I understand that topic is more based on his observations and experiences.) But that’s not a bad thing, in fact it’s the opposite - this subject being rooted in existing science and research adds credibility and authority to what he’s saying. Also I agree one of his gifts is as a storyteller - I could listen to him speak for hours!

Robert is a Legend! He is so so good, he's excellent, so detailed, so patient, even with his voice running out, he carries on without trying to skip anything or rush it through. His depth, knowledge, his ability to put into perspective the different scenarios and complexities makes him so attractive to listen to. From the beginning till the end, I still pinned for more while losing the sense of time. His seduction is definitely working full-on.

I have listened to the book a few times now via audible, it's truely brilliant- deeply insightful about different types of people that one is exposed to across life. Being aware of the narcissistic, ego maniac, ones attitude etc is critical for life success. I particularly would recommend the chapter on attitude- attitude can be thought of as positive or negative, the more positive we are the more our appature is open allowing life and opportunity to come to us. A negative attitude is like a closed apparture where we close ourselves off and stay safe and have a fear based approach, and don't like to loose control... This is one of many insights I gained from the book- a must read life changing.
