I can honestly say that this is the only channel that I watch on KZread where I’m always smiling. The banter between you two is wonderful and always amusing. This and Cutting Edge Engineering are my two favourite channels. Keep up the good work guys 👍.

I too like their banter, and I also watch Kurtis of Cutting Edge Engineering on the Gold Coast of Queensland Australia.

Same here this is why I watch. I have a D1 so none of the repairs apply to mine .

Ah yes I watch cutting edge engineering too with homeless the dog 😎
Yes, when you own a Land Rover you need to have a back-up vehicle. I bought a Toyota Yaris because everybody knows Toyotas are reliable. It developed an ABS fault almost immediately which proved difficult to diagnose. After inspecting all hubs, and finding various problems with all of them, I got the ABS working long enough to sell it again. Next I bought a Honda Jazz because everybody knows Hondas are smple and completely bulletproof. 3 months later, two of the pistons tried to escape through the side of the engine-block. New engine (from a scrap yard) in and sold it sharpish. Replaced it with a Mini Cooper because everybody knows Minis are cheap to run and easy to sell later on. It's roughly £5 per week cheaper to run than my Land Rover and, 6 months later, the fuel pump died and I had to pull half the car apart to replace it. Meanwhile, my unreliable 20 year-old Discovery 2 with 200,000 miles on it has needed a new set of windscreen wipers.

True story, yeah right.
Personally, I would love to see more detailed videos about fixing this Mercedes. Your videos are always enjoyable, and I am not a Land Rover person per se
I was expecting "Our Landover needs a backup Landcruiser" . *OMG*
You did a lot of work on the small MB. Of course we want to see more! I would even watch you repair a Toyota 😀
According to my children in Munich, Germany is the world centre of old fashioned bureaucracy🎉
Best channel ever. Vera is totally correct to check the cash she received from the ATM; they DO actually mis-count on occasions.
Its only a matter of time until Vera gets her "G Class". 😁😁

😅💪We wish, but way too expensive. 🙋♀️Vera
Wow! Here in the states that Mercedes would've been a $10,000 car on any used lot. I think that was a great price. Your tag and registration process is so much nicer than it is here too, and cheaper as well.
Please share the rest of the content. We like your videos!
You guys are great !!!! What a great surprise to find your channel over the holidays 🙏🙏🙏
I must have accidentally tuned in to MB TIME. There used to be a channel called LR TIME where they worked on The “insuperior” Land Rover products. Just kidding! Love the channel and the video!
What else , it's Sunday ! Yay 😂 You guys cheer me up .......
Hi Christian & Vera love your videos but not all Australians watching are Australian. I am from Belfast living in Perth and well used to snow flakes. That is what I enjoy so much apart from the banter, although snow is for sitting inside with a warm drink, not freezing like you guys. Again love your work.

I would like to see you do repairs on the Mercedes please. I enjoy seeing all the work you do and the very thorough way you do things. Thank you.
Christian and Vera, I'm so pleased to see you've bought the German equivalent of the venerable Toyota Corolla. I'd certainly be interested to follow it's ongoing maintenance. issues.
German precision. We love it.. ⚙️ Not as good as japanese precision but a lot better than Chinese 😆. Wish you luck with the Mercedes. Love from Sweden.👍
Vera and Christian are youtubers who have me waiting for their next videos. Informative and entertaining. Love to both of you.

It's very strange to see Christian handling a Mercedes. 😆 A hug from Portugal
I have a LR backup vehicle too , a 2012 Skoda Yeti 4x4 , it's due it's UK version of TüF this week 🙈 , bound to cost money this year as it needed no repairs last year. Love the contents no matter what vehicle you work on 🙂.

We would have loved to get a Skoda Yeti or Roomster, but they are too expensive. We could not find one. They cost more than an old Mercedes B Klass.🙋♀️Vera
I was just told about your channel after my Freelander gearbox broke! I have a Mercedes as a back up for my Land Rover and several Rovers so had to watch this episode
Thank you, Vera and Christian!! I love that you have taken a car that would have been allowed to rot away and be scrapped and given a it a new lease on life. It was nice to see and hear that you are also fixing the rust under and inside it. Great video and a lot of fun as always.
4:22 I envy that Sparkasse as it was being touched by Vera
Heels on ground, comrade found! Quality squat. I usually just wear my oldest pants that I don't mind getting dirty and sit on the ground, lift or no lift. Haha.
Anyone buying your old cars will be getting a great deal .👍🇬🇧
I now appear to be watching your videos in reverse because the content is both entertaining and educational. ive already ordered a DAB addition to try out on one of my cars, along with some Sagrotan. ive got all sorts of car cleaning equipment so I give that a go too !! On another note - The registration process looks very slick in Germany, especially from an identification & security standpoint. Im sure there will be other comments here stating that we in the UK just either post off or go online to switch over the registration.....Anyone can do it 😮. Then again, our vehicle exercise duty (Tax) to drive the vehicle on the road is quite expensive. The state of UK roads too, our local authorities do an exceptionally poor job at maintaining them. Great content as always
Fantastic and looking forward to seeing the new repairs 🇬🇧😎
That was a proper service, I do not mean any offence when I say I always presumed Germans did not have a sense of humour, but Vera and Christian you have changed my opinion, you have to be the most perfectly matched couple. When Vera was looking at the new Disco I loved the way Vera was so impressed by the tyres and the winch, other ladies would not even have noticed them.
Good morning this Sunday morning can't wait to see the video 👍👍👍👍💕
My backup vehicle here in the UK to my Disco Sport is a 2012 Mercedes SLK 200 . It was made in Germany !! . Cover your ears Cristian but my Landrover is going into the LR main Dealers for its annual service and MOT. Next week. Which is the UK government test that all vehicles over three years old need to go through.

They will fill the wrong oil in. Unfortunately. Christian
Appreciate the guided tour of the German registration process. We take a number here in Australia as well but only get the next plate on the pile. Getting it printed on the spot is fantastic. Customised plates here are ordered online via a private company. And its alot more expensive here!
Your humor is infectious I love it !
Super .Thank you.
Thanks again guys another great Video.
You two are brilliant. So positive about crap British cars.
Mercedes content as interesting as lr content. Well done
a delightful episode of lr time(s)! as a mercedes-aholic (5,3 are roadworthy) I approve of your purchase. I Bought a Volvo wagon to fix up and use as alternate transport and then give to my son (and still being used !). Cant wait to see the cab come off the lr3🤠🤠
Thanks guys, yet another excellent video.
A great episode, highly entertaining and lots of humour as well as being a great source of ideas and information, thanks Vera and Christian and look after yourselves friends
You are both brilliant keep on doing what you are doing
Great video again looking forward to the next episode 👍👍👍👍
2:00 - now I see, that I used German approach when I bought Opel Astra 1.3 CDTI caravan) I do all my maintenance by my self, but to reduce amount of money on car I choose a small simple one 13:45 - Heels in the sky - western spy, heels on the ground - comrade found )))
Ver enjoyable video thank you.
I love the way you 2 have banter with each other. Also you both have a fantastic channel.
Hi Chaps - very interesting and enjoyable thanks (as usual). 2 things.... 1) yes please, I'd love to see the videos of the rest of the mercedes repairs, & 2) did you do before and after OBD-II tests? surely the mercedes is new enough to report on lots of different things. Already looking forward to next Sunday's video!

No, I did not try to connect to the Mercedes. My friends all work at Mercedes and have the workshop tools. So I don´t need to be self sufficient as for the LR. Christian
"Oh My God".. I love it guys. Thank you. it reminds me what it was like to rebuild all the front end of my very old Massey Ferguson TEA 20 tractor. Such fun and enjoyment. Please keep it up. Great work. Love from Down under.
Great content Vera and Christian! Sound economics/contingency planning there.
Love you too always interested in what you are doing you both make me smile thanks so much
I would like to see more video repairs about this Mercedes. Thank you, you both are amazing.
Great Video - Enjoy the humour !
Can't wait for more Mercedes videos in the future! Love those vehicles very much!
Congratulations on your back up Mercedes guys! Now get that body off Christian! lol
Here i Sweden we had o lot of B-klasse in taxi. They easely lasted for 400 - 600 thousand kilometres, mostly with only regular maintainence. Good cars with plenty of room for 5 persons.
Christian has the Slav Squat down to an art!
Brilliant video as normal
Great job and yes I would like to see more content on the Mercedes
Great video. I know this is a once off but I’d love to see more repairs on German cars and trucks. Great channel
Hi, Vera and Christian! I noticed a pause in this video from 18:16 to 18:29. I thought at first the video player had skipped or something, but I went back to the beginning and found the same time pause. As I would, I wanted to let you know about it. I loved this episode on the Benz. May this car keep you and your family safe always, and be a good and dependable vehicle. God bless.

Hi Christian and Vera, good work 👏Very Nice D5 😍
The last owners always drove in the car together as both seats were worn. They were obviously not married! Ha ha ha. Thanks
Was für ein Schönes Auto und ein Tolles Video 😊
Nice Mercedes, sounds so sweet.
Excellent video guys. So interesting to see what should be checked or changed on an older car. It looks like an excellent purchase. Any in-depth videos on the B Class would be welcome 🙂
Please show more video of the Mercedes’. Love how you talk so highly about it. I had a Mercedes’ before I got my discovery 3.

SOOOO GOOD
Very nice 👍 😊
A backup vehicle for a Land rover is a very sane move. Gives you flexibility and time to do a good job. The B is a good option. Tiny. Well made. Cheap to run.
Great video 👍 I would like to see more videos on the Mercedes 😀 🛠️
Hi Christian and Vera, what wonderful people you are? I first saw your channel whilst looking at LR engine removal... Although we don't have a Discovery, we have a 2007 Freelander 3.2 i6 HSE Auto, (LHD). What captured my attention was the statement that you do your own repairs and go against the trend of buy small, new and sell on afterwards. We share our time between the UK and France. I love my FreeDeux but we too have a back-up vehicle, a 2008 Mercedes A200CDI Elegance. Surprisingly roomy with lots of nice things altough over 200,000 k on the clock. We also made the decision that we would do our own servicing and repairs. There are so many things that are similar, We don't so much have a garage, but a barn with tools!! And have purchased a two-post lift, that is waiting until we can put in a concrete base. So far I have replaced the cyclinder head on FreeDeux and will soon, (after we install the lift) swap out the engine and gearbox. We replaced the a/c compressor and the Auto gearbox ECU on the baby Mercedes. May I say that you are both inspirational, Thank you for sharing.

Hello Emma, thank you so much for your comment. Sorry for the late reply but sometimes, we get so many comments that we miss sometimes important ones. You are going to love having a lift, I certainly do and I wasn't sure we really actually needed one. 😀I miss my Freelander, it's actually parked outside across my house on the pasture to be fenced in for horses. Living the good life now. 💪🙋♀️Vera
Good morning, first time first!!! 😜@29.00 " what an enjoyable click" 😂👌next time buy a BMW X3 diesel
Good choice guys with getting the little merc. Repaired and maintained to perfection Christian 👌. I have owned four mercs over the years. We have just bought a LR back up vehicle too - a Honda CR-V.
We had a B Class in our family a few years ago. I think you made a good Compromise!
Hi everyone mine is a vw Passat estate had her for years love them both lol 😆😆
I love your content. Keep going. Most LR owners also have a backup car but sadly NOT a two post lift. We will follow your Merc repairs too.
CHRISTIAN,Not the first or last to repair shoddy garage work,I've been doing it decades on cars for friends, and ones I brought.your not alone.
We just gave our daughter exactly this model of B class in the UK Good choice The air con also doesn't work.
Great video You need to get a tool trolley cart for working on your vehicles really handy to keep tools and parts at waist level, very cheap
Interesting rear brakes, with drum and disc, no wonder the shop messed it up. Even my Volvo480 and RREvoque managed to use only a disc brake for rear and parking brake action. Also interesting that you addressed the rust, my car, 5 years younger, already looks way uglier.
All of your videos are welcome, either LR or Mercedes or whatever 👍 thank you!!!
Always entertaining 😁 Great video. Merc ain’t what they used to be. Good luck!!
I too have a back-up car- a Honda Civic, which is two years older than the Land Rover D3. 05 Thanks for the entertaining video. Gpx
Wow 3000 that seems a lot plus 1000 for repairs and why do need a new set of plate do yo need to re-register every time it changes hands is that like Tax on car?? love your ability and skill level and just love how Vera is always smiling and Christian very dry humour thanks guys loved it.
...and I would like to see more detail on the Mercedes please!
One of the scariest rides of my life was in a B Class taxi in Berlin. If you do any more videos on the little Mercedes you're going to give me flashbacks...
DIRT - Nice plate. Have a Panda 4x4 as back up.
Had a 2004 A 180 diesel - ran more than 400000 - I finally ditched it because too many sensor (can be expensive) errors and some rust. Otherwise really nice car- good luck
Thanks

Wow, thank you David for your contribution. That is so great. 😃🙏🙋♀️Vera
Oh yes please do some repair videos for the Mercedes, I have a 07 A-180 and I’m sure I can use your expertise on MB as well as the Disco!
"We would rather push the vehicle(Disco) off a cliff before it will ever see a Land Rover shop" this phrase perfectly sums up all the idea about your channel and how LR cannot/doesnot maintain their vehicles properly. I do not have a disco yet, but I am planning to get one. And, I loved the idea to maintain your car yourself.

Nice licence plate - "Dirt not found" :)
Now you have the backup vehicle I’m hoping you’ll move onto getting the body off Vera’s D3. I keep hearing ‘we’ll wait till the engine fails’ but I honestly think this is not a good strategy. A broken crank is going to do untold damage to the block as well as causing failure in other components. If there was one thing I could do to my D3 now it would be to get the engine out and replace those worn bearing shells. For peace of mind if nothing else. Apart from that, if Vera doesn’t like the Mercedes Christian might have to lend her the the mall crawler! Keep up the brilliant content, it’s the best thing on KZread. Thanks.

Great video as always Christian & Vera. One observation, a lack of ear protection when using the grinder. Mate, that will do for your hearing in no time at all, ask me how I know (but speak loudly!) All the best my friend. Andy 👍🏻
I love your channel. You two are really entertaining. I'm from the USA and also love my D1. I have a few videos on it on my channel. I also built a few rear bumper and swing out tire carriers on the classic and lr3. I love the attention to detail. You guys really do great work. 👍

@@Vera_and_Christian that's pretty neat. I wish we had those laws here. And I also wish we had the superior td5 motors in them. 😆 I'm stuck with the inferior gas motor. 😢
Thoroughly enjoyed this video and like others I continually smiled throughout. I bought a 2001 mini cooper for my daughter's first car and then, just like you guys, replaced virtually everything on it to make sure it was safe and fully serviceable. Looking forward to the body off Jobs. Don't wait until it breaks as there could be too much damage and prevention is always better than cure 👍my D3 body will be off in a few weeks to after my engine died in Norway so I was hoping to get some tips from you 🤣🤣hurry up and get on with it before the weather turns 😁😎see you next week.
