Love your humor Christiaan . Keep up the good work 🤘
As an engineer myself, I love it when Christian starts explaining how everything works down to the smallest details! Haha Amazing video as usual, I really think the air suspension (along with many other features) is what makes the LR3 and LR4 the standouts of the crowd. My dream is to own a LR3 someday! Hi Guys, I write this at 8:42 in the video because I didn't want to forget - re the air suspension there are pro-active maintenance areas to help avoiding trouble: 1. Replace the nylon piston ring in the compressor every 2 years to ensure that pumping is in tiptop order. Cost £ 15 and easy to do; 2. Clean and lubricate the ride height sensors every year - cost 30 mins and some spray cleaner/lube; 3. Re air springs, every year put vehicle in full height and using a spray bottle full of soapy water, spray all round each air spring to check for leaks and rubber perishing. DO THIS BEFORE you have a problem to avoid time off the road.

Hey David, do you have a DIY how this can be done ? I recently became an owner of a LR3, when started the air compressor works for some time even though the car does not seem to have changed how it stands, after running, a loud PSHH is being fired up as if it is a real truck, respectively shortly after I park, car seems to lower different wheels trying to maintain equal level I suppose (I park it on a 2% steep ramp), so with the above info I'd rather check these before running into air compressor problems :)

You have convinced me not to remap. Totally agree with comments on the air suspension. Thanks for the video.👍
Absolutely brilliant Christian and Vera..Great advice 👍
Good morning, Christian & Vera.
The LR3 with the square lights looks the best, it’s the same for the early L322, the square lights look much better than the later lights. The proportions of the square lights suit the boxy shape better and more timeless.

I love your channel, you guys are great!!!! very fun, informative and entertaining. Thank you for sharing.
Excelent vídeo as always.....🤙🤙💯
I totally agree with you about the air suspension. It’s the best part of the vehicle. Other vehicles try to put air system and fail. Not the lr4, t’s a very solid system.
Great video, love the discussions on the air bag system. I came across a random issue from previous repairs on a mall crawler, it had got a epb module at some stage and one of the cables was making light contact with one of the air pipes which put a practically invisible pine hole on it which was only findable with a smoke tester and luminous die…..! It had got a suspension pump but was still logging random faults if ever the vehicle was loaded up!
Fab video as always..
Love you videos, thanks for the effort! I didn't known that it lowers down on high speed, but did you know that when you are in the highest position and you get stuck, you push the brakes, try to lower it down, the ECU see that the car is not lowering, and then you can lift the car an extra 1" if i remember correctly:) anyway your videos make me think about coming back to LR!! Thank you for the content!!!
Love you guys, you’re so funny and entertaining. Regards from Costa Rica
You guys are the coolest..I agree with you on all those things..The Disco 4 when you see it from the front reminds me the range rover but the disco 3 looks just like the unique beautiful monster it is and nothing out there looks like it..
Thanks for the forward brilliant explanation/lecture.
The James May of LR TIME. I love it! Great Video guys.

I completely agree on Christian’s point on fitting Discovery 4 parts to a Discovery 3, and ‘de-tangoing’ the lights. They look great as standard, and to the trained eye a D3 made to look newer is so obvious. Keep up the great work!
Fully agree on all four subjects. Never change an already winning team😋

Another wonderful video you two! The gist of it is leave your Disco alone, just maintain it... I must admit I did chip mine and subsequently took it out when it misbehaved, beware. Disappointed the Disco 4 travel is less than the 3, didn't know that.
Love this. Am gradually working my way through your videos. I laughed at the start of this with your reference to warmth in Australia. That's where i am. Keep up the good work. I was a D3 owner for 8 years and 350Ks and now a 2012 Disco 4 with 250K. Loved them both but the D4 is a much better vehicle that the D3 in my opinion. Thank you.
Funny, as of last week my discovery 3 is sitting in lowest position. Panicking that it is going to cost me a fortune considered coil springs but watching this has changed my mind and given me hope. putting it in to garage this week to diagnose the problem (local independent specialist with great reputation not a lr dealer) I would love to fix myself but lack of tools and equipment I think this is one for the garage.
Hi from Australia..you two..Viel SpaB
A very interesting video, again! I have the 2010 LR4 and every 4-6 weeks it warns me of a low battery. Apparently, if the car is used on short/medium runs, the battery doesn't fully charge. I Googled this and I think it was on the Disco3 Forum that a Ctek charger was recommended for charging. I bought one and give it a charge every 6 weeks or so. The 'Mall Crawler' is a great name for the LR4, in the UK any 4x4 SUV is referred to as a 'Chelsea tractor', Chelsea being an upper class area in London 😉. Well done for another great video, you two are fantastic! Also, Robin is a very talented metal worker 👍
You 2 are funny. 🥂 learned a lot from your videos too, I don’t have a discovery but I might get one eventually.

One below 150t km or a V8… 👍 Christian
Love today's video - Jeeps are getting to be just as sensitive with the check engine light as the LR's. I am constantly running a scan tool to check what sensor is at fault, plus we have the biodegradable wiring harness that doesn't like the southwestern US heat so they get very brittle - I think this is the main cause for sensor failures. So now I am looking at dealerships for an LR3 to own as they can't be any worse to own. :)
@Vera_and_Christian

Oh yeah, also watch out for brittle cables. Even we had to replace a lot of looms yesterday , Sarah-n-tuned style. 👍🙋♀️Vera
I agree on the air suspension. It's magic! My Disco 3 has a height sensor issue and the ecu threatens to slow down but doesn't (thankfully!) I'm waiting on a Foxwell NT510 to diagnose and then also calibrate the new sensor. I changed the front air struts after 250k.
Robin needs to do his own channel. Love your videos
I retrofitted the Boge Hydromat self-leveling hydraulic strut to my coil-sprung Land Rover Discovery 300tdi. It always kept the same ride height, no matter what weight I was towing or what weight I was carrying inside the car. Fantastic piece of kit. Sadly, I no longer own it. It was more fun to drive than the Discovery 4 I owned after it.
Great video thanks and yes I would like to see a video on your dab radio 🙂
Totally agree with your points and here’s what I did! Had a lovely D3 Tdv6 se for 7 years which was a great car but I sold it! So I bought a Defender 110 Td5 which is fantastic! And 6 months ago I bought a D4 V8 5.0 litre which I highly recommend! And an update on the 1977 petrol engine series 3 the rebuild is a success and love this car to bit’s as I do all my LandRover fleet all definitely different and awesome to drive! I love your sons metal work that is fantastic! Regards Toby
Hello Christian & Vera, I agree with all the items you said you would not modify on a Discovery 3 & 4. Apart from maintenance & repairs, which are unavoidable, I prefer to spend my money on functional items in/on my vehicle. Most of these items are purely personal preference, however they have a use, a purpose. Some items have the additional bonus of adding visual appeal, most do not. They look good in that the workmanship is good, but they are first and foremost functional for my intended use. Keep up the great videos & comments. You mentioned the temperature in Australia, A few days ago in Brisbane it was 28°C (82°F) at 9.00pm! Thank goodness for air conditioning. I can't wait to see snow. I have only seen it once. Maybe this year.
I’m a Toyota owner (I have two of them in the garage) you both crack me up. Great videos.
Hi Christian and Vera another brilliant video you’re very correct about the suspension I had to replace the ECU for the air suspension thank you for the help and a new compressor when buying a compressor don’t buy the cheap ones there are only two but you should have Hitachi or Dunlop the other makes maybe a lot cheaper but the pressure they work up is lower so the pump works harder what I’m saying just buy the good ones which will cost you around £400 but saying that I also need a set of valves at the front catch up with you next week keep safe. John 😁🇬🇧👍

I miss the ride on my LR3 since buying the X5 although it has rear air bags the comfort of the LR exceeds the X5 plus it is not so easy to get in and out your spot on, l did however once have a complete air suspension failure on a new 3 months old LR vehicle - a pot holed farm track the culprit LR tried to blame me for miss treating the vehicle! Another entertaining video guys. Sorry Christian l had my 3 remapped and it was noticeable immediately quicker off the mark and l certainly got more mpg.

Omg.. totally agree with everything you said.. air suspension probably the best feature. Shame they didnt make the tdv6 more long lived and easier to maintain though. 180k miles on my V8 gas engine and no issues. However, I am very envious of the lower fuel consumption and longer range of the tdv6.
Guy's thank you so much for your channel - I live in Brisbane Australia, I am 52 and have just bought my very first LR.....it is a 2005 Discovery 3 HSV V8. I've been told it is relativly rare here in Aus with only 100 being exported to Australia. Agreed on all 4 points, can I add that you don’t need to re paint your alloys dark grey or black on your D3. Original silver is perfectly cool.
I love your videos ! And now I want an Toyota.
I traded my dirt bike for an LR3 with the 4.4 v8. It supposedly had bad head gaskets. Turns out it just had a broken thermostat housing. I was really excited about that but the bad news is someone had already made the switch to coil spring. I want to go back to air bags eventually.
The thing I miss most from my L322 Range Rover is the Air Suspension. 👍
Morning Vera & Christian. I just love your channel about LR discovery’s 😂 I love the fact that your German and work on an English vehicle lol 😆 I always compare German manufacturing as the best in the world 🌎 I drove my lorry many times in Germany 🇩🇪 delivering and collecting parts for different medical company’s especially Siemens MRI scanners to Erlangen. The magnets were built in the U.K. in Oxford then finish off in Erlangen. So we used to say born in England 🏴 but built in Germany by the experts 😀 The factory was on the old US air base so they had a lot of skilled workers on hand 🤣 Take care chopping your wood 🪵 as with gas prices you’ll need it 👍🏻 Cheers Stevie. 😘 for Vera x
