The first priority should be protecting your new chateau from water damage. I would restore the windows & broken glass in the Knight's Rm to protect the wall & floor from further damage. ❤️🙏

I don't know if anyone else is having the same issue but I'm having to turn the volume up when you are talking as I can hardly hear what your saying and then turn it back down when the loud music comes on. Do you use microphones? I would love to watch this with less music but other than this it's an interesting vlog. X

Terry and Ash at Chateau LaLacelle use a product made by Gilboys and a power brush to polish their furniture. It gives it a sheen as well as moisturizing the wood. Those chairs around the table looked like that would be just the thing for them. Maybe open the shutters to allow more light in.😊

Watching the video again and this Chateau has a ton on History behind it . Looking at a person that would really want to come and stay there , keeping the French look throught out should be a must , including the visitors rooms but yes they do need doing up . But on the side untouched Donna is right clean it make it look respectable even the old library u could clean it , and maybe be a neat room for guests to just read in there . All the old antique furniture needs a good wax being a Antique dealer and collector dusting and waxing is best for antique furniture. Its amazing place gorgeous stunning setting u are both so very lucky . I bet that Chapel has some hidden secrets too but shame they changed it but in time u may get it back to being a Chapel theres a lot hidden up upper that new ceiling . Thank u for the tour cant wait to see more rooms untouched. ❤❤

Enjoyed having a slow tour of a handful of rooms to be able to appreciate the many details. And what a trove of original features that all add up to such a wonderful and unique property: floors, stained glass windows, millwork, fireplaces, chandeliers... Something intriguing wherever one looks! And so much furniture and decorative objects. Even if they aren't all to your taste, many are useful (places to sit! And rest a glass of wine!) Imagine the time, effort and money needed to furnish a place this size on top of your "1 million and 50" other tasks of cleaning, updating and restoring! The thought boggles the mind. So much to do and yet also an enormous head start.

Wonderful new chateau vid. New favourite, especially because of an Aussie owner. You two have a lovely manner and I think you’ve done a terrific job hiring a professional videographer. The place is tres ’bonzer’. The historical rooms are crying out for living energy. It is essential that you preserve the significance of the Knight’s room and the library, of course, but you would honour them if they were cleaned by professionals and then used by you and your family. Not guests but those who will be building on its ‘story’. You will one day be it’s history don’t forget and for it to be nothing but a museum is somehow sad. I can see that table waxed and the chairs shining and candlelight bringing out the lustre of the fire surround and mantle, people laughing, eating and toasting to its beauty and to life and human artistry. Looking forward to seeing your next one and p.s. ….. get some more dogs, maybe a wolfhound or two.😊

Hi, your chateau is amazing! I'd give the Knights room a dust and clean as even that can eat away at stuff! When you're ready to do restoration, Stephanie Jarvis at Chateau Lalande (YT chateau diaries) is restoring her chapel and I have to say the craftspeople are amazing! I'd deffo contact her for the name of the company. It's fascinating what they've found- silver fleur de lys on the columns and even a hypercaust (which they'll look to use for ventilation). Massively €€€ - at least €400 000 😮 but personally, I think so worth it. The murano chandelier, Stephanie and Phillip saw one in Belgium, priced at €8000 😊 Do you have a wood store? Thats a priority for heating next winter as it takes quite a while for the wood to season. Your land, if you want to grow veggies, you need to make it deer and boar proof. Just to add to the million other things...... prioritise, and short, medium and long planning 🙂

This property is so big, we have only seen a fraction yet. Fantastic. I also really like your approach with the old knight‘s room - leaving it as is until you have the expertise and funds to give it your full reno attention. - The old library is my favourite so far, possibly because it is less ornate than the other rooms but no less elegant.

Such a beautiful chateau! I love the reverence you show for the history of it. I was watching another chateau show, and they put in ultra modern lighting and things. The guest rooms they renovated looked like an American Holiday Inn. If I was going to stay in a chateau, I would want it to look like a chateau, and not like a chain hotel! The reverence you show for the building and it's history reassured me that when you update your rooms, you will keep it looking like a chateau. I noticed that when you did your Australian place, you kept the farmhouse feeling, so that reassured me too. I'm looking forward to more of your videos!

Thank you both for the tour, goodness once you get the years of dust & grime from each room that you are leaving untouched, it will be a beautiful remarkable sight. If only the walls could talk what a story they would tell. I can smell the bee’s wax on the furniture & paneling, I can only guess, as you said, where to start. Good luck, it will come together once you come down of the high ’pinch me to see if it is real’ you are home. What a spectacular chandelier, exquisite, Murano is an island in the lagoon on the north side of Venice. The glass masters working there today are descendants of an unbroken line of artisans that reaches back to the beginning of the craft itself. In 1291. wow for you both! I was there a few years back & bought two beautiful wine glasses, once in a lifetime buy. You are so lucky to have some of their splendid chandeliers of Venice, so sought after by connoisseurs. Your priorities will be in place & rest assured it will come together.

You are definitely so lucky to have found this Chateau. The condition is amazing (of course, we are not seeing it close up like you are). The chandelier is Murano Glass from Italy. Soap and warm water will do the cleanup nicely (not too much soap); it will sparkle and is thing of beauty before and after cleanup. The antique furniture is stunning. Yes, a little ‘elbow grease’ and cleaner/waxing will bring it all back to life, beautifully. They are all treasures. The home is a treasure in itself. It will be hard work, but oh so worth it. Thank you for sharing this tour. Your interest & respect in the history is enjoyable to watch. You’re so lucky that so much of its furniture and contents have been left behind to continue in the history. The amazing wallpaper/ panels at the entrance reminds me of the expensive raised leather? wallpaper popular in the early 1900s. Michael from the Petherick’s KZread channel did research on replicating theirs and even visited the manufacturer. You have so much to do but feel like you can accomplish it all! So excited for you both!

The "Leather" embossed wall treatment was probably made by the same English company who did similar embossed leather look wall treatment on the Pethericks chateau. Michale went into more than one episode on that company who evidently still make it.

I would definitely try to steel the restorations for the Chateau diaries' paintwork and the architect from Chateau de Purnon to help you restore the knight's room.
