Unfortunately a lot of the lakes I fish are very clear and have kind of moody fish. I have to resort to the Ned quite a bit, but I rarely throw a TRD type bait. Big smallmouth were shallow recently and very spooky. The OSP Dolive shrimp and the Noike Donkey Boo fished on a ewg Ned head got it done. I like the 3” Dolive beavers and the 2.8 keitech crazy flapper on Ned heads too.

I use nishine jerkbaits a TON and the main reason is how great they work with a sweep as well as the traditional jerk. It gives me more cadence options. I like a sweep with a jerk at the end, or start with 2 jerks and immediately sweep then pause.

Valley hill booster blade is definitely a sleeper bait that kills for smallies, love that they were half off for this sale. Let it drop like a senko and then spybait retrieve if they don't inhale it at first

Smallmouth just been hitting so hard up here in Ohio river now all of a sudden off those big rocks they are gone the last couple days. I think they are either post spawn or locked on beds?? Was catching some nice 18-20 inch hogs.. water levels seriously down also from the dams in areas.

I crush them on the I loud post spawn, especially at night

😂 My very last comment was about you razing Griff over an I-wing, and what is Griffs first choice for a bait today... 😊 I own some I-wings so I personally can't razz anyone. I hear ya on the Ashura, what about the Twitch Shiner for the same type scenario. Just bought a mess of em in your sale, along with level minnows. Can't gave enough jerkbaits! 😂

Don't knock the rat. Every spring I have a handful of smallmouth that spit up mice and moles.

You guys don’t know jack about smallmouth. And neither do the Japanese. But you sure know a lot about tackle. MiniMAX, war eagle standard spinnerbait, jerkbait, and some SMALL bottom contact bait, and a drop shot , is all you need for smallmouth, to have some fun with them surface lures are great, for big smallies the smaller top waters excel for example the choppo 75.. not the 90 which is the same size only thinner profile, totally different sound and presence , the R2S 90 size is decent, but the sound the choppo 75 makes over any other size- aggravates the big ones more than any plopper bait and I have years of footage, 1000s of photos online, years of experimenting..the 75 has a sound they absolutely cannot stand I’ve have them absolutely smash it - break it they hit it so hard- or knock it 10+ feet in the air. When they eat it they eat it. It’s not that I haven’t caught them on the 90 and 105(110) it’s just that each has a sound and nothing aggravates them like the choppo 75- slow, with some pulls and twitch’s , also just on a straight retrieve. I have shorts of trains going by and when they honk on the horn by my town, and I’m retrieving a choppo- it gets smashed on the horn- I think it’s the combination of sounds alerting them to strike the nearby-noise making thing going over them. But the miniMAX , keitech/spark shad, jerkbait, and weightless caffeine Shad’s cannot be beat. Hands down cannot be beaten. These are highly pressured, very smart , very very big smallmouth. 16 inch goes 3.5 in this river, 20-21 inch goes 5-6. Goby eaters
