That’s a very nice looking hammock, can’t wait to see more of it on the 16th.

I just released the sneak peak of it, but tomorrow morning the full video comes out!
Great edit Mark, the time you put into it really shows.

Looked like a beautiful trail. Plenty of elevation change out there! Very cool to see all of those nice shelters along the trail.

Thanks, those shelters are well done for sure. That trail is about the best one around the region.
Loved the video. Liked how you showed the trip and your setups and mealtime. That’s what we all want to see!

Great job filming your trip! The traces of snow were a surprise as well as the very nice shelters. Thanks for highlighting trail maintenance, a subject that needs more attention from KZread backpacking channels.

It was a great trip, and a terrific trail. Trail maint gets taken for granted, but a lack of it can make a great trail terrible!

I have got to get in that trail. I’m in NW Louisiana so it’s not too far of a drive. Would like to do the whole thing over the summer one year with my older son.

Yeah, it's one of the best anywhere around!
Almost thought you added footage of the Laurel Highlands Trail trip you did with Frozen and Gary., kind of similar in spots. Amazing sharpness in all the clips, except for the end when it seemed to have trouble focusing on you or the background. Thanks for the review of the Aeropress Go, really enjoying my morning coffee and can't wait to try a cup in the middle of nowhere while out in the Mokai. Anticipating your next trip!

There were a couple spots the camera was doing that, I am working on figuring out what settings need to be tweaked to keep that from happening.
Great video! Glad y'all enjoyed the jerky! Figured the ghost pepper would help keep you warm! ;)

Love the OT. Turner gap shelter one of the best. Thanks for giving a shout out to FOOT great bunch of folks to be around. I maintain the first 2.5 miles of the trail and always encourage folks to give back to what they enjoy. Hope you enjoy the rest of the trail.

Trail maintainers don't get enough credit, but they are killing it out there!
Hey Mark, good to see you back in the states. Other than the backpacking food you tried; did you sample any of the traditional "gastric delights" the Brits love? Also I noticed you were using a bridge hammock. Is that underquilt just a normal quilt? Been thinking of picking up a Ridgerunner for a while but not if I have to buy a a special quilt. Currently I'm rocking the long econ Incubator.

Thanks! I had a little bit here and there, some pub food, some local ales, and samples a lot of different gin and tonics. I did use a standard quilt, but it’s not the best for that setup. If you get serious about the bridge, it’s probably going to be worth getting the right stuff.
What section was this? Great video. I’m not sure i can make 40 miles in a weekend. lol.
Well now I've seen everything. Spiguyver in a RidgeRunner...while backpacking even. How'd you handle the Hang Time Hook in that? I've got a new method where I run regular cordage at the head end from the bug net, shock cord only at the foot end.

Also curious about the internal ridgeline setup for the Ridgerunner.
@boysattva

@@wideopenthrottl i'm on my 2nd one RR now. what I've recently started doing is running a continuous ridgeline...under...my tarp, and hook the bug net up to that. more vertically which seems to give me more control over the bugnet or spindrift. on the head end im using standard cordage like zingit or glowire while still using the OEM shockcord on the foot end. from d-ring to d-ring inside the bugnet im using glowire with a prussik down by the foot. this allows for enough tension up by the head to keep the phone or tablet off your face, but enough give down by the foot... to not damage the netting...hopefully. seems to be working fine.

I recently switched from a Sony a5100 to a Sony AX100, haven't had a chance to publish anything from the new camera yet.
Would you say Arkansas to Oklahoma is harder, or the other way around?
@SpiguyverBackpacking1

OK to AR is the harder direction.
What size tarp ridgeline is that ? I have the 11ft palace and want to get a bride but I’m concerned I won’t be able to get proper coverage. Can you shorten the dog bone to get the doors almost closed ?
@SpiguyverBackpacking1
4 жыл бұрын
It's the 11'. Unfortunately the doors have to remain open on the 11', on a 12' maybe.
Do you have to do those miles, or can you camp when needed? I’d love to visit the area and the solitude and beauty is a big draw. But I doubt I could do over 10 miles/day at this point.
@SpiguyverBackpacking1

I don't believe there are any set areas that you can't camp. As far as I am aware, you can camp anywhere along the trail. There are lots of areas you can see people have camped in the past.
@dismalhiker

Between mile 0 and 192 you can camp anywhere you want to. However, keep in mind that there are no official campsites... you just need to find a flat spot that's big enough for your tent. This isn't possible in some places because of the slope and rocks. So yes you can camp anywhere, but you have to search for an acceptable campsite sometimes.

John Carroll Thank you, John. Fortunately I usually hang. But I get it. That’s very helpful info. Nothing better than hearing from those who are familiar with the trail.
Hi You did and review on expad downmat 7 a while back and you bought the long version How tall are you,I'm 6ft Has it held up well? Thanks

I don't do a ton of ground camping, as I prefer the hammock. However, it has been great. I am only 5'7" so not pushing the limits, I got that size for the width, the 25" width is awesome.
How are the water sources? I’ve read you need to stash water along the way.

We were a little concerned and so we were carrying quite a bit, but it had been raining in the preceding days, so we ended up carrying too much, there was water everywhere! I mean everywhere!

Danny McCoy Depends on time of year. Winter and spring are usually wet and no water caches are required.

Thanks guys. I’ll have to check it out now. I’ve avoided it due to hearing about the lack of water. Living in north Texas I usually head to the Wichita mountains but I’ll have to change it up and check out the trail.
