Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Can I turn other people's junk in to treasure for my garden? Let's find out! I got a set of cast iron bench ends and a concrete bird bath from my local recycling centre, and in this video, I'm going to attempt to turn them in to something beautiful

I teared up watching you put the memorial plate on Dylan's beautiful bench. What a lovely tribute!
Wonderful. Dylan remembered.
Wonderful tribute to a beloved companion.
Hi Keith, this video had Heather and myself a little teary eyed but it has given us a great idea. We lost our almost 21 year boy a few weeks ago and we are going to build and dedicate a bench to him. Thanks again for all the amazing content you put out. Best wishes from Cape Town, South Africa.

A great memorial to Dylan. I quite miss seeing him in your videos, he was gorgeous.
For the bird bath. If you were to dry brush some white or gray across the red pain it would probably help it look a bit more like red bricks. It looks flat because it is all one color. If you mix red and very very little white together, and brush that as well it could bring some highlights out as well.
OG hat and coast stand massif! What a lovely tribute to Dylan.
A lovely bench for the loveliest of cats, I’ve been watching for many years now - seeing the hat and coat stand wood used on such a special project really made me happy ❤

Thank you very much!
nice work on the bench! No comments on the bird bath 🥲
That bird bath has a VERY high garden gnome vibe! ☺
RIP Dylan. He was the reason for my first click and subscribing to this channel. Now Mickey and the other new cat (sorry, can't recall the name right now) are awesome. Keith's alright too ;)

Thats a very nice bench for Dylan, a lovely tribute
The bench turned out beautifully.
Think the birdbath was very nice. Enjoying your videos. Greetings from Norway
Got to offer praise for the great bench…… but take it away for the bird bath 😂
Bird bath is crying out for gnomes 😂🎉❤

Had an old bench with cast iron bench ends, the holes in the base was for metal banding that formed a triiangle brace and screwed into middle slat, instead of a cross beam. Great looking project.
That is so awesome. I'm sure Dylan would love it.
I saw some Bench ends at the Tip near the Airport a while back. I was given a bench by my Wife's Late Grandmother and turned that into a planter as the slates were gone and I had some Scaffold boards that I was going to use for a counter top on our Bar project, But end up making my own with 4X2 boards from S&M. I made a slate plaque for our Cat when he passed. As I am not that Artist in the way of drawing I made a temple and used my engraving tool to do the engraving, and that sits on top oh his grave in our garden.
In my opinion, the bird bath came out looking gorgeous - as well as the bench btw. Great job on both items and thanks for the effort you put in your projects, the videos and the channel. Keep them coming, please.

Your video about Dylan was the sweetest story of the love for your cat. The bench is lovely.
Lovely piece Keith and as an added bonus the hat and coat stands are back babyeeee 😀
You may find the birds don't like being that close to a garden fence. The cats love to patrol garden fences and jump from them. See how it goes....... Great Job on the bench BTW ;)
I think you did a great job on the birdbath!! And the tribute bench for your cat was outstanding!!!!
Visually dramatic, structurally robust and functionally elegant. Not to mention emotionally meaningful. What a wonderful way to reuse materials.
This got me thinking about making a memorial for my cats. Thanks for the inspiration!
Beautiful Dylan.
Such a lovely project in Dylan’s memory. ❤ And the coat stands get a place of honor.
I saw the video about Dylan. What a lovely little fellow he was. I suddenly twigged it was you then ! Lovely memorial for him.
Lovely tribute to a lovely friend. I know Dylan was more than a cat to you, he was truely a friend.
Love the black fingers 😂😂😂
You will be so glad eventually. It takes a while for the wildlife to get used to it, but when they do, oh wow.
Regarding the bird bath, your meant to just use silicone to attach it to the column.
Loved the tribute to your cat, and I suspect he would have been a lot more interested in your bird bath than you are 😉
Love both these projects!
A man after my own heart, I cannot go past furniture dumped on the side of the road. Love the Bird Bath.
What a lovely tribute to the lovely Dylan.
Nice way to remember Dylon, loved watching him in the video's
I really liked the "I'm not in love with it" part. Made me laugh. Great bench too. Thanks for sharing.
Love the videos of you picking and restoring. That brings me back to what I always loved about your channel.

Other people's trash is your treasure, which makes it a nice friday video treasure for us! It's a win-win-win!! :) Cheers to the weekend!
We are still deciding on a memorial for our fur baby The Tink. 2009-2023. 💔💔💔💔
The holes on the bench aren't for a bottom rail, they are for attaching braces to reduce shear forces. Slot-head screws for the plaque would look much better.
@RagnBoneBrown

But a bottom rail helps with rigidity too
Great bench, nice way to remember Dylan. Not keen on the painted bird bath though, it looks like something you’d see in an old persons garden, was better without the paint 😊
Love the bench - a nice memorial for Dylan! And I do like the bird bath, too - it definitely looks better painted than bare!
So great video, amazing projects thanks
👍👍👍.Thanks
I do like it when you do recycle projects, takes you back to when you first started.
Awww❤ I can’t love this project more. RIP sweet Dylan.
Hi Keith, the bench came out beautiful and Iroko will probably outlast us. Older fans of your channel remember Dylan and he will never be forgotten❤❤❤ We do miss him 😢 Hugs from Croatia

Thanks Andrea
The stringer underneath the bench is often a threaded metal bar, This is tensioned to add rigidity to the bench, takes the 'racking' out. I have seen a piece of cheap stud bar fitted and then covered in a piece of matching timber split, slotted and refixed around the stud for a decorative finish.
Great video!
Thank you
The bench is beautiful tribute in Dylan’s memory.
Lovely memorial bench for Dylan, and a bird bath to bring the feathered friends in for Mickey to watch as well- but you’ll have to move it nearer the Catio Love the eternal hat & coat stand supply getting used again
love a good salvage project 👍
A nice touch , lovely thought for your Dylan, Good job on those bench ends and I like the finish on the slats a very nice looking garden bench and a nice name plate made by Dean from woodworking journey ( I also watch his channel ) I also like what you did to the bird bath look's good in the garden. Great video take care
Nothing but the best for your late fur- baby 🤍
Bench came out great! Not sure on the bird bath since its just moulded concrete maybe try and cast your own design?
Love Dillons bench. Looks really smart. I also really like the bird bath too, just happy you didn’t paint it green! 😉 a great up cycling video.
The bench is beautiful and a fitting tribute to Dylan.
i think for the bird bath if yoy take a brass wire brush and scrub the paint itll make it look a little more weathered
Keith, you've crafted a beautiful tribute to Dylan. 🥲 I'd be proud to have half the skill you've developed.
The bench looks brilliant, you'd pay north of £100 for one like that in a Garden Center.
Did you ever figure out what the dusty wood was? I salvaged a table and think it's the same stuff, the most insane dust comes off when sanding, leaves red powder everywhere in the shop.
Problem…..that birdbath’s gunna attract gnomes ! !
Great bird bath but a beautiful tribute to Dylan in making the bench. I have wood that I really value and use it sparingly - some of which I used for a friend and some for our own sadly lost 16 year old cat Mitzi.
Loved the Dylan bench ❤❤❤❤❤ You could try to give a weathered look to the bird fountain, some brownish wash, like model makers do

@@RagnBoneBrown natural weathering is free! :D
That'll give the birds somewhere to post their letters!
I feel like the slab below is responsible for the "not in love with it" feeling? It looks kind of industrial or utilitarian, where the bird bath itself has a much more artistic look to it. Maybe think about a slightly fancier base for it, something like pebbles/river rocks?
Hi Keith. You've got Teak not Iroko. Very nice. Expensive nowadays..... Tony
Hi mate I have already done a bench just the same as the one like that and what a jigsaw it was but i did eventually get it done when i cut the slats ,they could've done with being a couple of inches longer but it works and looks good. And i do have another one and I'll take a leaf out of your book and copy the way you did and make thicker slats for the bum place's many thanks Keith 😂❤
Absolutely adore the bench as a memory to Dylan and you made a wonderful job of it. I quite like the bird bath to be honest. Have never understood why they dont make the top and bottoms more matchable , so your solution is a great workaround.
Both pieces turned out pretty cool. Nice work! Thanks for sharing 😃
Beautiful bench and what a bargain to get those lovely cast iron ends for £10. Dylan looked a cutie!
Been there, fine the bench.Honestly,if using quality timber, and bolts, finnish etc, the cost is considerably more then buying a new bench, though, the quality of the renovated bench, might be better.
Fantastic bench Keith and a nice touch with the plaque for Dylan, well done Dean!
What a beautiful bench project 😢 awesome to see the hat and coat wood again that stuff is legendary! Hope you're all keeping well
Hello Keith, two inspiring projects, thank you. I’ve seen old iron gate ends in our local reclamation yard and day-dreamed about making a bench, so it was great to watch you actually do it and produce the lovely tribute to Dylan. Also the tip for securing the top of a concrete bird Bath. I’ve got my dear old gran’s bird bath and the top sits precariously on the top - I’ve added the job of fixing that to my DIY list! Thanks again for great, practical and informative videos.
Nice touch. RIP Dylan ...pets are sometimes more faithful than a lot of humans ! Bird bath looks good to me. thks.
Beautiful tribute Keith Never thought I'd see the day you'd paint OVER green 😊

🤣 me neither!
Its definitely one of the most artistic projects you've done. I like it!
Delighted that Dillon gets to keep a hat and coat stand. They were getting under his feet for years 😂
Nice work on the bench Keith, a fitting tribute to an old friend ! Was I the only person who let out a little cheer when you reached for the coat stand, we haven't seen one of those for a while now ! Interesting that it was the timber in the coat stand that set you off, I have found Iroko to be a real problem allergy wise, I now have to wet sand our patio set before re-oiling to avoid dust allergies causing severe skin irritation.
Very excited to see the hat and coat stands again! I think a bit of weathering will work wonders for the bird bath. Give it time
10:38 I think you're missing a fishing gnome there, that'd make it complete...
How nice to do that in memory of your special cat. We always do something like that for our animals that have passed on. Love your content !
Great old school Keith video 😊 loved the bench for Dylan, we actually bought some bench ends from our local tip shop the other week for Jakob to make a video. The bird bath looked like a nice fun project and I'm sure the colours will settle down and blend nicely over time. Top work mate as always.

Sorry to learn about Dylan, never easy losing a family pet. That is a lovely bench for him.
Smashing looking bench although I think I would have glued the plaque on as don’t like the look of the screw heads… the bird bath needs to go back to recycling 😂
Lovely bench, FYI WD40 is a great cutting fluid for brass (tip from blondihacks)
Good job on the bird bath as well as on the bench. I grimaced when you said that you were going to paint the bird bath, but you were right. It looks great. Thanks for the video.
Been thinking about restoring a similar bench, but here in the Netherlands you can find those cast iron bench ends second hand, but they cost ( a lot) more than the tenner you paid! Dean is a fantastic guy, ever since you suggested his channel I've been subbed, love his videos and he has a great sense of humor!
Did a very similar bench restoration recently on my own as well. I know all of those feelings and pain points you went through!
Great job. I’ve done a few of those benches. The ones with the decorative backs are very tricky. There’s a 10° angle where the wood meets the iron. Takes a lot of figuring out! Anyway, sorry to hear about your cat. Love the channel, all the best
Nice bench and a lovely idea Keith.
Paint the mortar lines white on the bird bath, I think it will look more like how you expected. The current red & black paint is a highly saturated colour the grey is dull so it just looks in-consistent. Painting the mortar will even things out. The other option that might work would be to weather the red and try to make the black less… black somehow.
