I use the Coulee in the winter because it does a good job carrying snowshoes.

There's a hydration "bag" and bladder company called MAZAMA (a USA company) that has designed water bladders and delivery systems to fit MANY brands and styles of backpacks and even waist packs. And unlike MANY of the bladders that COME with packs, they don't stink NOR do they impart that nasty "plastic" taste to the water, even after hours of water storage. The tube systems are well-made, and the bite valve end seems to be pretty intuitive and secure. Their prices are comparable to other brands, better than some. I'm not in any way affiliated with them, and don't know anyone that is, but I'd been on a long search for hydration bladders that didn't make the water too nasty to drink from the moment they're filled, and was THRILLED to find them, and replace the NASTY smelling and tasting bladders that came with my bags. :D As far as the packs you two reviewed, thanks for highlighting the "best uses" for each, as what's "best" for one person's situation may not be "best" for another! :D Yes, it's AWESOME to see Christie (or however you spell her name.. sorry! :D) and get HER opinions on gear for her build, and women in general! :D

Having trouble deciding between Coulee 20/30 vs Osprey Stratos 24... 6'2" Male XXL. No interest in hydration bladder. Any thoughts?

Isn't the sirus 24 the same size as the juno 24? I'm excited to receive mine. I got mine for $112.

I love the osprey quick disco and the slide open top. But they do need to switch to a push pull valve. Also the magnet has to go. Throws off your brunton compass. I feel like osprey dug themselves a hole with the lifetime warranties. They are trying to come up with new bells and whistles all day because no one wants to throw out the old stuff especially with their warranty

Less hydration bladders and more adaptive gear to change a plain bottle to a hydration bottle.

The coulee bladder attachment has a toggle that won't fit through a lot of the hydration bladder slots.

I'm guessing it's the same as my MR terraplane. Leave the toggle up high on the loop. Thread the loop through the slot on the bladder. From the back to the front. Then pull the loop up, and thread the toggle though it. Also from the back to the front of the loop. The loop will be over the top of, and behind the toggle. And, it will just hang there.

@CarbonRich796 well darn I never thought to do it that way. Now it makes sense!

The load lifters are useless on the first three packs since they sit below your shoulder. I think companies throw them on just to add to the aesthetic.

Kristi, I'll go on that girl's trip with you and bring a bottle of mead made with honey from my apiary! I actually do often bring a bottle of wine to share when reaching a summit with a nice view 🩷
