I regret selling my PS2 back in 2008. It was in perfect condition and very clean. The build in DVD Player was "the" latest and greatest. Kids don't understand today, how freaking cool it was, back then to have a DVD Player. And the coolest thing was to invite your best Friends and play some couch coop games and watch some DVD Movies. The best part of the 6th gen consoles is, each one was unique and special. What a magical time...

The red menu is scary, it was intense as a kid hoping I would never see it.

In 2021 I started to gather childhood memories by buying a PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 console alongside the games I used to play with my best friend. Now I've got almost every game that I used to play or remeber from early 2000s. We also experience those memories time to time by playing those games. Thanks for the video.

The PS2 Slim, original Xbox, Gamecube, and N64 are the only consoles I own/play. And I invested in mint condition ones. The games were just better, better stories, better experience, more challenging. And just different. I have a nice PC for when I want to play a modern title, but that is not often. Currently playing through Resident Evil Outbreak on PS2. I just cannot get over how great these old games were. I hope there is a comeback for these consoles and many of us try our best to preserve them and the games. If I ever have kids one day, these will be the only consoles and games I introduce them to.

the RE Outbreak games were some of the best looking for their generation, its crazy. closer to a lower ps3 quality if you ask me.

The options with the disk speed are for playing ps1 games you can load them faster and smooth out textures

Yeah I cleaned all my PlayStation consoles and repasted my PS3 and PS4. They deserve the maintenance.

Still got my original PS2 from when it came out I play a lot of vertical shooters steel dragon is a favourite I played a lot of boulders gate on it back in the day ghost hunter was great as well

I had the original PS. So it took me a long time to move on to PS2 (you know how some parents are). Finally got a Slim when I left school and was working. Life moves on, I moved away. Recently found my Slim. I'm about to resurrect it very soon. Hopefully it still works properly. When I tried to dust it off a few years ago the disc was not spinning. It seems to be now 🤷🏾‍♂️. Just have to get one of those HDMI adapters and hopefully my 2021 Panasonic TV can do enough upscaling and other processing to salvage the early 00s graphics.

I sold my it in 2008 and got it in 2022 again. I am very happy to have it again.

The Stunning ps2 what a leap from the ps1...I still have my launch model and the slim versions. My original still works perfectly, now I use a hdmi adapter...

I didn't even know the ps2 had all those settings allowing you change the drive speed & textures 😮. Dunno how much difference that makes

Nice video! I have a 39000 series model and a 30000 series model however that one has a damaged disc laser. I am looking to fix it since the working one is very dusty inside & noisy but I love my PS2!

I came out pf Video game retirement after taking a 2 year break. I have 3 boys and we have quite a few consoles and a Gaming PC’. I mostly Watch them play games. I decides to bring out my PS2 out of retirement. I took it apart to clean the CD-ROM player. Still having trouble loading a few games. May sure to get a Retofighter wireless controller. Work great with the PS2, PC’s, Nintendo switch and emulator boxes. I just ordered a PS2 2TB HDD. Planning on loading up PS1 and PS2 games. That way I can preserve my disc library. One pf my boys plays the Electric Guitar and has never played any GH games. I have repaired the Kramer but GH2 has some serious issues with glitches, music sync and some song just won’t play. My GH3 won’t load anything. Im hoping the HDD will help and allow us to have some family fun.

That’s awesome to hear. I plan to get this one cleaned up, put a Hard drive in maybe and change the fan. Plus some general cleaning inside also. Yeah I found a couple used GH3 kramers online but they’re all terrible condition, (rusted battery bays etc) so I’m yet to find a bundle for the PS2.

As a child my grandparents had a PS2, for some reason. My grandparents lived far away and this was "no internet access"-life so getting to play this kinda amazing/scary/limitless seeming console I knew nothing about was really magical. Now I can buy my own things but am adult enough to not be able to enjoy games anymore really so fuck me then but anyways I love this thing

PS2 have been going up in price especially the fat ps2. I have a day one original fat ps2, i was 20 when the PS2 launched I also got the xbox with dead or alive 3 and Halo. You know you can use a PS3 component cables which is 1080P. I got the bouncer and ATV offroad fury and FFX a little later.

Compoment only goes up to 1080i in a handfull of games for your information. 95% of the library relies on 480i, 480p if you're lucky.

@@silverwahyou can use GSM to upscale to 1080i 480p 720p. Makes a big difference and works in all of my games. Composite is the worst way to play the ps2 as 480i makes the graphics terrible. Component cables with GSM is like seeing for the first time again. It is just that good.

The PS2 is one of my all time favorite consoles along with the Wii, I really love playing games like Resident Evil 4, Darkwatch, God of War 1 and 2, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy X, Soul Calibur 2 and 3, and more

RE4 was a beast of a game! Loved it. I loved Manhunt 1 & 2, PacMan world, Silent Hill 2, Bully, and Starwars Battlefront the best. I bet between those titles I have over 1,000 hours logged haha.

Yeah soul calibur 2 was amazing to me personally my love was definitely for all the old Naruto and dragon ball z games in the ps2 also the old 2ks and the street ones also many more honestly

It took me 15 years to finish Driver 2. Crash Bandicoot 3 was never finished, at least until the N Sane Trilogy released. Finished the trilogy to over 100% and got the platinum for Warped. Time trials prevent me getting the platinum for Crash 2 and 3

Local multiplayer/party games are not entirely gone though. Yeah they're perhaps not as common as they once were but the Nintendo Switch still supports several such games. As for your questions at the end, I also played a PS2 during that era. I had a PS1 actually for a while first, then got the PS2 a couple years later. Some of the games I played the most at the time were Digimon games like Digimon World and Rumble Arena, Gex and Sly Cooper. And for other consoles I mainly played GBA for handheld gaming and I also played Windows PC games. Sometimes I would play N64 or GameCube with my siblings/friends who had those, but not very often.

Games looked better on PS2 back in the day thanks to how CRT screens presented the visuals. I'd love to get a CRT again but it's just impractical for many reasons.

"we had to wait for our games back in the day", nowhere near as much as we do now, just trying to get a quick 10 mins of gaming in can be impossible now sometimes with modern consoles, thanks to updates/DLC/downloads and goodness know what else. I miss being able to fire a game up in seconds on the GC/XB/DC/N64/Etc, sure the PS2 had a bit of loading time for some games, but no more than 30-45 seconds, the Xbox OG had quicker load times and the GameCube had almost instant load speeds. I remember sometimes waiting quite a bit on PC though, for the game to install, or it might've had a patch to install and DL, that was the biggest pro/advantage with consoles over PC gaming back in the day, now PC games are actually quicker to boot and DL than their console counterparts lol.

i still have one mine has the fmcb AND CAN RUN ISOS OFF OF FAT DRIVE OR VIA CAT34 CABLE AND THE PS2 REDDIT HATES IT xD there are actually a few games that run better( because of how much they did) via an smb connection with pc tho.... just need to get modded memory card xD

I have been playing my PS2 a lot lately because I hate modern games. Fatal Frame and Silent Hill games are awesome. I think I need to get myself an old CRT television because it is not the same playing on an HDTV.

PlayStation 2, Dreamcast, GameCube and Xbox. What a great generation of consoles. Personally, the PS2 was my least favourite out of the 4, I felt it had an unfair advantage at the begining due to it riding on the success of the PSOne and it's DVD support, and it contributed to the Dreamcast's downfall which were releasing some amazing gaming experiences in its 2 short years on the market. My opinion is not to take away the fact that eventually it was home to some amazing titles despite it's limited performance compared to its competition. Ridge Racer V, MGS2 & 3, GTA 3, Gran Turismo 4, Ratchet and Clank etc were amazing games. All 4 consoles were great.

It’s 2023 and games still take forever to load

i upload some ps2 games on my channel soon i do few ps2 games i get more views for retro games than i do modern games for some reason . i grew up wit hthe ps2 in 2001 it was my first console i got on my birthday next too my ps1 i got in 1995 . also i emulate ps1 ps2 ps3 psp ps vita 3ds ds wii wii u gamcube and gameboy and advance cause these consoles are hard too find the hardware dying . emulation plays it better . i prefer emulation than spending 100 plus on one hard copy of a disc ps2 game nope .

All of them should. Older models such as 30000 and 35000 models had more issues.

I never owned the original PS1 or PS2. I entered Sony's game consoles with PS2 Slim

Get some serious equipment retrotink, framemeister, ossc etc....

CEX should not of graded that as unboxed it has clear marks on it unboxed should be in good condition with out the box discounted is working console but has cosmetic scratches and marks but as always CEX show the cowboys that they are

I sadly had 2 PS3 backwards compatible consoles that died on me so I ended up selling them for parts. I was planning on doing a video on it when I launched the channel but now they’re gone, I may never do one. Depends if I buy another!
