    Thank you Holly for that review and comparison. Particularly with the sound. Bought a IO8 yesterday. Wasn't sure whether it would be the right one, but after using it for the last day, I can COMFORTABLY say it it was the right purchase. This toothbrush is MILES better than all the other one's. Particularly the Genius AI which I had previously, which died on me last week. Oh and don't worry, you are DEFINITELY not the only one that got excited about this toothbrush. I did as soon as I bought it too, so don't worry.

    Hi Louis! With most dental hygiene products, the companies offer us a “cheaper” boxed version of the product that we can purchase at a much reduced price that doesn't contain some bells and whistles that the product for consumers will have. I understand why they do this (so some dental professionals don't start reselling them for their own profit), but also keeps their cost down, and they can get more dental professionals using their products, so we can recommend them. Love that you're team water after toothpaste! Same as me! :) Have a great day, Holly :)

    I have the 7 series and that one comes with a travel case that cannot charge. I used to use the Pro 2 series and must say that I experience a difference. The result is very clean teeth. Much more than the Pro 2. I like the quick charging and being able to see the battery level. That was always the issue with the Pro.

    Hey Dave 😊 hope you love it! I recommend using the soft brushes all the time, the soft bristles contour and bed around the teeth and gums better and will prevent erosion of the teeth and gums vs a hard brush. The philips sonicare is similar technology, but I like the action and size of the oral b. I think the iO is a the best of both worlds! Enjoy the brush!

    I have severe gum recession in some of my teeth due to overzealous brushing when I received orthodontic treatment in the past and because of it, I need to see a periodontist for a gum graft but until I can get to a periodontist, I’d like to know if I need to brush the exposed roots of my teeth? Do the exposed roots need to be brushed?

  • @mytoothbetold

    @mytoothbetold

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi Angely :) I am sorry to hear about your gum recession, it really can be hard to manage. Brushing along the gum line is extremely important to help prevent even more recession and gum disease :) You will want to angle the bristles of your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle toward the gum line. I have included a link to my blog where I wrote a post that may help you. The Correct Way to Use an Oral-B Electric Toothbrush - www.mytoothbetold.com/the-correct-way-to-use-an-oral-b-electric-toothbrush/ The roots of our teeth are much softer than the crown of our teeth which is covered by hard enamel. This makes the roots more susceptible to decay and wearing away. Be sure to always use an extra soft toothbrush, and stay away from whitening toothpaste (they don't actually whiten your teeth, they are just abrasive to get rid of surface stain). I hope I have been able to answer your question and good luck with your periodontist appointments :) Have a great day! Holly

    Thank you, Andy, for the kind comment! 😊 I do find that some of the older models of electric toothbrushes can be quite loud. After I made this video, I found out that the Oral-B iO is silent and makes no noise, but they had to add the noise when they manufactured it so people would know it was on! I think that would help the visually impaired, such as yourself. To be honest, I have never fully used the app. I think it is a little gimmicky, but they put the function in because they can, and there are people who like it. • @mytoothbetold

    @mytoothbetold

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Mentos93! Thanks for the comment, and I am sorry for the late response, I have been on summer holidays. I understand how you feel and if you are not used to pressing the optimal amount on the teeth with the brush, it can seem excessive when trying to achieve the optimal pressure. I want to assure you that so much research and studies have gone into assessing the optimal pressure for toothbrushing, and that the pressure is safe while the green light is showing. When we do not put enough pressure on the teeth with the toothbrush, we don't clear away enough of the plaque (bacteria and food debris), which can contribute to inflammation in the gum tissue. When gum inflammation becomes chronic, it can contribute to gum disease, and the gum tissue can begin to recede. If you are still worried about pressing too hard and gum recession, try using the extra/ultra soft toothbrush heads! I hope this information has helped you and let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Thanks again for your patience for my response! Have a great day! Holly :)

    Love the review. Looks the new oral b sounds similar to the sonicare, similar technology?

  • @mytoothbetold

    Thanks so much for the kind words! It is similar technology to the Sonicare electric toothbrush, but vastly different (and better in my professional opinion). The reason why sonic technology is effective is that it uses vibration and sound waves to disrupt the plaque on the teeth without the bristles actually coming into contact with the plaque. iO is clinically proven to remove ~48% more plaque along the gumline vs. Sonicare DiamondClean. The iO uses a Linear Magnetic Drive System and still provides the rotation, oscillation and pulsation movement of the brush head which gives it a superior clean over the Sonicare. I love the round head because it can better contour around and in-between the teeth. I also want to add that I am not paid, or swayed in any way that will benefit me. My opinion is based on years in the dental field and hours and hours of doing research. I just want to provide my knowledge in order to help people make an unbiased health decision that isn't driven by intelligent marketing strategies. I want everyone to have the healthiest mouth possible! I hope you have a great day!

  • @mytoothbetold

    Thank you :) Great question! 4 months on, I am still LOVING it! And I still highly recommend getting one or at least getting an electric Oral-B toothbrush with a pressure sensor. I don't use the mobile app, I never have with any of the previous models. But I think the mobile app functions can be helpful to a lot of people. The bottom of the toothbrush is SOOO much easier to clean than the previous models and the Sonicare electric brushes. I think the battery life is a huge bonus, so travelling with it will be lovely (when we are allowed to travel again). Have a great day :) Holly

    I would choose the Oral-B. I wrote a post all about the comparison of both companies. here is the link www.mytoothbetold.com/hygienist-compares-sonicare-vs-oral-b-electric-toothbrushes/ I like how small the brush head is, and the studies show that the Oral-B is more effective in plaque control over the Sonicare.

    @@mytoothbetold Thank you for the advice. How about dirt accumulation in Oral-B design with hollow replacement heads? I saw some complains about that. Is it a big deal?

  • @mytoothbetold

    @mytoothbetold

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@SajadVafa I do agree with the complaints, it is more likely to gather dirt because of the holes, however, I take my brush head apart and clean it often so for me, I don't find it an issue at all. As well, if the brush heads are changed at the recommended 3-4 months, I find that with frequent cleaning they can stay clean.
