The Hasbro TF toy line is dieing. They keep giving us crap like one steps, energon igniters, stuff like that.

The size might have gone down, but the engineering is very much up there with the best transforming toys.

Well the battle blades one is pretty good in my opinion. That one gets most things right and a little wrong. But that's true with this one too. Most stuff right and a little wrong.

optibotimus i had the battle blades it was great but since it was a downsize (sort of) version of leader class ROTF optimus, some transformation part are carried into it although its not as annoying as the leader here the transformation is like that of first edition optimus prime from transformers prime

optibotimus well, you know battle blade is awesome but for a kids toy that was pretty horrible because he was so hard to transform and his knee bent sideways. I didn't like the toy back then as much as I do now.

I thought the figure was fine the way it is. The only problem is the backpack and the lack of paint. The other thing is that the ksi drones including galvatron transformed like a lego set. Can't do much better for the transformation than the way it was originally designed.

I bought him 2 weeks ago. And I love this figure big time! Thanks Paul for the review. It helped me with the transformation from robot to truck mode 😃👍🏻

The color scheme reminds me of 1st movie video game. I also believe he held his battle blades in hand in Dark of the Moon when Shockwave arrived

There’s a weed eater going off in the background 😂

I'll tell one thing, he's way easier to transform than the ROTF Leader class Prime! I dislike the dark red and grey, way too dark, but in all, pretty cool figure. And there seems to be many more on the way in the Studio Series, like Starscream and Blackout, can't wait to see those reviews as well!

I like it that dark too be honest. I thought I'll never be hyped for this figure but I saw some in malls earlier. Next time I'll get there I'll buy one. It really looks good in person. Good to have it since I already have SS Megatron 3weeks ago...

Rewatching this review as I prepare to buy the Premium Finish version. Yeah the chest still looks funky, but the new paint job alone somehow makes it better then SS-32

Love this figure!!! In fact, I ACCIDENTALLY got this and could not transform it as mine snapped and this has been a huge help. I have 2 versions of KZread and only have subscribed on the original but will definitely subscribe on the other!

I really do like the look of this figure and I am glad they used the back drop as a separate peace because it makes it so much easier especially if your one of those people that want to keep track of the numbers of the figures and the boxes but I can’t wait to get blackout he will be my next pick up after this one

Sorry Optibotimus, but I think you forgot to mention that his face is interchangeable into "without mouth plate" and "with mouth plate", done by pulling upward and rotating it

I think the chest and the arms transformations kinda resembles the tfp optimus voyager figure

I think I developed a tumour trying to transform this...

Imagine how big the truck would be if they went off the vehicle size for comparison.

I cannot believe this video was posted near 2 years ago, and I just found this figure at Wal-Mart today.

I was planning on skipping Prime because his colors being too dark but his transformation is interesting enough to make me consider buying.

RIP grindor, which Optimus killed, I feel he looked a lot like blackout, also i fell he deserved more screen time

I want to see a studio series Sentinel Prime. I hope they give him his cosmic rust gun, along with shield and sword.

Always thought this figure looked like the transformers prime first edition voyager Optimus. The arms, chest and majority are all similar and the legs are like evasion OP from age of extinction. It’s like a mix and match of some of the best voyager primes. Clever use of previous engineering

I wouldn't mind a KO oversized version of this optimus prime with a much better paint job like M-01 Optimus prime and also we need more masterpiece Megatrons, too many KO and official Optimus primes on the markets now and very few Megatrons, especially because the leader Megatrons for the movies completely suck.

optibotimus You missed the point, if you go deeper into it you will know that there are too many "just" oversized Optimus primes and with the same paintjobs as the official figures, I also gave the example of Wei jang M-01 Optimus prime which is not just an oversized version of the official version, it has better paint job, accessories and has much more details. Sadly there are very few figures like this. In short, If it's good enough(like M-01) then I will like it but if it's just an "oversized" ko version of the official one then I wouldn't even care for it.

I have had this optimus for a while.. it doesn't have to be as movie accurate as it should.. but the transformation is fun and the blades are awesome and at least his robot looks similar to movies 1 and 2.. Truck mode is cool too

What about the Hunt For The Deceptions Battle Blades Prime? Always felt that one was perfect

I think the dark grey comes from all the damage he had while fighting in the forest. It was the forest scene after all. He wasn't exactly looking the shiniest at the end of that scene. I could be wrong tho

He's a good toy but he's a little short that's why I think battle blades is a bit better maybe, not to mention it's basically a scaled down version of the amazing leader class optimus prime

sharon cunningham Ya the weird chest and circumcised smokestakes really ruin this figure for me. I’m hoping that I will be able to find that B.B. Optimus Prime for a modest price once everyone starts to switch to this one. Better accessories, better colors and a slightly better size makes the B.B. Optimus better IMO. The only pro I see on this one is the better articulation.

Takara tomy has great designers but every Opimus toy has a huge weird backpack. I used to think it was designers' fault that they didn't find enough space to fit those backpack in but now I believe having a backpack is sort of a tradition of Hasbro.

I had the leader class which was good in the robot mode but Transformation was a pan and everything just kept falling apart to the point stuff broke (and I followed the instructions) but at least I get another chance to get this version of Optimus because were I live it's was very hard to find certain Optimus Prime figures especially the movie I'm glad I found The Last Knight voyager which I l❤ve definitely gonna try getting this one. Overall I'm L❤vin what I'm seeing

So, this is confusing for me- I recently ordered an Voyager class optimus prime with swords, and the front of the box has sand on it n' stuff, and it looks like this one, and this one is a re release so this is why it has different packaging i'm assuming? It's confusing.

Its worth buying thanks for making this but maybe it needs some customizing needs more color

is there a way to get only the swords because i own the 2007 studio series prime figure and i dont want to buy this figure just for the swords, and i checked google and everywhere and No one sells only the swords

I always liked the 1-3/Evasion mode Optimus robot mode better than AOE/TLK Optimus Prime robot mode. Not that the Knight Optimus Prime doesn’t look awesome, but I feel like it feels more like Optimus Prime. The truck parts on it make sense, but the Age of Extinction design is kind of starting to grow on me,.

Omg. One section. One darn section drove me insane. An hour later after after about 1000 rewinds. I finally saw what I missed and finally transformed him to truck mode. Omg. I was so close to slamming this figure. So close. Great review but I missed a part and I regret it. I made it to the end. If you sell ROTF OPTIMUS LEADER CLASS. I'll take it.

Don’t. It’s crap

I think your review sold me on him, while I was previously apprehensive. I know it’s not accurate, but I quite like the darker alternative to the colouring. I agree with you about that black piece between the windshield, though. Not my favourite either. I think that could’ve been executed a little better. Regarding LT-02, it really does make the Hasbro/Takara MPM-04 look like the knock off. The extra paint is beautiful. I got the Takara version, and I would’ve held off had I known LT-02 was coming. Though if you’re not aware yet, apparently their first run has had some QC issues, so maybe wait a bit before you decide to pull the trigger.
