Live at the Royal Albert Hall is a great concert. They played the whole Blackwater Park album first and then one song of each other album up until Watershed. The Moor or Harlequin Forest would be good picks for you. But even though they started adding a keyboard to their songs at this point already, Keyboard Guy unfortunately had not joined the band at this point, so no bonus points there I guess.

You should definitly check out Opeth- Face of Melinda. It's from the same album

Keyboard guy 1(Per Wilberg) came in during the touring cycle for their sixth + seventh studio album on the damnation/deliverance tour. This is their fourth album, so he's not here yet :( Per Wilberg left the band in 2011, and was replaced by the keyboard guy (Joakim Svalberg) you saw in the live video. Even though there was no keyboard in their earlier albums, Per/Joakim always adds some during their live shows, and it usually fits the song perfectly!

Really glad you enjoyed! Mikael's guitar playing on this track, both acoustic and electric, is simply amazing.

The entire album, Still Life, is amazing. You need to listen to it straight through. Personally my favorite Opeth album.

I think you should react to drapery falls live at shepherd's bush empire,london. I think it's the best live version of this song

This was soothing Mikael. And yes they are multi talented. Next The Lotus Eater? In that song Opeth combines all their talents and skills. From a very soft humming Mikael to the fastest beat Axe ever did on drums with awesome cleans and awesome growls. A very distinguished playing keyboardguy after the most beautiful breakdown you've ever heard. A must hear. Also live available. Live at the Royal Albert Hall. Once again: The Lotus Eater. Agreed! In my view, their Crack the Skye album is one of the best prog metal albums out there. There's nothing wrong with starting at the songs you mentioned, but since Lauren likes the long songs that take you on a journey I am fairly positive that she would love The Czar and The Last Baron and I would almost recommend her to start right there.

Still Life is album #4, and it's regarded as one of their greatest, if not the greatest of their albums. It's my #2, with My Arms Your Hearse being my personal favorite album. But from their 1st album Orchid it was painfully obvious that they were going to make some of the best music ever made, light or heavy, their talent and musicianship it's the best. I'm glad you enjoyed this, it's a monster album, I'd still like you to go 1 album earlier, but I'm sure you'll get there. Thank you.

My Arms Your Hearse slowly kept making its way up to my number one album. I didn't like it the first visit and it has aged better than a fine wine.

I used to use this song as a lullaby to put my kid to sleep.

still life is amazing early opeth is perfect extreme metal for this time of year being winter i have seen and met mikael akerfeldt live at royal albert hall 12 years ago in london england on the last part of the watershed world and european tour i have the original pressing of blackwater park on cd the original pressing of deliverance on cd the original pressing of damnation on cd the roundhouse tapes live dvd and two cd set i have been a huge fan of early opeth since i was year old 21 years ago now since 2001 because of my dad getting me into early opeth at a very young age i still listen to early extreme metal except for damnation but early extreme metal opeth at 21 years old now in my adult life and 21 years heavy metal music journey if you know what i mean music cats and coffee react to demon of the fall from the roundhouse tapes this month please not pushing you but would love to see you do a reaction of it
