Nidaros Cathedral(Nidarosdomen) is a cathedral of the Church of Norway located in the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county. It was built over a 230-year period, from 1070 to 1300 when it was substantially completed. It is built over the burial site of King Olav II, who became the patron saint of the nation, and is the traditional location for the consecration of new kings of Norway

This is so great. A real professional reacting to Aurora. Aurora is quite something. She never hides behind production. She is very honest. Almost like a folk singer. Her poetry is, I think, wonderful. And, to think that this girl does pretty much everything herself. Writing, music, arrangement, coreography. She is just wonderful. She is quite young in this concert and you can hear (or at leas I can hear) she is not quite "there" in terms of control. Aurora at this point, still had the tendency to forget to breath at certain parts, or get a bit nasal (not so much in this song though) at her Aaahaas! But, she is a true professional, and she overcome. There is a reason that Disney (not my fav company, but still) hired her to sing the spirit wind in Frozen 2. Aurora is not just singing a song. She tells a story. Her voice, I think, is one of the most beautiful sound I have ever heard on this planet. Thank you. Edit: Oh, and thumbs up.

Very good performance, but prefer the stripped down version from "the current", where she harmonizing with Silja Sol, who joined the band after this. Bonechilling and a better vocalperformance IMO! Fantastic live artist which i got the chance to see 2015.

  • @Abbadonhades

Yes, I completely agree. I think "The current" version is a peak performance vocally, while this one is a bit flawed. I'm not saying that flawed vocals can't be beautiful, because they surely can. But I always want people to react to Auroras best vocal performances, because I want them to see what she can really do as an artist and as a performer. My secret fear is that she might be straining her voice too much sometimes, and that the quality of her singing in her early output of songs, will not be replicated. That said Aurora does seem to be in control both of the musical direction of her records, as well as the use of her voice, and although a change in her voice might be on the horizon, we can possibly expect an even fuller and richer tone from Aurora.

I prefer this version by far. It becomes bigger than itself, and I can get that sensory experience I wouldn't otherwise. For me, it's about "living" the song, or connecting, not about some talent show type kind of thing... Maybe we just like it for different reasons but it's still great to see other people like her music.

Regarding pitch: Aurora say in intervjues that pitch perfect is not a priority. The "feel" has to match the message. In this preformance she eaven breakes, my guess is the emotions in the song. She has told that she gets so emotional that she cries on stage sometimes....

When you mentioned the stone breaking into pieces, being strong lyrically, I had the image of the stone being a meteor blasting into the earth causing destruction a metaphor perhaps about how we can be self-destructive in our relationships and the harm that does to the innocent? If you are interested search up Aurora live at KEXP - Bjørk was in the audience for those (recorded at Iceland). And yes, Aurora does overlap a little with early Bjørk. The Kexp sessions comes with a bit more inherent energy compared to the absolutely astonishing Nidarosdomen concert where she rearranged her material for "national cathedral". She is a very interesting artist avoiding musical radars. And she is actually really really funny - and extremely clever.

This is one of my favorite songs of hers, but in my opinion, although it is an amazingly beautiful rendition, I don't feel it is one of the best ! This concert was done early in her career and she has since greatly refined the way she performs it! The Live KEXP performance although not orchestrated has much better vocal inflection, phrasing and delivery. Coupled with background singer Silja Sol's amazing vocal accompaniment this makes the KEXP version my favorite. I also like the Bergen performance of 2020. Curious to hear your opinion. Thanks for your wonderful reaction. All of Aurora's creations are Incredible and will most definitely make you a die hard fan! Enjoy!

Be sure to listen to this song when she does it without the orchestra. It's a different vibe altogether. To me it interprets as domestic violence and possibly even murder. She sings like it was a fight she doesn't remember well. The reference to the red ground and her body laying in the meadow with flowers. Later, bleeding in a bed and agin red dirt. A haunting song, a dark song possibly told by the spirit of the diseased person. Coming back from the shadows?

Maggie thinks it's very funny. In fact she reacted to it last christmas time. And it has recently made an appearance during her twitch live streams (Specifically during some hype trains.) We have a lot of fun with that!

!!! If you aren't familiar with baroque pop, you HAVE to check out Ali Project. I don't think you'll be able to do reactions unfortunately, but you can find some uploads on youtube just to see for yourself. All of their stuff is incredible, but I would recommend starting maybe with the videos for God Diva, Himiko Gaiden, Le sang et le miel, Jigokuno Mon, and Royal Academy of Gothic Lolita

This is not her most technically great version of this song. She does another live in studio version with just a back up singer and a guitar which is absolutely stunning. That shows a more polished version of this song. This concert was earlier in Auroras career and her some of her stylistic choices have definitely matured, though the concert is still absolutely stunning.

I’m just a tiny bit bummed that this was the version you reacted to…there is a version where she is live in a radio studio with just a second formidable vocalist who is also playing guitar. It’s unreal.

Aurora is so special, and has a voice with a lot of emotions. She’s self taught in both singing and playing piano, and that’s perfect, cause she wouldn’t have those amazing performances otherwise. I’m sorry, but I don’t hear the similarity between her and Ellie Goulding. I like Goulding, but she’s far from Aurora, in my opinion 👍 With Aurora it’s very important to listen to her lyrics. When Aurora performs, she’s so into it, like in a transe. And after for example a concert, she gets breathing problems, like a panick attack. She’s so out of it, because she has given her soul while performing. She is a musical genius, she writes her own music and she produces it too. She gets help from others, but she’ll rather do it herself.

It says you’re an opera singer ? Yet Aurora is a unique one-of-a-kind singer who can never be imitated. I laughed as you tried to imitate her during this video. In my opinion Aurora 💕💫 is the most beautiful female singing voice I’ve ever heard. 🎤🎶 I know opera, too (Callas, Caruso , Verdi, Pavarotti, etc) Portland Oregon USA 🇺🇸
