Since, you're new, she is, in fact immortal and is the leader of the fae. She's Norwegian, so that's a reason you're getting those vibes. Her voice carries your broken hearts through the wind and then sinks them into moss where they can grow back healed and whole.

You should REALLY listen to her live version at Nidorasdomen, an ancient church, where she just BELTS this song with full orchestral and choral backing... Just to see the difference. This one is so intimate and delicate, and the Nidorasdomen one is so very different and energetic yet still so great. Highly recommended. I think seeing the reaction to the difference between 2 separate performances and environments would be fun to see. You won't be disappointed.

She does a version of a song with Wardruna called Helvegen that is another episode of otherworldly, especially against Einar’s solid wall sound. You’re mentioning how she might mesh with another vocalist who has a harder sound, and her presence on that version of Helvegen is a good example. Worth a look some day, Julia.

To really understand aurora you have to look at her childhood, picture the lakes and forests of Norway as her playground and you can see how nature(Mother Earth) is so important to her and then add in the fact that as a child growing up her family never had a TV or radio, only an record player where she listened to Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohan both great wordsmiths in the art of music,it's then you can start to understand what makes this girl become the amazing artist she is today, and to think at the age of 6 she found an old Brocken piano and taught herself to play without being able to read music is astonishing,to then at the age of 9 write a song called Lucky which you must listen to its a masterpiece and by the age of 16 have enough songs for her first album.(all my demons greeting as a friend )WOW! She is so special, for me she is a GENIUS .As a lover of music all of my life, like most of you we all have at times enjoyed certain artists, the reasons for this can be many fold, but I can honestly say that at this moment in my journey no one has touched my emotions or moved me like this young artist from Norway and there is a reason for her to have a huge fan base all over the world. She is such a great songwriter, singer and performer - for me there is a unique quality to her voice and the way she expresses her feelings in every word she sings is a quality that not many singers have She is not mainstream as she has created her own genre, and therefore she is not topping any charts. But that is not what aurora is about she has never craved for that she is a child of the earth and so grounded in what she believes in .So for me a musical journey with Aurora is a journey with meaningful lyrics and comforting vocals that makes you ask yourself questions and think more deeply about the kind of world we want to live in,for someone so young to write and produce songs plus produce all her own videos is outstanding.yes Aurora is a Genius.

Not the first time I've watched this reaction, and in fact I've watched approximately one million other Aurora reactions too. But your comments at the end struck me. On an intellectual level, you certainly wouldn't want an artist in their own world, disconnected from the audience. But with Aurora, she's the most captivating artist I've ever seen, and part of that is because of how the music encapsulates her entire being, and we're just witnesses. I think it works for her because her voice is so unique and expressive, and everything about her is authentic. So you're drawn in, even if you're not necessarily included. Having said that, she's grown as a performer over the years, and she now connects very much with her audience. And yet, I find her very much just as captivating. 🤷‍♂️

Welcome to the completely special world of Aurora! You have a wealth of discovery ahead. Love your reaction, btw. I appreciate when I learn more about "why" I am so taken by an artist's music. I learned, in this video, more I didn't know about time signatures. Aurora has no formal musical training. It's all just her being who she is. And she has picked up musical influences from a wide variety of sources. (As evidenced in past interviews). Silja is an accomplished singer/songwriter on her own. But her and Aurora's voices are absolutely perfect with each other, imo. If you continue to follow Aurora, you will discover that her male band members' voices also blend perfectly. All of her songs are story/songs. And no two are alike. A lot of different styles of "painting" the picture she wants to paint with that song - that message. Most of her songs speak of the struggles that we humans face. She is a keen observer of human nature, whether or not the experiences she describes are what she, herself, has gone through. And, yes, she completely disappears into the song she is singing. At the same time, all of her songs give hope along with the incredible wrench into our hearts and souls. Someone has compared her songs with sound healing. I totally agree!

Aurora really is in a league of her own, so happy to see you go down this magical wonderland as well. My suggestions would be: The Seed - a bit more uptempo and with a message that hits you like a gut punch. Runaway - a dive into her early days, I believe she was 12 or 13 when she wrote this one. God Is A Woman - a cover she got 1 hour to prepare for.

What I find extremely interesting about this song is that (in my interpretation) it is about violence in a toxic relationship. Usually, people involved in this sort of relationships tend to be in denial of the situation... and I think Aurora is reflecting that mindset, her character is painting every violent scene with nice words and nice imagery... where in fact, the "reality" is far from beautiful....

Aurora said in a tv interview that the creativ process in making songs and having the control in the studio, to do what ever you want is liberating, but ones you perform the song live on stage it's out of your hands. You as an artist isn't important anymore. it's all about the song and she is just a tool, a vessel to the song. It comes to her from somewhere and goes through her out to us all. That's why she is so in the moment. Be safe Björn

I've seen people say Aurora describe It Happened Quite as a prequel to Murder Song. Assuming that's true, this song could be seen as life flashing before her eyes before the act. The first verse seeming more light and carefree, like happy lovers, but then describing the hardships the relationship faced, possibly because of the hard choice in murder song coming up. Plus the repeated mention of red and her falling body. I think it makes sense if it's followed immediately by Murder Song, which is frequently viewed from the point of view of her spirit at/shortly after the act. And she has definitely described that song as a tragic love story about true love. Or, I may just be over thinking it all...

People are really put off by artists that go into themselves when they perform? I dont understand why. I mean how much more genuine can you get? Isnt that exactly what you want from artists? To be transformed by the art they make and allow us to witness that effect? Its like they are baring their soul. I love it. Its amazing to watch. And Aurora does it a lot. I have seen her perform certain songs and when she finishes its like shes coming out of a trance and shes suddenly surprised to see an audience staring at her. Some songs move her so much that she has to get it back together to perform the next song. I LOVE that... Its so personal and so giving of her to allow us to witness it.

I totally dig Aurora's backing vocalist /instrumentalist. Her octave, dynamic, and tone changes truly beautified the performance.

I think the reason Aurora doesn't lose the listener when she goes so deeply into her experience, is that she draws us in with her. It doesn't feel like she went somewhere else, It feels like she's taking you somewhere.

There are a lot of good singers out there but only a few are what I would call actual artists. Aurora is such an interesting uniquely talented artist. She is as captivating to watch as she is to listen to.

I for one can't recommend her collaborations with Warduna enough. Traditional instruments, beautiful male and female voice interplay and some of the best atmospheric folk going. Even if you don't react to it please watch Wardruna and Aurora - Helvegen (Live) for a real treat

one of the things she did was actually ACT the song! as an amateur engineer, I promise that comes across the electronica even if you can't see it. This really is a performance piece and stands up to scrutiny from a strictly audio sense as well. (and I NEVER heard of her before!) my loss, but thank you for the introduction!

Hey Julia, thank you for another superb reaction video! There are many exquisite songs by Aurora, which just wait to be discovered by you. As others have pointed out, the live version of “Helvegen” with the group “Wardruna” is worth giving it a listen. And afterwards, to bridge the gap between ancient times and today’s music, maybe you check out Aurora’s version of Ariana Grande’s “God is a Woman”. I think you will be in for a treat. :)

I really enjoyed your reaction to this song and performance by AURORA! She is quite unique! I recommend reacting to other songs from her various live performances: "Through the Eyes of a Child," "Little Boy in the Grass" and "Lucky" from the Nidarosdomen Christmas Concert (in a cathedral with orchestral ensemble and choir); as well as "Infections of a Different Kind," "The Seed" and “Daydreamer” from the HAIK 2019 concert she held in a forest; plus "Churchyard" and "All is Soft Inside” from the KEXP concert in Iceland; and the Bergen Philharmonic concert where she sings “Soulless Creatures” live for the first time. Her covers include Ariana Grande's "God is a Woman," David Bowie's "Life on Mars," Massive Attack's "Teardrop," Leonard Cohen's "The Partisan," Alanis Morissette's "Thank U," or John Lennon's "Across the Universe."
