This whole thing is a Layne creation. Even the Easter eggs hiden in the trees. The masks from Kidnap The Sandy Claws, Lock, Shock, and Barrel. Rick Underwood and his helpers did their makeup magic. I love watching the BTS videos. Building the set. Costumes and makeup.

What I found rather amusing is how Geoff and Cesar's characters were the only two who didn't sample the contents of the cauldron. Since it was clear that those contents were affecting the voices and singing styles of the beings sampling it, it seems to indicate that Geoff and Cesar's characters were very comfortable being just who they already are. Geoff's seemed to be a strong lead, and Cesar was happily whimsical.

A little peek at the Carrot Lord = Layne being used. His makeup is orange - he tosses in a carrot.. In many of their videos you need to watch for "easter eggs" little things tossed in that you don't catch the first time - or if you see them you don't realize what they are. Its great. The Carrot Lord even disappears in an orange carrot shaped puff of smoke. Great reaction!

This is so much fun, I can't tell you how many gazillion times I've watched it. Geoff wrote/arranged the swing style bit, the rest was all Layne. And the body function bits show that evidently there is a part of men that doesn't ever grow up past the age of 10! You've seen Layne's humor, now react to their version of Drunken Sailor. Geoff's version with a Geoff bridge. Trust me!

I cannot watch this without bouncing along with them in the final stretch. And there are just so many fun moments in it, such as when Layne throws away Cesar's precious ingredient and then Geoff reacts for a split second like, "Layne man, wth?" And an interesting contrast between Layne's first drink & his relatively soft solo riff, then jumping to Eli's very bright, powerful solo riff. And of course, the carrot at the end. IYKYK

This is one of the reasons I love VoicePlay. The versatility in their genres, and the amount of talent every member of the group has makes every song so awesome. This particular one is a joyful romp around the cauldron. Others make you weep, cheer, scream, want to go to battle, etc. They are so adept at bringing out the emotion of every song they put their production and voices to. It's so hard for me to understand how they can keep making everything better as time goes on, but am so happy for everything they create. You should reach out to the guys...perhaps a collaboration in the future? Wouldn't it be cool to sing with them?

In fact, Mortius has talked a lot with Cesar and I think they did a little something...of course all the guys seem like sweethearts! In fact, a controversial cover they did waaay back was with their former singer Tony, and they did the Phantom of the Opera. Controversial in that you either really love it or totally hate it. Doing one of my faves. I wish they had been given an award for this one. VoicePlay members have all worked in Disney/Universal in Orlando where they met Elizabeth. If you check out Frozen 2 you can hear Elizabeth's ethereal voice but she isn't seen. I love everything about this. I was in concert band doing contrabass clarinet back in high school and we played the Peer Gynt Suite but this was my favorite movement. I couldn't believe it when they did this production of it. I definitely enjoy your energy and joy with Geoff and VoicePlay. Sometime try VPs ACA Top 10 Movie Themes.

Each month, Geoff and Layne (and now Eli) switch off for who’s in charge of arrangements and direction, but this one was a real passion project for Layne. I mean, that's pretty good, sure; but this is better in basically every way imaginable. Better and more transformative musical arrangement. Better concept, better implementation. Better acting. Better set. Better costumes. Better lighting. Better mood setting. Better visual composition. Storytelling. Humor. Just... everything. It didn't get a Grammy, because VP doesn't have a record label, so they're just disqualified from ever getting those, regardless of the quality of their work. Which is fine; they don't need them. Their work speaks for itself.

@@raestoysandmore3339 Nothing against Pentatonix. They are probably the second- or third-best currently active acapella group performing primarily in the English language. Which is fairly elite territory. They're particularly good at EDM-style music, if you like that sort of thing. Their rendition of Daft Punk is really something. But I don't think their Tchaikovsky cover would benefit from being compared to VoicePlay's Grieg. That sets expectations that they can't deliver on.

@@raestoysandmore3339 It doesn't work that way. People don't magically adopt all of your opinions as soon as they are exposed to a specific thing that is dear to you. I like Pentatonix, but seeing them live once, or a hundred times, or a thousand, would not alter my opinion on this, because I am already *aware* of the fact that PTX performs well live, and I have taken that into account, and I still think VoicePlay is better, at just about everything except writing original songs. PTX is better at that.

Welcome to Layne's creative brain 😉. VP comes with a dose of fun. The advantage of being independent is to try what you like... in Layne's own words... sometimes it works and sometimes it's not well received, but they at least did what they wanted to! Elizabeth says she doesn't sing opera professionally- she's a friend of Layne and he asked her to do this with them! She is amazing though! The video is very clever - each food added to the cauldron causes a change to the voices - notice who / who does not drink from the cauldron! Thanks for this... 🌹🕊

And her voice has been heard in another of their videos. Layne used her voice in their Frozen medley. They’ve known her since their Disney days. She was a member of Voices of Liberty. And Geoff sang with her in Toxic Audio (aka Vox Audio) And the character voices at the end? Both were Layne!

You'll never get a karaoke version with VoicePlay. They put their own spin on everything they do, I call it the VP Trademark 🤯🔥. The cauldron mostly changes colors with every potion they add to it (not always, but ...), which affects the characters, making them sing higher, sound like drunk, red smoke out of Eli's ears after adding hot pepper, you get my point. Their creativity and quality shines on every aspect, and they pay so much attention to detail and easter eggs (masks, carrot, etc). Silly as it is, this is one of my very top favs from them. One bit of humor that you might not get is the use of carrots. Carrots are kind of a running joke through VoicePlay. Mostly brought in by Layne. He was nicknamed the CarrotLord after this because they really played up the carrot, but he also came out carrot colored to add to it. If you didn't notice what Elizabeth flicked away early in the song, it was a baby carrot that Eli wanted to add. She apparently realized adding a carrot was not a good idea. But she isn't looking when Layne throws in the carrot at the end. I find it hard to count just how very many tempo and style changes they manage throughout this! I know the original has a lot of tempo changes, but in this case the tempo change also often brings a style change. That isn't in the original, but it fits so well I think because of all the instrument changes in the original. While a change of instrument doesn't bring a musical style change, each instrument has its own 'style'. A flute is very different from an oboe. Or even more different to switch to strings.
