They are filming their next epic offering this week. But before you see that, I’m hoping you will react to their Hall of the Mountain King. I’m sure you know the tune. But in your wildest imagination you won’t believe what Layne did with the arrangement. Without any words, he tells a story and delights us all!.

Thank you for watching all the way to the end. Sometimes they will put in an epilogue and on Geoff’s channel he will usually come on and thank everyone. We also sometimes get to see some of the behind-the-scenes and over the last several years they have been using the music to the karaoke track during the outro. You can really hear those harmonies and the beatboxing when you’re not so distracted by the lead! J’s rap has references to his being in the military. He was so fast that I had to watch more than once with close captions on to get it all. His diction is clear- I just can’t listen fast enough! One of my favorite parts about this is when J is rapping, Eli and the others are shouting “this is war”. I don’t know why but it gives me the chills every time. Oh, and the only real things in the tavern are the benches and tables (and the guys). Eli used the program Unreal Engine which is used in film and video games to create those digital backgrounds. They were projected on massive LED screens. Everything was done by him including the door that J walked through although Layne did provide the creaking sound. The AC was out that day so they had to perform in all those furs in Florida heat. That’s dedication!

Loved this one ever since it came out, and love seeing you really get into it! Another reactor (FairyVoiceMother) did a comparison on Eli's high part, showing he was hitting the same kind of notes as Sia, Whitney Houston, etc! This was a fitting 'sequel' to 'My Mother Told Me' - same makeup, costumes, etc. with Cesar wearing the hooded robe that Jose wore in MMTM! This was one of their biggest productions, using a VR studio with LED walls to show Eli's amazing backgrounds on - please, react to 'Hall Of The Mountain King' - you will be blown away by what they do with this classical piece! 😊

Thanks for another enthusiastic reaction to Voice Play! For more of J None's Rapping check out Voice Play's cover of "Superstition" featuring Omar Cardona. J None left Voice Play to join the Navy and is active duty military but a recent promotion and relocation for J None has made it easier for him to come back and sing with Voice Play as a frequently featured guest. Omar Cardona fills in frequently as a guest with Voice Play (Omar is Cesar's long time best friend and roommate). Many more recent covers from Geoff and Voice Play that are complex that you will love: "In The Air Tonight", "Creep", "Nothing Else Matters" just to name only a few.

Yep. My favorite song! Is it any wonder it's my favorite? Berserker Cesar (to the best of my knowledge it's pronounced like in "Julius Cesar"), Rock God Eli, all the Geoffquakes (several B0s in here)...the only reason I don't sleep to it, is it's such a banger. I doubt I'll beat my record of over 43,500 times for Hoist The Colors (and that's just last year, I still listen to it EVERY night as I sleep!), but Valhalla Calling definitely comes in second place in number of listenings! I listen to it EVERY other night, and it's on all my evening playlists! Honestly, my favorite line-up of Voiceplay is when J. None and Cesar are together in a song, they have their own special playlist. I do wonder if I'm the only one who acts out the hand gestures in "Valhalla Calling," like when they do the "RrraAH!" part and Eli sticks his arms out, or the punch Cesar does at the end. Maybe I just have too much time on MY hands... 💙

This song will always be so special to me. It was my first ever VoicePlay song and looking at it now, I can realize that this song is not just one member flexing, but all of them. Layne's percussion and arrsngement drives this warrior's anthem forward and you with it, just like a war drum would. Eli goes full Rock God mode, proving he is just here on vacation from Asgard. Cesar turns his sass into full warrior grit and his words become what I can only describe as sharp enough to cut someone. J.None brings some absolutely fire bars to the show that are actually so very fitting for Vikings (look up Flyting). And a 15 second B0 from Geoff!? A B *ZERO*! Much lower and he is off the end of the keyboard! I also have a little headcanon of an underlying story in the song, based mostly on visuals and a little bit of the music. J. is off on his own at first to reference his time with the Navy. The others are back in the long house of the VoicePlay clan. The calls out at the beginning could then be seen as not just Valhalla calling these warriors, but VP calling J.None back to the group. When he does join bavk with the others, he takes a spot that didnt even LOOK empty until he takes it, and the group is complete. It is also not until he has his clan with him that J drops into his berserker-like rap cause he trusts them to watch his back while he does this frenzy of a performance. And then they all face the oncoming force together as a whole group of 5. Really makes me hope J comes back to the group after his tour with the Navy, not going ro lie.

This is a follow-up to My Mother Told Me rather than a sequel. Valhalla Calling was inspired by Assassin's Creed: Valhalla and Eivor. Geoff held that first B0 subharmonic about 15 seconds beneath the verse (he holds it about 12 seconds later on under the rap), as well as singing several A1, F#1, and E1 Subs and chest notes. He said Layne kept pushing him lower and lower, making this the lowest song for him (as of that date). And Eli is throwing incredible D5s and B5s around as if they were nothing! Layne's vocal percussion, including the "breathing" and the creaky door opening are totally on point. Rick Underwood and Renette Feren did an amazing job recreating the My Mother Told Me makeups for the characters, with some added touches. The runes on Cesar's face and Geoff's arm say VoicePlay. The rune on Eli's forearm and J's face (as it was in My Mother Told Me) is the Norse word rune for music, tónlist. The way it is displayed on J's face is reminiscent of the Assassin's Creed: Valhalla character Sigurd Styrbjornson. Geoff had tónlist on his upper arm for MMTM. Several MMTM costume pieces were repurposed for this shoot. One example: Cesar is wearing the robe José used. This was shot in a volume studio (like the one used for The Mandalorian) with a 155 foot wide, 26 foot tall LED screen, using Eli's Unreal Engine animated set designs. This allows the "set" to track with the camera's movement, making it seem as if the guys are actually on an elaborate film set (the air conditioning at the studio wasn't working, so they were very sweaty Vikings). It's pronounced "CEE-sar" not "Ses-AR". :)

There is this band called OTYKEN (pronounced aw-too-ken) who are from wildest and coldest part of Siberia in Russia. The band is made up mostly of a tribe called Chulym. According to one version, the Chulyms are the ancestors of the Japanese Ainu and the indigenous peoples of North America. According to another version, the Chulyms are an ancient Turkic tribe. The Chulyms live along the Chulym River in the Krasnoyarsk Territory where temperatures go right down to -70 Celsius. Chulyms are the lords of honey and great beekeeping masters. Their method of extracting honey has not changed from ancient times to the present days. The band is made up of mostly Siberian girls (that too gorgeous ones )with just one guy (at present). The astonishing thing is NONE of them have received any formal musical education. The best thing is even though they have become so famous, when they are not singing they still live in their village and go about the normal lives collecting herbs and pine cones, moving through the wild taiga for hunting, apiary work, preparing gear for night fishing. Infact in some performances you'll find some girls missing because they are helping their families at home with village activities. I have a background in classical music but I am still not able to understand why their music has such mesmerizing and stunning effect. They live in a place whether is no electricity and all their amazingly beautiful videos are shot in the absolute wild Siberia with just a generator for electricity. They use traditional instruments as well as modern instruments and try to mix modern sounds with their folk music. One girl (Tsveta) plays a jaw harp and another (Kunchari) plays the Igil ; which is a kind of cello with two strings and the sound box is a skull of an Ox with the horns complete! Another girl (Otamay) plays the Khomys, a 2 stringed banjo lookalike. There is something very special about their music; as one person commented, their music is an experience. And the lead singer, Azyan, has a voice which is just undescribably mesmerizing and hypnotic. She doesn't have the beautiful rasp of Angelina Jordan nor the dark rich Timber of Diana Ankudinova but when she sings it's like mother earth is singing. The sing in the local language, which is fast dying out and is spoken by less than 200 people in the world today. This is their valiant attempt to keep their language and culture alive in an indifferent world. I think they should get all the support from us. The band was invited to perform for the opening ceremony of the Football world cup at Qatar but could not make it because of the sanctions against Russia. They were also called to perform for the Grammys. I suggest you start with the song called Chukotka which is recently released. Make sure to have the subtitles on as the lyrics of the song are beautiful. This song truly brings out the beauty of the videos, of the place they live in and the voice of the lead singer, who is nothing short of angelic. Link is below: kzread.info/dash/bejne/gnmCzZiHcqjfgNY.htmlfeature=shared . The next song you should review is a collaboration between Otyken and Dutch DJ of Turkish descent called Ummet Ozcan. This is very different from the earlier song Chukotka but highlights the versatility of the group. The video is shot in the stunning mountains of the Taiga in summer. The music is just mind blowing where they mix Siberian folk with EDM. Note Ummet does Kargyraa throat singing which is part of turkic culture, I think. I love that old school soul R&B sound and he has got such an amazing voice. Not all the song choices are my preference but I bet I’ve downloaded about half of his music. One thing I love about VoicePlay besides their sheer talent is the way that they can introduce me to music that I’ve missed because I listen to the songs I grew up with for the most part. Teddy has such an incredible voice and I really liked that he covered it a few different ways so it can be on my playlist more than once😊.

I can’t remember if I already asked but are you familiar with Voctave? I think you would also really enjoy them!

I'm familiar with the group but have not listened to much of their repertoire. Sounds like an interesting path to explore =)

@@goodeveningstories I would love to see you analyze them! They have some amazing Disney medleys (love, princess, heroes and villians) but if you aren’t into Disney some of my other favorites are their Great Movie Medley and You Will Be Found. Also some Christmas ones are my favorite but I it’s too early for that lol I’m going to go ahead and subscribe in hopes you keep on this acapella train!
