@@breatheocean1 Your nutrition advice has really helped me improve my OW swimming distance and endurance over the past month. Serious question: when you're swimming ultralong distance and eating real, high-fiber food, do you ever need to have a bowel movement? Or do the water pressure and energy use kind of preclude that?

The best thing to do is speak to a qualified dietitian, but I use yoghurt, peanut butter or home made soup to get my portein in

Thank you for the helpful video! Currently training for my first open water swim 2km 😁💪is it sufficient that I'm training in a regular pool? Thanks!

  • @sarahferguson6946

It is sufficient in terms of fitness, but it is very helpful doing a few sessions in the ocean to get use to the extra buoyancy, waves, swell, salt water and current. The pool is very controlled in comparison to the ocean so I would advise trying to get in the open water prior to your first event.

cool vid, very helpful, i tend to have nausea when i eat before swimming... which is a problem for afternoon swims. any tips? btw, you said what sandwich is good to for very salty water? thks :D

It depends what you eat before you swim and how much, I would suggest playing around with different food options, often you just need to train your body to eat and get used to it. Something like a smoothie sometimes is easier to digest. Avo on a sandwhich is great for salty water! Good luck with the training

Hello everyone!... I'm getting that feeding should be roughly every 30 to 40 min, a variety of foods, right? Anyone know the AMOUNTS of food that WON'T interrupt your swimming? Thx.

It depends on how far you swimming and what your body is used to. It does differ slightly between individuals. It's best to speak to a dietician to guide you more specifically through this process.

Please don't do raw eggs in your smoothies, you'll risk salmonella. Try white beans with your smoothie instead.
