This was SOOOOO helpful ♥️ I’ve been doing better at practice and meets and I don’t feel so energy deprived as I used to just with the breakfast, the chocolate milk, and the 30 minute window foods

Why does she suggest Gatorade in the beginning then says no sports drinks at end?
@ArthurSavage

It says no energy drinks, not no sports drinks. Energy drinks are with caffeine etc. She only recommends sports drinks (Gatorade) around workout or before a morning practice.

Yes, you should, regardless of being a swimmer or not. Avoid added sugars. You want to stay under about 21 grams of added sugars a day.

@@erikasmi That's not based on science. That arbitrary number is less than a 12 year olds recommended consumption of added sugar. Also its more so about ratio than an actual fixed one size fits all number. People are different however it is typically recommended that you have aproximately 10% of added sugar of your typical caloric consumption. Therefore, if you were to eat 3,500 calories a day( Like me) You are looking at about 35g of added sugar. One important thing is that you should NOT steer you away from natural sugars, for a 2000 calorie diet, you need 90g of total sugars, and only 20 of those added sugar, meaning that you have room for 70g of natural sugar.

@@brianfosterkinsale4403 I understand that. Which is why I didn’t use definitive language. I also specifically stated “added” sugars, not natural sugars. I simply believe there are much better options out there than sports drinks with tons of additives, that’s all.
