fun fact: barnacles are crustaceans meaning that they are more closely related to crabs and lobsters than they are to bivalves like oysters and mussels.

Barnacles are crustaceans. They are related to lobsters, shrimps, clams, and crabs! I’m not surprised they are edible. For those who say Asians eat everything, do you forget French eat snails? I also heard of westerners eating horses , pigeons, reindeers, rabbits, kangaroo. Yuck!

I am Buddhist. We avoid eat animals that live long if we don’t eat them. I prefer chickens to beef, lamb etc. Pigeons have virus disease. Rabbits are too cute. Eating horses and rabbits is as Yuck as eating dogs!

@@dwilawan A hypocrite is what you are. Chicken can live pretty long in captivity too, up to 8-10 years, to refuse beef and lamb based on a difference of a couple of years is pretty arbitrary. And chicken are susceptible to the same viruses as pigeons are, and if that's your measure you're going to have to starve, because every animal, plant and other organism is just as susceptible to viruses. And rabbits which are herbivores are not in any way comparable to dogs which are carnivores.

I'd try it. I think gooseneck barnacles are the ones people eat and I read they are 80 dollars a pound. I would hope that's 80 dollars a pound after they are removed from their shell, or that would be hella expensive.

Been binge watching these barnacle related videos for a while and you gotta admit the double standards in the comment section. If the video shows an asian cooking, it's "disgusting and gross". But if video is done in western country and cooked by a western guy suddenly it's "appetizing and looks delicious". Lmao

Nah, some worms and larva have off flavors that make them not as tasty. I’ve never had a barnacle that tastes bad. Plus they are much easier to forage.

I’ve seen a lot of videos about people eating gooseneck barnacles I think there’s another name for them too but a lot of people said they were good I’ve never seen this type of barnacle eaten before I wonder why because a lot of people eat the gooseneck ones I’ve never seen them in stores though I’ve seen a lot of it almost is like you have to harvest the gooseneck barnacles near the sea I don’t think you could transport them though
