I actually sleep better in a tent. Something about the comfort of it I guess lol maybe because it brings back memories from camping as a kid.

I camp fish all the time i throw my kayak in the truck bed and can go anywhere. I sleep out of an Australian style swag tent 10/10 recommend !!!!!

Hopefully you add a leer high rise fiberglass shell, so you can have plenty of room for sitting up in bed without hitting your head. Plus you'll have plenty of room for the ceiling slide drawer you like to have for storage.

Some PVC pipe could be used to make a chap frame in that truck, an upright on one side stake pocket with a 3 way 90 degree, one end points to the three way at the other end of the truck bed with a pipe between them. Other open end points to the other side of the truck and gets a 45 degree elbow on it, that elbow gets a piece of pipe down to the other side stake pocket with a 45 and a piece of pipe into the pocket. Drop a tarp over it and bungee it to the sides of the truck bed... instant rain shelter for little money. Only glue a few of the parts so it all takes down and rolls up in the tarp. Truck bed tent for under $50

If you ever head up to Michigan check out Craig lake state park. Its a none motor lake and the road doesn't go to the lake it has a path to the lake and you kayak to the camp site. It also has portage spots that you can walk to other lakes in the area
