I grew up running small jon boats, and i didn't see anything truly dangerous with the waves. There's a way to run a boat in the waves. Maybe im just used to it. Many times, i have got my feet wet in the bottom of my jon boat cause water was 2 inches deep in it...lol. and no, we didn't have a bildge pump. Our bildge pump was bucket or a gallon jug that cut open. Good job on the jug catfish. Thats my 2nd favorite way to catfish other than setting bush hooks

You can't even argue against the ole Blue Cat man.... no hate against the other lake felines but a few slabs of blue cat fried to perfection with some fried corn bites, red spuds and sausage done up in a seafood boil is about the best damn meal that I can fish onto a plate!!!

Had fresh catfish caught in the Arkansas River at a Catfish house between Clarksville and Russellville. My stomach said you're done long before my mind did! And they fresh made hand pies for desert! The owner catches the fish within 24hrs of service!

Recently had an experience similar on lake palestine. Not much makes me nervous on the water but these waves were big enough for my boat to surf on them. Good times !

Ive had days like that in the gulf in a lake john. scary for sure

Done that a time or two in my little 12ft tinner. The bay I usually fish wide open on the north side so any time there's a north wind it gets brutal. But of course georgian bay is known for that. Now my boats a V hull not a Jon boat so that does help things but it can get nasty quick

Dad and I made friends when we went camping to Guntersville and they invited us to do this. We caught about 15-20 and I have a picture of fish bigger than me when I was about 10. It was a fishing trip I’ll never forget. Those cats were huge.

My last boat was just about the same size It’s most definitely scary AF in big waves! I was out last week in my bass boat and was skipping across waves that I’d never be out in the aluminum boats.

Me and a buddy got caught in a severe thunderstorm on a lake where I live in TN in a 14x42 John boat with a trolling motor and we basically had to survive on the bank till it was over. It was WILD

Love your videos, when you have that blood line or red meat on the fillet just take a filet knife and trim it, we get that on many saltwater fish where I live and I always trim all the red off. That’s what gives it a fishy / nasty flavor. Trust me, especially Amberjack can have a huge blood line, trim in good, season well and it is delicious if it’s fresh!!!

LFG! Long-time fan / subscriber / fishin' freak here. As far as bleeding your fish, you need to do it WAAAAY earlier; like as soon as you catch your fish, gut them & cut out the red part of their gills. Then either stick it head first in a bucket of water, or dangle it overboard until you're satisfied all the blood has drained out. After that, it should be put in an ICE-FILLED cooler as soon as possible, covering as much of the fish as you can. That way, it will be chilled & firm when you go to fillet it & will be much easier to work with. All in all, you should end up with a MUCH cleaner, tastier, higher quality end product. Try it next time & see what you think. And keep the great content coming; IMO, yourself & Jon B. produce some of the best fishing / outdoors videos out there. And I feel like I learn something new every time I watch you- so hopefully you can take this as my own way of returning the favor! Because I'm always reminded of the fact that everyone you meet in life, no ,matter who they are, knows SOMETHING that you don't. Always keeps me grounded. Cheers! 😉

I been in a certain situation as well on the lake in a bad storm in a bass boat my dad and his cousin powered threw trying to get to a bank where it’s a lot better and me and my younger cousin was taking cover was fun to me tho 😂

Most anyone who owns a boat has experienced storm conditions. Many years ago, wife and I were out when water spouts popped up behind my boat with 35+ mph winds. Made it back to the marina. It blew through, the water flattened and the sun came out. Wife would not go back out and she has refused to set foot in my boat ever since, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. lol.

What is your go to camp/bush crafting fixed blade? No matter the cost. I live in the woods and always carry a decent pocket knife but I'm in the market for a great do it all fixed blade.

If you would take a look, Its a jon boat. Not meant to be taken on 24 hours insane windy and rainy fishing trips. Its made to get out on the water and get some fish and go home. Don't be upset because you can't afford live scope.

True story years ago, was on a lake when a bad storm blew up. Horrible waves and unbeknownst to me there was a stump I couldn’t see and the boat came down on the stump and went straight through the bow of the boat and I was stranded!
