One Year w/ an Autism Diagnosis!

I'm so grateful to be here, and I'm so glad I started my adventure with discovering something so special about myself. One of the greatest parts about my diagnosis has been you guys! Thank you so much for joining me on this lifetime of learning ❤️

Hearing you say you're going to celebrate your diagnosis is one of the most refreshing perspectives! Recently, I've been in a negative headspace of "why can't I just be normal" and this really pulled me out of that. I was originally on KZread to distract myself from trying to write a list of my strengths and this actually got me so motivated. Thank you 🥺🖤

You are so welcome!! And it is really hard to get past the “why can’t I be normal?” thoughts. They’ll likely still pop up when you make some mistakes, but usually trying to do something I really like helps me recenter (if I catch it early lol). Good luck Hope & thanks for your comment ! ♾💕

My 3 year anniversary is coming up Dec 19, and it's just feeling more meaningful as time goes on. I keep discovering new parts of my life, myself, and my past that I am able to reclaim with the understanding that I am autistic, and that those moments in my life are important expressions of who I am at my core. I'm so happy for you and I appreciate your videos a lot.

Yay!! Happy Autiversary Aneva!! 🌸🌈🙌♾🎉💖💕 (..I don't know if that's a thing, I just made it up because it sounds cute so it is now hehe!) It's SO wonderful for us to be happy about our diagnoses and to celebrate and appreciate who we are. For you to share that is so beautiful as it helps so many who may have only heard bad things about it even in themselves, and it helps this whole shift away from it being super negative and towards our freedom to love who we are and for autism to be seen anew and more positively. That's powerful and fabulous! 💖💕💖💕

I’m so glad I found your channel 😄 your videos are really helpful. I didn’t find out I had autism until I was an adult and it’s taken a while to figure out who I am but I am so much happier than I was before!

This year marks 2 years since I discovered I was Autistic/ADHD. I found out through an artist with ADHD, Joyner Lucas. Then afterward, I did research and whatnot and here I am today. I have a few friends who are autistic and even tho we're different individuals, we still relate. I hope to have more autistic friends in the future (I have only 3 lol). I'm happy for you that getting a diagnosis has positively impacted you. I hope your adventure continues amazingly!!

I had a great day! And that really made me smile:) lol I literally thought you were talking about a physical desk and after I figured out what you meant, I remembered this one episode of SpongeBob where they’re in a brain with a bunch of desks abs filing cabinets like they work in an office. Lol anyway, that’s incredible ✨ 20 is a BIG deal and I hope you can celebrate 🎉!!

@@Aneva I grew up on SpongeBob, so I know what episode you're talking about! I actually started using this after listening to a podcast called Neurodivergent Women on Spotify. They explain that our memory can be like a desk. It's not that we forgot, but we have so much "clutter" that it can be hard to find. And thank you! Hopefully I can learn some ways to celebrate my big day.

i was diagnosed 3/23/22. remember it like it was yesterday. i expect my aut-day to be a joyful one considering we should be settled in our next(and hopefully final) place! i always knew deep down i was but idk, couldnt put my finger on it so the diagnosis really helped me in that way. now that i know, therapy makes more sense and other things i previously didnt believe nor understand now makes sense. its definitely a unique experience, being autistic and discovering it in retrospect rather than say, toddlerhood etc. unrelated: takes me six hours to retwist my hair! originally it took me 8-9! you'll get faster the more you do it. i cant use clips, its an overall nightmare. i just make firm mini cinnabons all around my head. how do you twist yours?

  • @Aneva

Your one year is coming up fast!! Being diagnosed has helped a whole lot with therapy and the ways I view the things I go through. And late diagnosis is so different from finding out while you’re still in primary school. And omg six hours! How many locs do you have (if you’ve counted?) I haven’t done a retwist yet, as I officially started just on the 22nd, but I’ll keep an update on it. I might pay someone to do it the first time and then I’ll teach myself!
