What did he say?

I think Liam saw nothing in the "purgatory" because no one thinks he's alive, so there's nothing to guide him to the proper afterlife. Bryce was lucky enough to get eliminated earlier on so there wasn't enough time for people to think he's dead.

(I think this happens in episode 15) yes, And at one point Bryce says "We are not in the suburbs anymore." hinting at the fact that he no longer saw His sister there and just the vast extending land.

Airy is definitely the most interesting character. We know he isn't omnipresent, and that his powers have limits, along with being able to be hurt/incapacitated. It can be assumed that Airy is simply a human, who the objects cannot see due to the whole '3d people cant see 4d entities so maybe 2d people cant see 3d entities', however, many also assume Abstract was removed due to attempting to take on Airy's true form, which is pretty far from what a human is.

My favourite object show, mostly because it doesn’t follow the same rules as other object shows, basically being a realistic version of BFDI, the contestants questioning where they are and what their doing, wanting to go home, and being suspicious of the hosts motivations

Well, they (the contestants) came to airy's world. The anouncer came to their (the contestants) world with them already having relationships (the alliance)(pen, eraser and block)(etc) They're not in an unfamiliar world, they just have an unfamiliar chararcter there. So yknow it one character is less suprizing than an actual other world.

They”re basically total opposites: BFC is a stereotypical object show with identical contestants and a parody on object shows, ONE is an object show which basically rejects all of the tropes of its genre and is just a really good show

One thing I really want to compliment is the OST. Every song in this show makes sense for an object show but it's so...off... It's uncanny how close these pieces are to something you'd hear from Kevin Macleod, but they're just distorted enough to be absolutely horrifying. Spow and Endtro are great examples of this. Like, listen to Lade from the BFB OST and then immediately listen to Endtro afterwards. It's terrifying.

Airy is probably a floor lamp. He broke his light bulb after slipping and falling onto the ground(the glass shattering sounds for reference), so he stayed in a hospital for some months before coming back to take care of the show

i think that the reason liam did not see anything in the waiting room is because the competition made him lose everything. he had no inentive to go, so he didn’t. brise has his sister, but liam was stripped of every thing during the Competition

This show is interesting because of focusing on direct and intense horror where some monostrophic force is attacking the main characters, it focuses on COSMIC horror; fear of the unknown. You have to look at everything and listen to important messages in the show to decipher Ones lore.

27:48 I don't know if I would say that these people are unlucky for not being able to see the purgatory how it is. it seems like the purgatory shows them things that they love. Bryce loves his sister, the unnamed gem character probably loves the person who's name he calls, and texty loves cat videos. Who does Liam love? Sure, he has his friends, but it seems like no one is that close to him

maybe liam sees the purgatory as it is because he has no loved ones? everyone else sees the people they love (e.g. bryce sees his sister, texty sees puppies) but liam just.. doesnt have anyone. hence, the purgatory’s illusions have no effect on him because theres nothing to draw from to convince him to run off into the presumed afterlife

Spoiler: I love how when we actually see Airy in ONE 17, half his face is broken, showing us the result of that 5 month gap where he disappeared. That explains the glass shattering sound effect that was played when he fell. Also we get to see what the spire at the bottom of The Plane is, and the theory that Abstracty was trying to turn into Airy is true, too.

@@waelsor6169 I agree with this, because in bfdia you can see some characters unable to run inbetween the fence while chasing leafy so im pretty sure object shows are 3D but are illustrated in 2d so its much simpler and easier to make

I think the reason contestants in let's say the most well known one, BFDI, don't care, is that they simply don't have much of a life behind this, they are happy to do this because their life is uninteresting when such a thing is not happening. It's just life for them.

I really adore everything about Airy’s character, and i also got somewhat connected to him after ONE 17. *And i REALLY don’t find relatable characters that often so this made me love him even more.*

I came here expecting ONE to be just another random object show and my mind was blown.

My theory is that in Episode 8, The Plug Dream, everyone had their minds (that somehow Airy had the power to do) "plugged," like a socket that could transfer them dimension to dimension. It would explain why the bottom only had upside down grass triangles, and a socket inside a plug. It's probably not a big deal, but it still gives room to wonder.

12:12 He loses his eyes after he says it’ll only be a week or so before she leaves. And then it takes over 7 months. So he didnt know that airy was going to dissapear

Tbe 17'th episode explains why airy is doing it. It's a coping mechaniam. He was alao trapped in the waiting room untill he got lucky and diales the right number. He thought it was good enough, so he stayed. He then spent his time to create ONE. I can't bother explaining any more.....

My thoughts were that the waiting room showed them someone whom they loved or something which they want to lead them into some form of an afterlife. People like Liam or Airy, who didn't have anyone they loved or didn't have anything they wanted, get stuck in that in-between. Maybe there are more people like Airy, who got stuck in that in-between but discover how to use the radio.

Im.. incredibly amazed. Amazed how every episode completely blows the theories before it out of the water. Amazed how things I missed connect and blow ME out of the water. Amazed how.. How this could even just.. be.

This is ONE of the best ONE retrospective I like this ONE video talking about ONE the ONE objects show. This ONE deserves more than ONE hundred and ONE point ONE views Jokes aside this is actually amazing

I really like this essay, I really do, it was a fun thing to help with my intense ONE hyperfixation, but it feels like more of a summary than a proper video essay. You brought up a lot of points, nearly everything that had happened in the show thus far, but it isn't until the end that you really analyze any of it. From the title and your final line, it seems that you have the point of ONE utilizing the hidden horror that has ALWAYS been present within it's genre. That's a really interesting take and one that I certainly agree with, but you never actually go into it. There's a ton of fascinating comparisons to be made with the show and the typical tropes, like how The Plane is modelled after the 'non-descript grassy field' that nearly every show seems to take place on, or how Airy's disappearance mirrors an object show hiatus. You brought up a couple things, like how the contestants had their names stripped away from them, but I think there's still the chance to go far deeper. Again, I enjoyed this and I look forward to your future work, I just hope that down the line you'll be able to spend more time analyzing and sharing your observations. I wish you the best going forward ^-^

ONE is a masterpiece. All the references, all the connections, it's amazing. I kept getting ONE in my recommended, but I never watched it, until a few days ago. I have no regrets on watching it.

14:30 If you listen to the humming closer, its Around the Bend, which is revealed in ONE 18 as the song on the broken cassette player, the only person that could've known Around the Bend is Airy. As well as that, the sticky notes spelling ONE in the background landed there at the start of ONE 5, so this happened between ONE 5 and ONE 8 when Liam finds and tries to destroy the plug.

I think airy might be a vintage lamp, and when he slipped, the shattering we can hear, is his head shattering, and i think the reason he dipped for seven months is because he was in the hospital, so he had to get his eye fixed

I hadn't know there was a object show called ONE, though there being that many, it's hardly surprising that this one would catch my attention, alongside that with a more note with what I've been feed with in terms of information. I like to think that the limbo bends to people's ideal afterlife if they have one (though I suppose this depends on the person). So far, very interesting but also terrifying.

Nobody talking about how in moldy’s “other facts” section on the description of her on the website says she served 3 months in jail 💀

So this is the first guy to recap an object show, I've been watching recap movies but this one is the one I've never seen before.

I just realized something: the waiting room is different for everyone, but most likely everyone (except texty) sees something to do with a loved one. Except Liam. This could mean that Liam doesn't have any loved ones.

I always thought that it was very similar to William Goldings Lord of the Flies. Here’s my connection. It starts off very light hearted, and has a few bits of foreshadowing. But gets sinister and more horror like towards the end. It also plays with the very real idea that is fear of the unknown. Like with the ‘beastie’ in LotF. This fear gradually takes hold of everyone and sets everyone mental. This is a staple plot in both LotF and ONE. I would like to highly commend this show as it is more chilling with its ideas than the creepiest of horror films. The OST is fabulous as well. Fascinating how a simple idea can be manipulated in such a sinister fashion.

I love one, and how it stands out from the other object shows. A show where some characters actually wanna leave. A host who does not have much power, some rather strange contestants, it all works together to create a creative and awesome object show. This is by far my favorite show storyline based, passing bfdi. I don’t know why I have not seen this show sooner.

For me, When Stone was writing the notes then afterwards being eliminated, I thought it said "Vote *Sare-Fake* you have no control" As if Stone was thinking a nickname for Scenty.

I recently discovered ONE and... bruh its so depressing. I love it.

I have a theory about ONE. It might be nonsensical but I still think it could be true. In ONE 12 A website called “plane database” is revealed to exist, meaning that the plane needs a database, my theory is that airy is able to teleport people into the database somehow, I think airy is invisible because airy is editing the database and using a microphone to talk, maybe airy doesn’t exist in the plane and is just somebody talking through a microphone. That’s it.

My theory would be Airy is just some guy in the same world as Liam and the first six, and that he had discovered a radio with Universe Modulation similar to the one in the ‘waiting room’ (or is using another device like a computer that can tune into different realities). Toothpaste (Julien Beaumont) eventually returns to ‘earth’ after tuning in the right station on the waiting room radio and finds Airy and beats him up, which is what the contestants on the Plans hear. Airy spends months in the hospital but finally returns to his shenanigans.

i know this might sound random, and also kinda late, but about a year ago this appeared in my reccomended, i had never heard of one or the osc this series changed the perspective of some things in my life, and is by far one of the best series i have ever watched thank you for introducing me to it :)

The thing about one is that, thought it isn’t the first object show to go into some detail of Horror, it is the first to go into great detail and commit all the way to the horror that can be, object shows

The most reasonable theory is that they know something everyone else doesn’t Stone confirmed the votes were fake, the only two who knew were Liam and Bryce at the end of the episodes they had eyes as well signalling that they knew the votes were fake. And to answer the question of “Well they didn’t have eyes sometimes” it can be solved by saying they forgot, the animators forgot to add them, or they didn’t know what to do with the information

This is probably *one* of the greatest video I’ve seen on these sort of stuff.

I think i know how Airy injured himself, he probably sneezed which i think is what that happened and then slipped and broke his head just like how he got in a car crash and died leading up to going into a random planet and making the plane.

I think Airy might not be a human. They could possibly be another object who has somehow learned to teleport objects in a land unknown. When abstract tried to a form of possibly the true form of Airy it looks like that Airy too is an object. Edit: after reading this I realize that this can be taken as “but we already know this” or tons of other things
