you've achieved the ultimate goal, more treacherous than finding the one piece.

My theory is that Oda has his little kid self living rent-free in his head, going "Will our manga have monkeys? Will it have dogs? Will it have guns? Sky Islands? Golden cities?" all the time, and he's just learned to go with the flow and answer all the questions with "Yes." and included it in the story somehow.

You got it perfectly right. Because of how dangerous and large the sea is, the islands are very isolated from each other. Each island evolved at different speeds. Some still have dinosaurs inhabiting them. Others are highly advanced techno-islands. You could legit see a caveman fight a laser gun astronaut in this show. And because the cavemen would have spent those same years cultivating their skills with bashing things with clubs, they would have physical might to rival the power of the technology of the astronaut. Isolating the islands was one of Oda's greatest acts of genius. You literally never know what the next island is going to be like.

Don't be stressed out about rushing through the episodes. Watch it at a pace you'd be confortable with. Watching 4-6 episodes a day is awesome!

Welcome to the breathtaking wonderful world of One Piece! :D I've been a fan of the anime for around 18 years now. I've only discovered this Breathtaking World of One Piece video around a month ago, tbh. xD I was so overwhelmed by that video. It felt nostalgic to watch and the music used in the video was so appropriate, as it made the video for the world of One Piece much more mystical & enchanting. If you've enjoyed the live action then I truly believe you'll also enjoy the anime itself. Even if the anime has over 1000 episodes now, it's going to be extremely fun to binge-watch it because the adventure of the Strawhat Pirates will surely keep you hooked to the series! I think what makes that mix of Grounded and Fantasy work is that the Characters are also in Aw of the Fantastical elements. They are strange and exciting to them too, so it make it seem more grounded because they come from lives like ours without those things.

You are correct, Oda mashed fantasy with real life history. Some of the pirates and characters in One Piece are named and based off of real pirates, actors, musicians, and historical figures. Yeah and he pulled stuff from every culture and time periods ...also *FUTURE!*

This truly is one of the most beautiful pieces of fiction

Theres this ''my mom reacts to One Piece'' series, that's blown my mind.. the amount of symbolism and meaning within the East Blue arc alone is crazy.. from the Mom's pov, that is.. She a School teacher. One Piece isn't a show.. its a Journey.

Throughout me watching One Piece,i felt being more of an historian than a pirate because each island has it's own history, not only an island's but even their world

Yeah Oda's ass not well traveled! 🤣 he's been doing the manga weekly for 26 years which is crazy! And he even had to tone down his working schedule because he got physically sick but he used to only get 3-5 hours a sleep and use the remaining hours working on one piece only taking a break for eating and pooping 🤣

8:30a planet larger than Jupiter with 7 moons. 200,000+ islands (there are islands the size of Canada) and 1 continent. and 40 humanoid species have been revealed by now. Not race but spicies (human, Giant, dwarf, fishman EST)

Oda is an extremely cultured person. World culture and history.

usopp's nose not being long makes perfect sense in the live action and would be weird if he had a prosthetic nose. I think most people who are dissapointed by the lack of the nose is simply due to the sheer number of gags and jokes that occur because of usopp's nose. It's definitely not necessary though.its just one of those identifying characteristics on usopp but it would be completely weird for a series trying to appeal to general audiences to just have a character with a pinocchio nose for no real reason in universe

I mean the Pinocchio nose expressly draws the fact that he is a massive liar in his design. It is also a natural scope that makes him so good at shooting😂

This show outdoes any title by a large margin. There is a reason why the manga gets sold the most amount in any year for nearly two deacdes. It has everything. Also of a rare kind known as adventure battle shounen, which i think HxH is the only other.

Slow and steady is a good way to go. It's your journey, just do what you can and want to do.

I remember when I started watching the show it felt like an adventure. That’s what it feels like in FF14. Each expansion is an adventure.

One recommendation for how to potentially approach watching one piece. Watch it at your own time, and you can give feed back on the highlight moments as the series goes on. Or even just record yourself, and post shorts of your reactions to prominent clips. But would love to see commentary/ review at the end of major arcs, or fights. You could reasonably do watch alongs up untill the end of the east blue (before the grand line) But when grand line starts the major arcs start to get a lot longer, and would probably be best just to watch in your own free time.

Whenever you talk, you looked to the side like the monitor is someone you interact with face to face. even though you could look at the video and talk at the same time and look to the side only when you read comments? But that's just me.

Watching the English Openings could be cool (NOT the 4kids dub, which is kinda dope tho tbf); there are only a few of those.

May i suggest you to react to Gintama's openings? It's a comedic manga, that slowly becomes more and more serious, while still introducing bizzare and funny shenanigans, and it's OPs are, in my opinion, some of the greatest.

I think the word that fits best with the setting being in the middle of fantasy and real life, is *grounded* Not too realistic, but not over the top fantastical either, striking that perfect balance that is the breathtaking world of One Piece Edit : Just realised that it was said after going back a bit lol

I put One Piece in my top 3 alongside Naruto and Fairy Tail…im not exaggerating when I say it can be considered one of the greatest stories ever told,the anime has it’s problems but the manga…truly brilliant.

If you think reading the manga might be for you but you don't want to read out loud, there are a lot of people having great success reading a chapter or an arc (or anything in between, as you prefer) and then giving their opinion on what they've just read. You could look for Totally Not Mark, Merphy Napier or How To Train Your Gavin, if you would want to see how others have done it before. Or you could do the anime. Or you could do a mix. I dunno what would suit you, but just to say you don't have to do a direct reaction like with this video :)
