I felt like sharing A little story about my introduction to ONE PIECE, which I realized I was lucky to have missed the 4Kids version, and never ended up watching it. Some time around 2013 (Me Being 13-14 years old) I started having memories about this cartoon show I saw. All I remembered was that I was much younger than 13, and that I was flipping the channels while staying in a resort. On one channel, this cartoonish looking show was on. Me being a little kid, of course I took to Cartoons. All I remembered was a character on a piece of paper, with the word ‘Monkey’ at the bottom. And a I think a different scene where a Woman said she was about to cry. But a group of men would immediately went out of their way to give her tissues. There were a couple of really cheesy dialogue, but can’t remember all of them. But of course before i could watch even further, one of my Grandparents would switch the channels. Too much cartoons wasn’t very good, they would say! Fast forward back to 2013, I was recently new to the world of Anime and Manga. And at some point, i heard of ONE PIECE. Starting to watch it on my Anime list, I googled the characters. And to my surprise? The character that suddenly remembered, was Luffy. And eventually I found out that the one scene with the woman, was Alvida in Loguetown. However, I remembered the dialogue was different. Because I started off watching the Funimation Dub. So in a way. I think my Grandparents saved me from even experiencing 4Kids OnePiece, because I barely have any recollection of some of the bad moments at all 😂

@@hasifkhan4902 actually as far as i know op used to telecast on USA . 2 or 3 years after it was officially released and the channel that telecasted it on USA was 4kids. and just like the name says it was a kids channel so they can't afford to show blood violence on a kids show ( like people dying,guns, beer, cigrette and many more). So they edited most of it and the finale product is in front of you 💀

This is actually the series I watched when I first started watching one piece. After 4kids shut down, One Piece got moved to Toonami which got a whole new cast to replace the 4kids one. And with the cast change came the uncensored scenes as well as a new script translation. Keep in mind, I watched the anime first and switched to the manga right as ennies lobby ended. Until that point. I was wondering why Luffy was saying Gum Gum Pistol and Bazooka instead of Blast and Double Barrel. Bc that's what they were called when 4kids was still writing the English translation script. Blew my little mind for a few seconds.

I know this is a comparison video about censored vs 4kids, but man. It's crazy how far expectations have come with power. Watching Mihawk cut that boat in half was insane back then, and now Zoro is cutting enormous hills/boulders that are even bigger than the boats.

It kind of ruins many storylines. I'm not so sure about calling a woman the B word thing but I guess technically that doesn't fall under the categories mentioned.

It was referenced in the manga (and anime) in Whole Cake Island when it shows Sanji with a yellow lolipop. Oda confirmed in a later SBS that it indeed was him referencing the 4Kids dub :)

To explain Mihawk’s sword censorship, it was because it resembled a crucifix, and that can be offensive to some people for some reason. It also goes with his whole theme of death, so that may be another reason.
