The cleaning of every face of every trace of blood is absurd. The guy litterally has blades on his fingers ! How did they think the kids would be more shocked to see blood on a face than to see someone wanting to kill every member of his crew. At this point, none of their actions were coherent and none of this should has happened when they made the choice to accept broadcasting One Piece...

Cleaning up blood, I get, but it's like there's no cuts at all. Having black lines to represent bloodless cuts would at least look less jarring.

No one at 4Kids had actually watched One Piece before they bought the dubbing rights, so they thought it would be something like Sonic X or Tokyo Mew Mew, keep in mind that in Japan OP isn’t considered that mature of an anime.

We all dunk on the dumb changes but it's important to remember that a lot of these were because they legally couldn't show this stuff in a kids' show. Hell, the fact Kuro's plan remained completely unchanged would have been pushing the envelope at the time.

Because guns are dangerous and they don't want to show them to kids, duh. Although it was stupid to replace them with water guns because they still shoot bullets. If you think about it, that's even worse because something like this happens in real life. Sometimes real guns are disguised as toy guns which cause death, especially with kids. Kids get their hands on these gun thinking they are toys because they are disguised as toys. It's a real problem in some countries, look it up. Oh wait, 4KIDS doesn't want kids to discover that other countries exist, they want you to think only America exists.

One Piece isn’t even that graphic in the original, the censorship in this is absurd and ridiculous. Also Luffy’s dubbed voice is horrible.
