Many, many years ago, my small town had a cop that was commonly referred to as "Psycho". One day, the A&W Drive-in called the police because there was a large dog going from car to car begging for food handouts. The "officer" that caught the call was Psycho. When he got to the A&W, he asked where this "dangerous" dog was, and someone pointed out the dog. Without further ado, Psycho went to his car and emerged with a 12 gauge shotgun which he used to unceremoniously dispatch the poor dog RIGHT IN FRONT of everyone there trying to eat their lunch. Now Psycho had quite a history, as his nickname implies. He was FIRED from the police force for this atrocity, but less than two months later, he was hired as a deputy sheriff in a county across the state. Three years later, he became SHERIFF of that county!!! Two years later, he was run out of that county for shooting a guy. Don't know what ever happened to him after that. Maybe he's a cop or deputy in YOUR town. See the problem?

@@Save_America I think he's doing better now. I say I think because he was never the type to complain. In fact leading up to his diagnosis part of what made it worse for him was that he thought it was just normal work type pain at first so he thought he should just bite the bullet. He said little things here and there but we didn't know how bad it really was. Finally one night my mom saw him with his head in his hands in the kitchen sweating profusely and she asked what was wrong and he said "I'm sorry but if I don't get to a doctor I think I'm going to have to shoot myself.". Needless to say that made an impression. I think he's on meds now for the long term neuralgia that help but I'll never know how bad it really is.

Police aren’t supposed to train officers this way, individual cops come up with their own off the wall ways of handling a situation which is by all standards illegal, but departments don’t stop them from using this behavior until a prosecutor or judge flags it, then it gets reversed back to the department, insane!

Too many video games.

Sick and tired of all these excuses by police and their supervisors defending each other. Get fired for this kind of thing should be a lifetime ban and let the public decide his fate not their comrades.

As part of a reform initiative, it should be a law that all disciplinary actions against an officer must follow them everywhere they go.

The effect of police and their egotistical narcissism while being jacked up on steroids and methamphetamine.

So here is the perfect story to show to the "blue lines" crowd. We're having to give criminals plea deals because the officers are so out of control. This guy is going to back on the street quicker because we sent a criminal to stop a criminal. The system is broken

The citizens need to take care of him before it is to late.

Dime a dozen, psychopaths who become cops! I am grateful for your efforts in bringing awareness to the public and the courts. Wasn't so long ago nobody would have known or believed in the insanity that is our public servants.

Crazy....100% should never have a weapon on the job and especially off.

The agency that hires a cop, and the agent hires the cio, who was let go for these kinds of reasons should be held accountable for these actions also

The 19 year old is far far from innocent here but this cop is on a powertrip. Bored cops can be the most dangerous ones.

yea cops harassed my brother coming home from work like a week ago violated his rights for absolutely no reason because he was scared and tired it being 11pm at night in a ditch neighborhood like ours they got his id, frisked him, and had no legal right to but eh rights dont matter, lawsuits cant help us if we're dead

Listen, I get what you are trying to say, but you just watched a video of a cop who had a loooooooooong history of being abusive and rude as he was violating the law and your conclusion was "that victim must have deserved it" because apparently according to all his buddies this cop was experiencing a bunch of ups and downs and I legitimately hope you can think about why. Maybe, Mr. Dave Blackman, you have some unconscious biases you might want to consider.

Problem officers are problems. The departments were warned with the complaints about his behavior. Tax payers are paying for these bad hiring practices.

The DA can file charges for excessive force and get this guy's police certification revoked . This chief needs held accountable.

Well those departments and cities are also to blame because they are willfully hiring cops that are out of control thus a liability to any department or city.

I didn't know Edgewater hired psychopaths. Thanks for your excellent journalism, WTPU.

For those not aware. As of June 26th 675 people have been killed by the police this year.

Pop-psyche time. The cop has constructed a narrative about himself as a no nonsense, tough gun toting hero. It's all about himself. His new employer has endorsed his behaviour by not firing him. Not sure a few sessions with a shrink is going to make a ha'p'orth of difference

What does one have to do to lose their police license?! Basically, that police chief is saying a criminal can be a police officer and keep his job.

And he is caring a loaded gun. In some states that would get any one of us red flagged and stripped of our rights. Yet we don't get to investigate ourselves and clear ourselves of any wrongdoing. Discussing and dangerous.
