Today we unboxing a very special Orient Mako. Made to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Mako, which is one of the most popular entry level divers, and one that was the first serious watch for many, it is a Mako that we know and love, but elevated on a new level looks wise thanks to some unique details. The wave pattern on the dial, the gold colored hands and logo and a black and blue bezel insert as well as Anniversary Edition placed neatly in an almost hidden way on the dial make for one of a kind Mako. Limited to 3000 pieces with each one being numbered, it is a gerat addition to a collection, especially if you are a Mako fan.
The watch is powered by Orient in-house made caliber F6922 that beats at 21.600 bph and comes with both hacking and hand winding, while at the same time losing the additional button for the day of the week setting, that the first generation had, and moving the said function to the crown, in my opinion a better and more elegant solution.
the crystal is sapphire, while the bracelet is left unchacnged with solid links but also hollow end links and stamped out clasp. That is the one area where Orient should step up their game as microbrands offer better specs at half the price. Of course Orient as a brand has more history and that brings some value to the table, but it was also always "bang for buck" watch, so it would be great to see them match microbrands in specs at least. None the less, the watch is gorgeous and just like any Mako, while still being original in design, manages to capture the 5 digit Rolex wearing feel due to its great proportions and size.

I never understand why the lack of a diver's extension is an issue... unless you are actually using it to dive.

Depends on a person, my wrist really has a HUGE difference over a day, especially during hot summers, so having the ability to tighten or loosen a bracelet on the fly is really great. If you wear your bracelets on the loose side, you're fine without it
Orient are one my favourites, I have three, a JDM Panda Chronograph, a Tristar dress watch, and a 2011 orange bezel Mako XL which at 44.5mm it might be a bit big for some. This is a cool watch, but I don't like this limited edition trend. Seiko already does it too much, I'd hate to see Orient doing the same thing. Excellent video as always.
Orient watches are solid. I especially appreciate the very readable hands and the smooth case backs.
I have an Orient Star RE-AU0201E00B. It's a field watch. Fantastic watch. As good as any watch. Uses terrific materials and see through case back. Got mine a a great price but find prices can be very high from some dealers.

So many of them are hard to beat with what they offer in value. Not to mention it’s nice knowing we are supporting something small and growing.
Unfortunately the bracelet makes this watch not so special. Thank you for bringing it to us though.
Orient is realy underated and have reputation of poor asian brands,made for philipine or vietnam customers,i have one very critiquized by youtuber,the super king crystal reissue,i love it she bad a very nice old fashion look and she work great,better than some seiko i have...good quality,the only regrets is the cheap bracelet,but i think they need to find an iconic model who will chanve there imave,like citizen do with the tsuyosa and serie8...
