I am a recovering alcoholic and drug addict. The 21st of June I will celebrate 19 years. You should be very proud, my friend because we are warriors. I read somewhere once that recovery doesn't unlock the gates of Heaven and let us in. It unlocks the gates of Hell and lets us out. My unsolicited advice is something that has gotten me through rough patches and it is simply this.NEVER, NEVER BECOME UNGRATEFUL. Once again be strong, be proud, remain grateful and humble🙏❤

Sobering up is so agonising. I have so much fear about how that felt, it spurs me to carry on my journey. I sobered up 29th Dec 2017 and I never ever want to feel that sketchy, jumpy, sweaty, palpitations, paranoia, hideous dreams, crap sleep, restlessness, spiders in the carpets, feeling of impending doom, evil being present feeling ever again. 🙏🏽. Thanks for sharing. It’s invaluable.

This was interesting to hear i like hearing about other peoples stories. Not gonna lie I’ve been really stressing out about relapsing because I’m so depressed and stressed out and I’m trying to do things so distract myself till the feeling passes. Over 15 years of this crap for me and sometimes I’m just so tired of it. I usually don’t listen to other peoples stories Iike this because i don’t like to think about all the stuff I’ve had to go through to get where i am today but i think that’s maybe why i came across your channel. I think this was gods way of reminding me there are so many people out there that have gone through the same thing as me and that im not alone. I think a major problem for me is i moved 5 thousand miles away from where i grew up and i relapsed when i moved out here but have been sober for a year now but i don’t talk to anyone I’m a complete hermit which i do like it that way but sometimes it gets hard. I have complex PTSD and struggle with bipolar and i have a hard time leaving my house but I’ve always been like this. But coming across your channel brought me a sort of comfort and reminded me I’m not alone so thanks I appreciate it.

I was lucky that I didn't have the face bloat, but my wife did and you're right that you don't notice it until you get sober and the difference between her now and then, again, is like a different person.

I know right brother??? Looking back it’s terrifying. I really had no clue. One day I looked back and saw my face and my jaw dropped. OMG so much all at one time. I’ve had foot injuries but nothing like u experienced. That is horrific. I’m so sorry you went thru that. Ur certainly finding out who ur friends ARE NOT. How is ur foot doing now❓. No surgery I hope.

I had a similar experience in that I lost a relationship of almost 10 years from my drinking. Both you and LD had mentioned that you had an almost Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde scenario going on with your personality, and I can totally relate. I behaved in ways that I could never imagine now, I was disrespectful in ways I can't presently imagine and I said come things that I'm so ashamed of. I received unnecessary injuries during my nightmare and I lived a life that's now so foreign to me. It was a complete and total nightmare. I'm so glad that we woke up from it. I am so proud of you for not only 4 months of sobriety, but for obtaining it by wanting it for yourself. If ever you find yourself struggling, take a look at your own testimonial, because it's so inspiring, friend!! We've got this! Keep walking that path! Thanks for keeping me company on mine!! 🙏💖

I did things said things when I was drinking that I’m beyond ashamed and embarrassed about, so I totally understand where you’re coming from. @Slayer-7373 i don't mind sharing! I wasn't keeping track, so I thought it was about 2 years, but it's been 1 year and 9 months for me. I had a few slip ups within that. (4, but who's counting? 😅) I immediately moved on every time, though, and didn't dwell on it. My heavy drinking career was 10 years, so I still feel like a toddler in all this. Haha it's been a crazy ride since then, but even my hardest day is 10x better than my easiest day drinking.

Absolutely, that’s why I started this whole channel, to get this message out to as many as possible and to spread awareness about alcohol. So many people grow up not knowing the truth about alcohol, even I did and I was surrounded by alcoholics. I never truly knew how bad it could get till I was in that disaster myself. People often talk about their girlfriends or boyfriends leaving them because of their drinking, but I never had that problem. I usually drink because im lonely and the alcohol takes that lonely feeling away for a short while.

Checking out some of your older videos. My latest one has some explicit descriptions of my most awful drunk experience. You did have a big 'ole moon face. I kind of had the same thing happen with my ex-girl. I heard she was calling my folks all drunk. Meanwhile, I was in detox wondering what was going on the outside. You talk about the most hopeless, helpless and lonely feeling. It sucks. Our phones were taken away. We couldn't even call anyone until we had been there four days. We had no TVs in the detox unit.

With your honest stories, you are a great motivational help speaker.

You mentioned still healing from the emotional turmoil of what happened with your ex. I just wanted to acknowledge that healing becomes much easier when you're not in the bottle. Physically, mentally, emotionally. Alcohol just keeps us in arrested development. Congrats on 4 months and keep it up.

I knew I was the one out of us 2 girls cousins to get cancer. 6 out of 7 cousins are addicts/alcoholics

You do whatever it takes brother, if you need medical detox I would go to be safe. If you can do it at home cool but then maybe start going to AA, goto counseling, write a journal on your addiction. Show people that you are serious about being an alcoholic. I honestly find it crazy when people don’t believe us when we tell them point blank that we are alcoholics. Sometimes they really have to see to believe. Please be safe, alcohol leads nowhere but pain and emptiness. Possibly even death, reclaim your life back again you’ve done it before which means you have it inside you brother. Keep me updated please 🙏🙏

@@Slayer-7373 I’ll keep you updated I’ve been involved with several drugs including fentanyl a few times. Alcohol kicked me back because I have no money and it’s everywhere so why not steal and that’s just lead up to this so I’m real scared to tell my mom that I’m stealing but at this point I’m just scared of hallucinating from all the alcohol usage.

If your girlfriend leaves you because of an alcohol problem, you check into rehab and she still won’t talk to you, she left for another compelling reason as well. Perhaps anger management or something along those lines?

Over time I’d like to tell you they’ve lessened (after 13yrs of trauma therapy) However for me my inner child still reacts. If anyone has ever made you out to feel less than you are NOT!
