One Of Britain’s Toughest Men Tells His Story
James English, The Anything Goes Show Ep81.
The story of Barrington Patterson (One Eye Baz)
Blinded in one eye his tormentors called him 'One Eye' or 'Cyclops'; it could have instilled a victim mentality in him, but instead he became a fighter. One by one, those who tormented him would get their comeuppance.. In his turbulent teenage years, 'Baz' adopted a criminal lifestyle. He went from Rude Boy to Casual and became a leading figure in Birmingham City FC's Zulu Warriors. When not training in martial arts or proving himself as a cage fighter, he also cut a powerful figure in Coventry's clubland where he ran its toughest doors. For all his ferocious reputation, One-eyed Baz reveals a character of great warmth and loyalty, a charismatic figure strong enough to embrace the combat sport of cage fighting and prove himself 'King of the Ring'. One-eyed Baz will surely be lauded as a classic of the hard-man genre

If you were to ask anyone about Barrington, they would all say "he helped me" and that's all he ever did, helped people. R.I.P, Baz. You'll be missed but never forgotten 🙏

He did what all fans did in the day. Went to the Den. Found it funn6 about Millwall fan as so am i. Can imagine one of our iwn doing that. Some are notbtoo clever. Believe Barrington was a kick boxer . But the Zulus in their day had a good .mob. He did massive good for so many people. He was a legend to a lot of people who he helped. A decent human being. Rip.

Quality bloke, Baz. I got lost on a train home from Norwich and ended up at Birmingham New Street. Made the mistake of going in a local pub (alone, dressed for the occasion and out of place) got a few lads giving me grief outside when Baz came out and warned them off. Didn't know the guy and he could of slapped me himself if he wanted. He knew I weren't there for trouble and looked out for me. Not sure if he would remember or not. Probably been 10 years since. Ended up having a drink talking about our teams results that day. Something I'll never forget. Absolute gent
Had to come back to this after the devastating news. Rest easy Baz. Legend.
Met baz back in 2010 at one of my mma fights at bescott stadium, he came over and congratulated me on my win, chatted with him for about 20 minutes, lovely guy, handshake like a vice, rest easy big man 👊🏻

Yeah I met him at a match once. My hand still hurts from his hand shake and his hands were like shovels. And as usual, he went out out of his way to help and give me some great advice that I still put into practice to this day. An absolute legend and gent, till the end.
The great thing with this channel is James makes it a conversation not an interview . He listens and is interested.
Rest in peace big baz zulu warrior respect from cardiff city soul crew🏴🏴🙏🏽🙏🏽

Despite his Zulu connection can't help but respect the guy. Ever since he grabbed hold of a blues keyboard warrior who had been abusing villas captain, about the fact he'd lost his little brother ,he made the kid apologise to the villa players family and took him down the homeless shelter to dish out meals

Absolute Gent!!! Such a down to earth modest genuine guy is big baz!!! Legend
Sad news. Baz passed away last nite from a heart attack. Many good times working with him in Coventry. Fly high mate. 🙏🙏🙏
When he mentioned the Britains Hardest Man show, that struck a chord, about having that reputation. My sister was dating a guy a long time ago. He was 5'10" and a slight muscular build. He could fight, no boxing/martial arts background, he could just fight. Never never saw him start a fight, never saw him walk away from a fight. If someone was bullying someone, he'd be straight to their rescue. A really nice guy. Whenever my sister and him went out he would end up fighting, which, after 7 years she finished it because of all the trouble. His problem was his size, or rather his lack of it. People knew his name/reputation and whenever people actually saw him they were like "him, that's him, watch this" and would start a scrap just because they thought they would have him easy. Many learned the hard way.............
