ive watched JP daily for a complete year. never watched your content before, but i just want to say after watching for 35 seconds. i dont like the constant camera switching. I will be listening in to get the good stuff JP has to offer, but i know if this wasnt someone i really wanted to hear i couldnt watch your videos. i really dont like leaving bad reviews but some people cant visually take constant images switching. I cleaned up my room today. And changed some light bulbs that were not working. All of these were tasks I had been procrastinating on. And then I watched this video. I'm proud of myself and my progress today. :)

Psilocybin saved my life. I was addicted to heroin for 15 years and after Psilocybin treatment I will be 3 years clean in September. I have zero cravings. This is something that truly needs to be more broadly used in addiction treatment.

The Trips I've been having have really helped me a lot,I finally feel in control of my emotions and my future and things that used to be mundane to me now seem incredible and full of nuance on top of that I'm way less driven by my ego and I have alot more empathy as well

I love that he didn’t apologize for crying. He just sat in his emotions because he knows they are ok and natural. One does not apologize for laughter because laughter is comfortable. Tears are uncomfortable, especially in front of others hence the “oh god, tears again”. But no apology. Apologizing for bringing discomfort to a situation through one’s emotions would imply that one’s emotions are less important than the emotions of those being apologized to. Watching that was personally profound. Bravo sir!

He should though, the last two years or so it's all he's been doing in almost every interview/talk. It doesn't really feel profound anyore after the 4th or 5th time you see him tear up in a dialog that is meant to become online content. This video literally starts out with him crying. Because he apparently carries all these deep and profound emotions relating to his experiences as the voice and saviour of so many repressed, hurt and damaged people. I mean I just saw a video of him today, where as he was "supressing" tears, was talking about how orthodox Jews called him "Rabbi". (Which seems a little far fetched, but it could be true) And this was such an honour that he couldn't keep it together talking about it at a much later and unrelated moment. I agree that you can feel emotional, that emotions can well up while reflecting on things or remembering stuff. And it's totally okay as a man to show that. And sure it's great if people don't apologise for crying, except that it's normal when you're talking to a stranger and not a close friend or loved one, especially when you're being recorded for the whole world to see. Dr Peterson has a right to his emotions, but it's getting weird and has started to feel manipulative and fake.

Steven, thank you for providing a safe place for him to express himself. You said maybe 10 words and this was better than any interview I've ever seen. You have a gift.

sure yes in the simplest of terms, but that is assuming people watching haven't set goals and that they give up. following this simple design eventually you will go in circles unless you dig down deeper into why you often don't reach your goals as planned. otherwise you will just put in effort, fall down, get up put in effort etc like a mouse on a wheel. maybe the goals are other people's goals or maybe they don't work in the current economic climate or in your particular region...

Jordan Peterson is carrying so much weight and trauma from all of the millions of people he has helped. It is so hard to hold in those emotions, and seeing Jordan trying so hard to hold the emotions in as he is speaking truly is hard. It is hard to do, to be able to function properly with all of those emotions inside yourself. He is doing gods works. Thank you, Jordan Peterson.✊🏼❤️

It makes me wonder sometimes if what we're seeing as you mentioned the weight and trauma from all the people he has helped, if that was something similar to what Robin Williams may have been feeling leading up to his tragic end. Not implying a similar fate is in store for Jordan Peterson, not at all, but was this a glimpse of what was possibly behind closed doors for Williams as well. Very raw interview, but very truthful. his podcast with theo von I would say is the most comfortable he's been, as he was actually laughing multiple times. This was I guess a less superficial/more in depth podcast that allowed him to breath and brooch more serious topics while not feeling challenged.

Also, had some different talking points than the usual! Which is a credit to the interviewer too.

I feel like Jordan's carrying the worlds burdens on his shoulder, such an intelligent yet complex man seemingly still battling his own demons of anxiety and maybe depression. Great podcast, insightful, emotional and fulfilling! Keep doing what you do J.P!

Aren't we all? A living breathing human being has to be battling some form of demons if they are attempting to live meaningfully. If this conversation was simply a head exercise, it would not have been half as inspiring. Dr. Peterson marries intellection and humanity in a way that is rare to come across in one's lifetime.

That’s what I really love about him. Everyone says “ oh well he clearly doesn’t take his own advice wasn’t he in rehab for drug addiction” it’s like he never said he was perfect and that it was easy for him to do these things. He’s human and he makes mistakes. That’s why I love him.

@@britneyalyssa1314 maybe saying he is not perfect is just not really suffcient. This man was under immense pressure with his breakthru on the internet what was meaningfull but also very though on him as he said in his awnser to the question 'how are you doing?'. His whife who he has a deep relation with and leans upon was diagnosed with cancer during this time. I guess my point is that there are things so tragic in live that they will knock you down regardless of how well you have set your live up.

Not to be cynical, he would not have come so far and came back up as fast as he did if he didn't have his live in order. I just have much sympathy for what happend to him.

JP is an example of the one of the best versions of what humans can be with all good intentions. a balance of intellectuality and humanity.

DNA evidence proves we have the exact same soul Uniquely different male female Of human being. We are all 100% identical The only differences are Colors, facial features, cultures, language, shapes, sizes, vibrations and soul = electrons protons neutrons of our nucleic acids composing our chromosomes X and Y the ones we use to determine if it’s gonna be a boy or girl donated by the male.

As I sit here in tears, just letting the gravity of this conversation wash over my soul, I realize this is another great piece of the puzzle I am still trying to understand, let alone solve. What a wonderful piece. A true contribution to the human psyche. Thank you.

Sorry, my friend, but the only lesson you should take from this is that we're very easily emotionally manipulated and that Peterson knows exactly how to do so. (for instance by recording his messages, not when he's stable and clearheaded, but when he's all choked up and emotional himself. Or do you think this isn't a deliberate choice of his? Do you not know that these things are recorded in several (often _many)_ "takes," in between which he composes himself to get in that mood again, to then choose the most effective parts to be edited together to be uploaded? Peterson is a psychology prof. by trade. And, just as _yawning_ is contagious, he knows that acting all emotional will have that effect on the viewers too. THAT is why you _'sit there in tears'._ Life can be hard and confusing, and Peterson is exploiting that, like many demagogues throughout human history have done. Nothing new, and nothing _good._

Cause "trolls" don't even mean what they say, so why would you take note, or, let alone _consider_ what they've uttered, right? To just ignore whatever doesn't align with your already cherished conceptions about reality is great if you don't like to be challenged. It's also a great way to remain wrong about certain things and never gain any new insights, though.

He's not depressed melancholic types are generally a bit morose unlike schizoid who acts out ...he's working hard and probably tired. That much analysis is exhausting. Jordan Peterson has been abusing morphine for a while and been into rehab(just Google it). His self-defence response was he didn't know morhine(opium) was addictive. Really?! For someone who is "educated" in the medical field and has "found the way of living" would have the discipline to quit abusing drugs and even known that this behavior is destructive.

I could remember several years ago I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Was actually addicted to cigarettes and alcohol. Not until my wife recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 11 years totally clean. Shrooms are God- sents.

I am the same - even if it isnt completely relevant, i try to pick out what is relevant to me and add to my personal bank of knowledge and insight. I think Peterson is used to mostly interacting with the more extreme case of people - the ones who _need_ some sort of outside direction, but reject it like a brick wall rejects an egg.

I have to say that Steven, you are a great interviewer and listener. The way, after you asked Jordan how he was doing, you allowed an extended silence (where 99% would have filled the space) to almost permit Jordan to contemplate and gather his thoughts before speaking, was powerful.

It's a pretty invasive question to be asked on camera when your wife has cancer and you are coming back from brain damage. He knew he wasn't doing great and wanted to force some sentimental moment for views.

Watching it over the second time, the part where JP answered “How are you doing” with “wonderfully and terribly” was incredibly profound. Human emotions are so wonderfully complex and to distill us into one singular moment is to do us a disservice.

A great quote. I'm a psychologist myself and although it's tempting to talk, it's best just to listen. If "we" begin drowning the patient or friend etc with what we believe is great suggestions/help we risk that they zone out/fall asleep/daydreaming etc. I have spent many hours listening to patients - and barely saying anything myself, and afterwards they thank me for listening and showing interest.

He's the most genuine person I've ever seen. A massive inspiration, let alone a gold vein with information. So much wisdom in a single person, when you see this you simply want to stop and appreciate this marvel. He has no filters, just patterns. He speaks of spirituality and science in the same sentence in a way to make you see the middle ground. One of the most influential people of my live!

This fact converted the French scientist Maurice to Islam and wrote a book entitled the Holy Qur’an on the scale of modern science ‏How did Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, know this fact before? ‏ The Almighty says: ((And the heaven We constructed)) ‏ The sky is a building, not a vacuum as it was thought, and this was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2017 that proved it ‏How did Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, know this fact before? ‏The Almighty’s saying: ((And the heaven We constructed with strength, and indeed, We are [its] expander. )). ‏ That is, the sky expands with time. This fact, even in the time of Einstein, was not imagined by anyone and it was proven. And Einstein admitted it and admitted that it was the biggest scientific mistake he made in his life if he believed that the sky was fixed. The Qur’an before Einstein says that the sky expands ‏fact ‏ Almighty’s saying: :((And We have made the night and day two signs, and We erased the sign of the night and made the sign of the day visible that you may seek bounty from your Lord and may know the number of years and the account [of time]. And everything We have set out in detail. )) ‏ The verse of the night is the moon and the verse of the day is the sun. The Qur'an tells that the sun and the moon were fiery masses. That is, the moon was a fiery mass and was erased, and the verse of the day remained visible to the eyes. Was the moon a fiery mass and extinguished? This is one of the biggest scientific issues discovered about the moon. The moon was already a fiery mass, and NASA issued on its official website a conceptual clip entitled The Evolution of the Moon in the video. In fact, the moon was a fiery mass like the sun, and this is what the Qur’an told about and the truth of modern science. ‏How did Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, know this fact before? ‏Almighty’s saying ‏And you see the mountains thinking that they are rigid, while you will cross as the passage of clouds. [It is] the work of God who has perfected everything. In fact, he knows what you're doing.)) ‏ And the verse clearly spoke of a strange phenomenon, which is that the viewer of the mountains appears to him still, that is, they are still, but in fact they are not like that, rather they are in a state of constant movement. And the infidels of Quraish had previously accused our master Muhammad, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, of madness, and it is likely that their joy was overwhelming when this verse was revealed. ‏ They also found in it, according to their claim, evidence of this madness, and they told the people: How can you believe this man who says that these fixed mountains move like clouds moving in the sky! ‏ And today it is proven that the earth rotates, and with it the mountains, how did Muhammad know that and why is he telling you instead of the matter that makes people consider him crazy? The matter was not from him, but from God. Almighty’s saying ‏Those whom Allah (in His plan) willeth to guide,- He openeth their breast to Islam; those whom He willeth to leave straying,- He maketh their breast close and constricted, as if they had to climb up to the skies: thus doth Allah (heap) the penalty on those who refuse to believe)). ‏After man was able to reach the sky by flying by modern means of transportation, he knew that the higher up in the air, the less oxygen and atmospheric pressure, which causes severe tightness in the chests and the process of breathing. : ‏How did Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, know this fact before? It was not from him, but from God Almighty’s saying ‏Or (the Unbelievers' state) is like the depths of darkness in a vast deep ocean, overwhelmed with billow topped by billow, topped by (dark) clouds: depths of darkness, one above another: if a man stretches out his hands, he can hardly see it! for any to whom Allah giveth not light, there is no light! ‏Modern sciences have revealed that in the bottom of the deep seas with abundant water - the deep sea - there is great darkness, to the extent that living creatures live in this darkness without visual tools, but live using their other senses such as hearing. ‏These dark darknesses are not found in the sea water that surrounds the Arabian Peninsula, but rather they have been discovered in the oceans far from it ‏This verse shows another aspect of the Qur’anic miracle, which is that the sea wave that all people only knew was one wave in the seas. ‏The verse says there is another wave in the depths of the sea, and divers discovered at the beginning of the twentieth century a fact that was hidden in the depths of the sea, that fact that shows another wave that throws divers into it as it is thrown at swimmers, and this wave was discovered by Scandinavian divers. I will tell you what the Prophet said. The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: One day the Bedouins who live in the desert will build tall towers, and this is my duty. Go and see where the tallest buildings are and who owns them. ‏God Almighty: ((We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. But is it not sufficient concerning your Lord that He is, over all things, a Witness?) And God informed the Qur’an of this by saying: “Did you think that we created you without a purpose and that you would never return to us?” ‏All these and other matters that I have not mentioned indicate that this is a prophet from God. More important than that, as I told you, is the only religion that commands you to worship one Creator, who created everything and before him many prophets. ‏Say, if you wish, there is no god but God, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God ‏ speak from the heart ً

I like it when Jordan got to the 40 minutes and got on the subject of what's affecting us now. It needs to be addressed. ❤

Recessions are part of the economic cycle, all you can do is make sure you're prepared and plan accordingly. I graduated into a recession (2009). My 1st job after college was aerial acrobat on cruise ships. Today I'm a VP at a global company, own 3 rental properties, invest in stocks and biz, built my own business, and have my net worth increase by $2.6m in the last 4 years

I think that Jordan Peterson is different from most of the population. Not just in terms of his education, but the way in which his brain works. His speed in answering and his articulation without hesitation is extraordinary. His own sensitivity, reducing him to tears when he speaks about other people's suffering is so touching.

What a cry babe, crying in behalf of others, sounds like a liberal to me.

Although I am a revolutionary socialist, I watch some Jordan Peterson videos nearly daily and I often agree with him. I respect him deeply and I'm grateful for his contribution to humanity despite our political differences. This podcast is exceptional and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I am a huge fan of Steven's podcast as well!

Hey brother, I love Jordan Peterson but you’re not a slouch yourself. You’re very good at what you do. It’s a pleasure that I found you. I don’t know how I did but it’s an absolute pleasure to watch you do your thing.

I don’t think he’s carrying the weight of others trauma, I think he’s just a extremely empathetic and sensitive person and the profound pain that so many people are in is painful to realize, especially when no one in social media or media is doing anything about it. He’s fighting for people somewhat alone.

I cried for the first time since the pandemic because of this guy. He's like a raw Nerve.

Wow, what an interview.. Jordan Peterson is an incredible figure. He made so many powerful statements, things I'd never heard, and things I wasn't prepared for! He just comes from a whole different paradigm of perspective. And all the lives he's not only touched but also changed in such profound ways.. what an amazing human being! Thank you.

That man gets so many questions, about this and that, and the one question he really wanted was an authentic “how are you doing?” That’s a powerful moment right there. The simple things that some people take for granted, like that question, meant a mile for him…

And that the interviewer could genuinely ask him how he was doing and not just for an answer for the sake of the interview. I think Jorden felt he was genuine. He’s a very talented.

He is doing what God put him here to do. He is truly a blessing to those he's touch. I'm sure his journey isn't over yet. I pray for those who are in the trenches, doing what they are sent here to do.

wow i know this aired 12 months ago but truth never ages ... have just found it ...the most needed conversation for all the young ppl starting out and in fact it doesnt matter how old you are as long as you have ears to hear eyes to see or fingers for braille this man is a gift for all to absorb and ponder the lessons that are in his words ...fantastic !!!

I really appreciate people who are authentic, real, and sincere. What he said about these prepackaged questions designed with an intention is so true, and i feel very disingenuous of the individuals who wield it. I like his honest, straight forward approach, I think it requires a tremendous amount of bravery in the face of people who are so very afraid of hearing the truth. I feel being our true authentic selves is more important and necessary than ever before because we miss out on the most wonderful relationships and experiences otherwise. Appreciate your interviewing style, your questions were insightful.😀

This man is a true human hero. He stands up for his belief and knowledge, fearless - apparently; true courage is acknowledging risks, having fear and do the right things anyway. He is not shy of crying when issues touches him. That is rare courage, that is GIVING. Real commitment. I'm 63 and have never seen anybody I admire more. I wish I could say "met" but even the distance of the web cannot diminish the shine of of good person.

@@fancynancylucillenegative? This man is almost always happy, but one needs to see the darkness in order to stay in the light. He is not euphemistic and he says what he thinks very plainly but he’s not negative and frankly not mad like ever, except for the rare unpleasant interview.

Yes, there can be serious consequences to speaking YOUR TRUTH in a world looking to validate it's own faulty belief systems, but what Jordan is saying is speak it anyway for your sake. Just be very careful how you word your truth so that you aren't hurting someone else with your words. Try not to speak at all out of anger. I love everything Jordan says & so want to emulate what he is saying we need to be. I have been working towards this goal my whole life,, but didn't know it until he defined it. He is a profound role model to all human beings. If you did what he says, you could only improve your life & those around you. ♥️🙏

This fact, even in the time of Einstein, was not imagined by anyone and it was proven. And Einstein admitted it and admitted that it was the biggest scientific mistake he made in his life if he believed that the sky was fixed. The Qur’an before Einstein says that the sky expands ‏fact ‏ Almighty’s saying: :((And We have made the night and day two signs, and We erased the sign of the night and made the sign of the day visible that you may seek bounty from your Lord and may know the number of years and the account [of time]. And everything We have set out in detail. )) ‏ The verse of the night is the moon and the verse of the day is the sun. The Qur'an tells that the sun and the moon were fiery masses. This is one of the biggest scientific issues discovered about the moon. And the infidels of Quraish had previously accused our master Muhammad, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, of madness, and it is likely that their joy was overwhelming when this verse was revealed. ‏ They also found in it, according to their claim, evidence of this madness, and they told the people: How can you believe this man who says that these fixed mountains move like clouds moving in the sky! ‏ And today it is proven that the earth rotates, and with it the mountains, how did Muhammad know that and why is he telling you instead of the matter that makes people consider him crazy? The matter was not from him, but from God. Almighty’s saying ‏Those whom Allah (in His plan) willeth to guide,- He openeth their breast to Islam; those whom He willeth to leave straying,- He maketh their breast close and constricted, as if they had to climb up to the skies: thus doth Allah (heap) the penalty on those who refuse to believe)). ‏After man was able to reach the sky by flying by modern means of transportation, he knew that the higher up in the air, the less oxygen and atmospheric pressure, which causes severe tightness in the chests and the process of breathing. : ‏How did Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, know this fact before? It was not from him, but from God Almighty’s saying ‏Or (the Unbelievers' state) is like the depths of darkness in a vast deep ocean, overwhelmed with billow topped by billow, topped by (dark) clouds: depths of darkness, one above another: if a man stretches out his hands, he can hardly see it! for any to whom Allah giveth not light, there is no light! ‏Modern sciences have revealed that in the bottom of the deep seas with abundant water - the deep sea - there is great darkness, to the extent that living creatures live in this darkness without visual tools, but live using their other senses such as hearing. ‏These dark darknesses are not found in the sea water that surrounds the Arabian Peninsula, but rather they have been discovered in the oceans far from it ‏This verse shows another aspect of the Qur’anic miracle, which is that the sea wave that all people only knew was one wave in the seas. ‏The verse says there is another wave in the depths of the sea, and divers discovered at the beginning of the twentieth century a fact that was hidden in the depths of the sea, that fact that shows another wave that throws divers into it as it is thrown at swimmers, and this wave was discovered by Scandinavian divers. I will tell you what the Prophet said. The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: One day the Bedouins who live in the desert will build tall towers, and this is my duty. Go and see where the tallest buildings are and who owns them. ‏God Almighty: ((We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. But is it not sufficient concerning your Lord that He is, over all things, a Witness?) And God informed the Qur’an of this by saying: “Did you think that we created you without a purpose and that you would never return to us?” ‏All these and other matters that I have not mentioned indicate that this is a prophet from God. More important than that, as I told you, is the only religion that commands you to worship one Creator, who created everything and before him many prophets. ‏Say, if you wish, there is no god but God, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God ‏ speak from the heart ً
