One Day in Beautiful Charleston, South Carolina - Traveling Robert

One day in Charleston, South Carolina. In my one day visit, I tour Fort Sumter, the historic downtown, the Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon, Rainbow Row, Waterfront Park, the East Battery with all its antebellum mansions, White Point Garden, the Calhoun Mansion, Saint Michael's Church, Washington Square, Saint Philip's Church, the historic City Market, and much more.
I also drive on the Arthur Ravenel Bridge, and meet up with a viewer at a barbecue joint called Swig & Swine
I stayed at James Island County Park
We travel aboard a 2015Winnebago Micro Minnie 1706FB travel trailer. You are more than welcome to tag along in our travels by subscribing to this channel.

Love this immensely, and so glad to see your mom enjoying the trip along with you! Very cool to actually get to see things like Ft. Sumter! Later I read about the history of this fort, and learned that it's on an "article island". The townsmen and military used boatload after boatload of sand and rocks to create the island. Amazing how much effort, strength and determination it took to create this historical island!

Why C-17s and C-130s circle the block: military pilots (and others, I think) have requirements for how many hours they must fly to keep their licenses, and how many times they must land and take off. So they practice what is called touch-and-go landing, circling to get back in line to land, then taking off again without stopping. They will circle like that until they get a few of their required hours of flying and landing time. I spent some time at an Air National Guard base as a child, so I enjoy seeing them doing this.

Thanks for the tour of Charleston. We visited about 9 years ago and loved it. You showed us many areas that we walked through and many sites. In your video, unless I missed it, I didn't see the Pineapple fountain at Waterfront Park. The fountain is beautiful and quite unique. Thanks for this tour. AND all the others you've taken us to. Keep on traveling Robert!

Another great video and reminding me about places i also been to. Such great memories I haven't been since they built the new bridge (the old one was VERY scary because narrow lanes and old falling apart, always needing construction repairs...can't explain the fear enough that we had, being up higher than other bridges, seeing the construction repairs and knowing it was in such bad shape but had to drive it anyway to get other side due to there were no other choices :-O! always felt like we were going to fall or get blown over by winds before. Glad they built it new:-D! You went most places i would of recommended so Great job for your research places. Only 1 other place i recommend was Hymans Restaurant (located West end of City Market and 1 block North) I am originally from Miami and grew up everywhere between Keys, Okeechobee, and Marco Island. Now i have traveled 24yrs several Countries and most every city across half United States. The Hyman restaurant is one of my favorite seafood places anywhere and the building has a lot of history that it is located in. Next time check out when you are there again Robert. I really like watching your videos. Your particular style and voice descriptions are informative and enjoyable. You are the guy we want to be telling stories around friends and family.
